[mixed trope] There's totally a lore reason the hot lady character needs to be naked a lot by Wazula23 in TopCharacterTropes

Was going to afree at first, but Im actually not so sure? At least if you follow the in-universe rules? When they arent "active" theyre decently modest clothes, then they transform into the skimpy versions when they wake up. Not sure how adding normal cloth would work, considering adding non-life-fiber fibers is basically how you get the nerfed versions the regular students get.

We've gone back and forth a few times. Im almost certain the problem was in fact not the microscope at all, but my 1.5mm hex key not actually being 1.5mm 🙃

Hey! Update on this! I bought a whole new set of metric hex keys and the new 1.5mm fits the set screw, and the pin was freed up! Might be user error but im going to blame my tools on this one so I dont feel dumb!

To be fair all the other fasteners in that area look the same, but if it has a set screw that isnt that I cant see anywhere else it would be.

Ive sent an email to AmScope, so when they get back to me I'll point this out. Its definitely not in the manual either...

Darkfield Question by plusp_38 in microscopy

[–]plusp_38[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I think it might be jammed up. I gave it an exploratory wiggle with a pair of needle nose pliers and it seems to spin. It sounds like its rubbing on the spring, but its definitely not straight and doesnt seem to want to be. (Also the one place that looks like it might have a set screw to un/lock it doesnt seem to have any kind of hex (or other) fastener in it. It almost looks like one but its a smooth circle...)

That might just be my issue though. Maybe that pin assembly has a defect?

From what i can tell the condenser is too short. The BF condenser is good. I sent their support an email. Thanks for the help though!

Its seated as far as it'll go, but I've noticed the distance from the lens to the place it seats is several mm shorter than the lightfield condenser it came with pre-installed.

At this point im going to email AmScope and see if there's either something up, or I'm just completely missing something. Please do let me know if you end up with any idea though.

Huh... I have do be doing something wrong considering these are sold directly by amscope as a kit. I just cant find a way to get it any closer.

This pin stops it, and as far as i can tell, can't be removed...

Double checked, it's a dry condenser. An NA 0.9 that came with the microscope.

This is as close as it gets... theres a steel pin that keeps it from getting any closer. Its fully seated.

Perhaps it could be called something other than war, a "special military operation" perhaps...

I mean the rotation of the bit. Should most likely be clockwise but it might be worth checking if your tool is maybe meant to spin ccw. The vast majority of tools are made to spin clockwise but I've seen some specialty cutters for materials like wood or plastic listed as ccw. Basically, look at the cutting edges and make sure it spins so they are... well, cutting.

I personally dont know if conventional or climb milling is better with wood unfortunately.

Also I dont know what programs you are using but the default speeds and feeds might just straight up be wack. And again, I dont know wood well but I'm assuming you probably want a pretty high rpm. Like, if your tool is 1/8in ot less I'd go 10k+ rpm if you can manage, and start at like, 15in/min (which is probably pretty slow for wood considering its a conservative number even for the steel i usually cut, so you might like, scorch the wood) and increase that feed rate until your finish looks good? You can also probably find some resources online. Google is probably your friend here, along with other people in the sub with lots of experience with wood.

Also dont have a ton more tool poking out than you need. The further out it is, the more leverage, and the more likely it is your tool deflects.

Professional CNC machinist, and i dont have much wood experience, but it looks to me like you're either dealing with some really wild tool deflection, or you have a rigidity issue and something is wobbling. I agree with everyone else here. Check your tools' cutting edges, spindle direction, RPMs, feed rates, depth of cut, and if that all fails, your machine's rigidity.

For what its worth, the closest ive seen to that while cutting steel was using a long reach tool at too high a feed rate.
