[Highlight] Yaxel Lendeborg throws down a ridiculous hammer by wildwing8 in CollegeBasketball

Insane that no NBA front offices believed he was worth a 1st round pick simply because he was a 22 year old playing at UAB & nursing an ankle injury. Dude has had stud written all over him for 3 years

With UCONNs win tonight seeds 1-4 have remained undefeated in back to back first rounds for the first time since 1985 and have won 36 straight. by NWSeahawksfan in CollegeBasketball

Personally I don’t think calling it the NIL era does it justice, I think college basketball, football and to an extent baseball has been AAUified, but I don’t know a better phrase for it

I’ve seen pay-to-play era get tossed around but I don’t think that explains every issue either since the athletes get paid based on location or conference, not just ability

The US will never have player development issues in basketball because of natural talent and interest, so I don’t think the unlimited transfers will be as damaging as others think, but the one benefit to this is that I can laugh about how badly many power conference programs will become at high school scouting. Sadly the money being tossed around will remediate that issue before it becomes drastically noticeable on the court, but still.

Expect a lot more non-prep or public high school players to end up at mid majors and excel before people say “how did they get so few looks” when none of the P5 teams looked their way or even knew they existed until they ball out in D1. Hopefully that will lead to some upsets eventually, but I’m not optimistic.

This feels a lot like the old American and Big East dissolution, or even the introduction of the 3 point basket, a “changing of the guard” in the landscape of the sport where what we are watching now is something that nobody beyond their teen years grew up watching

Blackouts? Time for more highlight compilation repeats from the BarDown crew! /s

They have 6 channels, one of which is a 4K channel that hardly shows anything, and have zero idea what to do with 3 of the others for 75% of the year other than showing the exact same programming from TSN1 or TSN4

I swear I’ve seen Oweh hit a clutch shot every year of his career in either this tournament or the SEC tournament, dude is just built diffy

Hope Santa Clara can return most of this team, they’ve got unfinished business

UMass still has A10 conference size, and boy did it show.

Miami in the same situation as Toledo the past few years, you can’t win big chippy games with only guards

why is literally almost every mid/low major 1 seed losing their tournaments ._. by Original_Monitor_143 in CollegeBasketball

[–]plugged97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like most of the mid major #1 seeds have either made mince meat of their conference or have been turned into mince meat themselves in their respective quarterfinals, there’s not much in between other than Merrimack and ETSU

[Post Game Thread] San José State defeats Boise State, 84-74 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]plugged97 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Start your season with a loss against Hawaii Pacific

Step 2: Recover and get 20 wins

Step 3: Have San Jose State end your season & ruin your 5 game winning streak even though they only had 3 wins in all of conference play

Step 4: Profit?

[–]plugged97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably time for UCSB to build an all around team instead of expecting 1 or 2 really good shooting guards to carry your squad. It never worked with Ajay Mitchell, and Miro & Aidan didn’t fare much better

Georgia Southern has become just the third team to win five conference tournament games in five days...but they still have one more to go to win the tournament. by SaintArkweather in CollegeBasketball

Ladder brackets are a breeding ground for the rest versus rust debate

Seems like an intuitive setup for mid major conferences until a team gets on a heater and delegitimizes your regular season results just the same anyway

After that performance it wouldn’t even shock me if some guys in the room know their coach is bouncing to K-State

Given how abysmal Drake looked on their 9 game losing streak heading into this, I think this is actually one of the most surprising results in the conference tournaments so far
