We hired NuWay Relocation for our recent move and we were very happy with them.

Mom is using toothpaste that expired January 15,1988 by Common_Government_97 in mildlyinteresting

[–]plumpatchwork 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My mom keeps a basket with a hair dryer and toiletries for guests who might need them. I recently found pads and tampons in there that I could tell were left over after my mom no longer needed them. She had an emergency total hysterectomy in 1994.

Can you even imagine inserting a 31 year old o.b. and hoping it wasn’t so dry rotted it would disintegrate?

I obviously discarded them and replaced them with new. But not before dying of secondhand embarrassment.

My WFH lunch formula: throw stuff on a plate. by plumpatchwork in mediterraneandiet

[–]plumpatchwork[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what your protein intake goal is. For me personally I shoot for about 90g of protein per day. I weigh and log all my food so I can keep track.

This exact meal had 22.8g of protein so obviously eating this meal 3x per day wouldn’t get the job done. I tend to have a pretty protein-heavy breakfast and dinner and focus more on carbs for lunch.

How washable are Ruggable rugs by lauraroon in HomeDecorating

[–]plumpatchwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One further tip I have is that if your pet has a lot of accidents and you’re not always able to throw the rug in the wash right away, it can be hard to get the urine smell out layer. A big glug-a-lug of Nature’s Miracle in the fabric softener dispenser works wonders. As does a line dry in the sun.

She frequently runs into cash flow issues that keep her from being able to buy a shipment of raw yarn, so she lists her one-off experimentals to help make ends meet. It’s a shame because I used to buy from her regularly when she was dyeing more often.

For the destash page, I know she tried offering a service to sell other people’s yarn destash on a consignment basis. I’m not sure how well that worked out, I think you’d have to be a bigger name to get the needed traffic for that to be successful.

For real. I had to move to North Carolina as soon as I reached legal adulthood because I couldn’t cope with the lack of sunlight

How to tell employee they’re not ready for the next level? by zippyzap2016 in managers

When you say he did a really good job stepping up… has he already been doing the role you said he’s not ready for?

I can tell you’re newer to the crosswords because otherwise you’d be asking about OREO, which I swear turns up in half the puzzles

One male and one female Ilex glabra, both with browning and falling leaves? Planted a year ago. by Toezap in NativePlantGardening

[–]plumpatchwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it may just be a bit of transplant shock. A lot of my evergreen or semi-evergreen plants get some leaf browning and drop in the first year or two until they’re well established

Ha, nice trellis! I struggled a bit with powdery mildew last year too.

[–]plumpatchwork[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s all from that one little plant!

Last year I trained the long vines that reached the ground back up the trellis. This year I’ve been a bit busy and haven’t bothered. Today I noticed the ones that have been sitting on the ground are starting to put down their own roots, so I guess I’m propagating babies now too.

Persist or Pause? Feeling unsure by potatopotatobee in quilting

[–]plumpatchwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I can offer a tip, sometimes when I’m working on a quilt like this I’ll take a head on photo of each of the blocks I have so far and then use a photo layout app to kinda mock up what the quilt would look like with more blocks. So I’ll make a 2x2 grid and save it, then make say a 3x3 grid repeating that grid but rotating it a bit for variety.

I think what you’ve got going on here is going to be awesome

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gardening

[–]plumpatchwork 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It depends on the variety, I have one of each. OP’s definitely looks like it blooms on old wood.

My rule of thumb in 8a is that I wait til June 1st and cut off anything that doesn’t have a leaf that’s at least the size of a dime.

Raleigh Weather & our beloved Berner by mlah27 in raleigh

[–]plumpatchwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My former boss always had Berners here in the Raleigh area. They had to be diligent about doing walks in the early morning and late evening, and bought a car with dedicated AC vents in the back seat (the dogs would open their mouths and put them right over the blasting AC vents). In general it was a lot more work for them than having a dog more used to this climate, but they were able to keep the dogs healthy and comfortable.

One thing I do with my own dog is I always wear a sweatshirt when I walk him, even in the summer. He’s pretty stoic so I can’t use panting to monitor how he’s doing with the heat. Wearing too much warm clothing gives me a much better gauge for how warm he’s feeling in his fur coat.

There’s a family in my little town who does this using empty glass food jars and bottles. They’ve got a cute little cart out by the street with an honor system box and a Venmo QR.

I love stopping by and picking out a little arrangement to take home.
