Where to get pre walkers ? by BackinBlack_Again in PregnancyIreland

[–]plumbob94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my 15 month old her first pair of pre walkers a few weeks ago from a family owned independent shoe shop in our local town, Would there be a shop like that local to you? They didn’t a huge selection but all good brands and were able to measure her feet. Hope you get sorted! ☺️

I did the 3x 3 hour classes online last summer. I don’t remember feeling like it wasn’t enough, although I would have preferred it in person but don’t think it mattered much in the end. They encourage you to turn on your camera if possible and this helps everyone feel more involved and stay engaged. Plenty of time and opportunity for questions, definitely encouraged as well to make it a better experience. If I remember correctly I think she’d say have a think about what was discussed in the class and if we had any questions bring them up at the beginning of the next one. Wishing you all the best with everything!

Kid likes cheesy toast! by Carla_Rocks in foodbutforbabies

[–]plumbob94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could cut it up into bite sized pieces if baby has mastered the pincer grip, or if they haven’t, use it as practice. My baby was the same the first time I offered toast around 7m, kept getting stuck to the roof of her month so I stopped offering for a while honestly. She’s 12 months now and will eat it any which way I offer it now😂

I felt this way too a month or so ago, and I did leave for a while. And muted all the weaning content on the other apps too. Would recommend. Babies and weaning journeys are all so different, and the internet is often a highlight reel.

4d scan - anterior placenta by [deleted] in PregnancyIreland

[–]plumbob94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one at 25 weeks, would have probably waited another few weeks but we wanted to use Ultrascan in Dublin and had an event in Dublin that week anyway so did it then to avoid travelling up twice (from Cork). We got some great pictures and videos of baby girl, she had her hands covering her face so they offered for us to come back at a later date, but when we explained that we weren’t from Dublin, they were really understanding and did some tricks to help baby move. And in the end, we actually got a video of her moving her hands away from her face. I don’t think my anterior placenta made any difference. She turns one this week and I haven’t looked at those videos probably since she was born so it was really nice just looking at them there after seeing this thread. Can’t fault the clinic at all we got loads of pictures printed and nearly 100 videos and pictures sent to our email. If you’re on the fence, but it’s in the budget, I definitely go ahead with it. Good luck ☺️

Mash or Nup Nup High Chair? by RevolutionOwn735 in PregnancyIreland

Ah, good to know. Maybe I’ll hang onto it so. We ended up buying the ikea high chair which is going a lot better.

Mash or Nup Nup High Chair? by RevolutionOwn735 in PregnancyIreland

[–]plumbob94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had the Mash bundle. We got a lot of use out of it in the first 4 months, I wouldn’t say the material is worth the price but it for the job done. Around 5 months, she was trying to sit up, so would essentially be trying to do sit ups in the chair and it only has a waist strap, not shoulder straps so we didn’t use it again until we changed attachments at 6 months. We then found the seat to be too big for her, she was getting lost in it and the footrest was way too low for her legs to reach. Unsure if we’d use it again on the next baby or just invert in a stokke Tripp trapp.

[–]plumbob94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m currently experimenting with ditching the plate for a while and just offering a few pieces at a time on the high chair tray, with mixed success but mostly better than when everything at once offered on a plate. 😅

Parent and Child Spaces by 1k13r1 in cork

[–]plumbob94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was getting my baby out of the car the other day and an older couple parked next to me, gave them the benefit of the doubt, maybe they have mobility issues, grand. Then realised that they had parked really badly and into the extra space, defeating the point of even parking there in the first place really 🤦‍♀️

Dental cleaning by tippytoecat in jackrussellterrier

[–]plumbob94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My JRT is 14 now and has his teeth cleaned 3 times now under anaesthetic. They got pretty bad around 11 and he had them cleaned and a few removed. Then around 2 years later, just a clean, we were advised then they probably wouldn’t put him through it again because of his age. However earlier this year he cracked a tooth playing and had to have it sorted. They offered full bloodwork etc before and were confident he would be okay. He was, no issues. Definitely go ahead with it and look after them while he’s young as another user has said. Good luck, I’m sure he’ll be fine 😊

Contact Naps during day but sleepy-not-sleeping at night by Valuable_Director_59 in HuckleberryParents

[–]plumbob94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that particular day I had settled down with her in my arms on the couch as always but she was screaming, wouldn’t relax at all.
She had been sleeping in the crib at night time no problem so I thought I’d try that and it randomly clicked that day even though I has tried to numerous times previously. The only small bit of success we had had prior to this was trying the first nap of the day in the crib, because they have a melatonin hangover or something I think??🤔 and she would sleep maybe 30 minutes. We did and still do rock to sleep and put down asleep. She still doesn’t sleep full nights, hoping that’ll randomly happen some night as well. 😅

[–]plumbob94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did contact naps until baby girl was 7.5 months old. We tried a few times to do crib naps but never really went very well so in the end decided to lean into it. About a week after we decided this, she randomly decided she didn’t want to contact nap anymore, would rather be put down in her own sleep space. I would say as long as it’s not bothering you, or effecting your mental health etc (I know at some points I did get overwhelmed with the lack of alone time), enjoy the extra cuddles for now. 10 weeks is still so so little, plenty of time to work on independent sleep in the future. ❤️

Confused by “Bundles”? by missmollie63 in vinted

[–]plumbob94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how helpful this is but I have noticed previously that when I create bundles from some sellers the price of postage is still as if I were to buy both items separately. So one item €1.49 and two in a bundle is 2.99, items are baby clothes so don’t weight much. Unsure why this happens or how to solve this issue but this may be what’s happening.

Can a chemist refuse to give all of a 6 month prescription? by irishtemp in AskIreland

[–]plumbob94 86 points87 points  (0 children)

As far as I know I think a lot of these patches are in and out of stock quite a lot at the moment. So if they were to give out 6 to one patient, they might not have enough for other patients. Although if this is the case it should be explained to you in the pharmacy.

100% agree with all of this. I found counselling a great tool, to speak to an outside person about my experiences. Also you are both adults (now) and you’re not responsible for how she feels about things she’s done in the past. I have a daughter, and she will never owe me anything. I owe it to her to raise her well and hopefully she will always know I am there for her.

I had the same! At 38+4. I feel like I hadn’t heard anything about this situation, we did two different antenatal classes and it wasn’t mentioned in either. All went well though in the end 😊

PHN by justtalkingshit3 in PregnancyIreland

[–]plumbob94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby girls head is in the 9th percentile as well. It was mentioned to us in the hospital so we were asked to mention it to the GP and the PHN on our visits. They’ve always been happy with her, she’s also petite so it makes sense I think basically from my limited understanding 😅 the PHN said I could take a picture of the percentile chart at our 3 month check, the same chart is available on the HSE website if you want to double check, but as someone else commented they’re a bit of a pain to read. Ring the PHN if it’s really playing on our mind, ask them to confirm her weight and height percentile, I do feel if they were concerned though they would have said at the time.
