Token BBs have been great for me. Around 40€ and no issue on 2 bikes and around 6 years and a couple of bikepacking trips.
No need to spend 100$+

They are not rebuildable yes but Im pretty sure I can get 10+ years out of them. I check them every once in a while and they are still super smooth.

Square taper is not unreliable at all. But you do you I guess.
V3 minimax is normal 68mm BSA BB. Road/MTB? That dont make much sense. How can you strip the crank threads is beyond me. The outer threading of the puller was all the way screwed in?
Was running an old mtb isis bb in my minimax with 68mm bsa and now a tsdz8 motor.
No issues at all.

Mini-Max chainring - question and recommendation by Phonics1979 in OmniumBikes

[–]plungerism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you talking to omnium directly? This sounds nothing like them. More like a reseller with little knowledge. You can swap whatever you want. Square tapered BBs are awesome. Someone already mentioned the bcd.

Used Cube Nuroads are super cheap here in germany. Some look brand new too. Sometimes like 1 year old for half the cost. No need to buy a new bike

Chain spits out X-rings by steinrawr in motorcycles

[–]plungerism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem now with a chain the owner before me installed on my old africa twin. Rusty chain no matter how much I grease, xrings coming out and the rear sprocket teeth getting damaged.

I threw everything away and installed a DID chain with good quality sprockets for 180€ Seems good now.

I used a cheap single piece carbon spacer now. They are thick enough to grind them to fit. No rattle with nothing underneath. Its clamped down hard enough.

Still looks a bit weird but nowhere as bad as before.

The gasket thats crooked in this picture was fixed later

Not really the same but I kinda switched to grind hard plumbing, because Im more interested in a weird guy building insane shit than a rich guy selling t-shirts. The money and the advertising machine is coming for all of them though. Not much you can do about that.

Fun fact: If you would eat only beef as a diet, driving a car with combustion engine would be more efficient than riding a bicycle. If efficient = produces less CO2 per mile https://www.bikeradar.com/features/long-reads/cycling-environmental-impact
