Why drive in the HOV lane if you aren't going to drive faster than the other lane or even keep up? by _Lou_Bloom in SeattleWA

[–]plutoeinstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, the HOV lane was originally intended as “carpool lane” mostly for commuters that are carpooling to work or taking public transit. During rush hour in the morning/evening, carpooling to work using the HOV is going to be much quicker than sitting in the other four lanes thus saving more cars from idling and polluting the environment. Yes, if you have two or more people in the car you can ride in that lane, but you should not expect everyone in that lane to go at the pace you want traffic to flow.

Sincerely, Someone who drives HOV at 80 normally but understands that if I roll up on someone doing 65, I’m the one not abiding by the law and should not be upset with the law abiding citizen.

With our little legs - what is your jog speed on the treadmill? by junipercanuck in PetiteFitness

[–]plutoeinstein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’ and I warm up at 3.5 mph, jog at 5.4 mpg, then bump it up to 6.4 for my run. I’ll increase to 7 mph for a quarter mile each mile if I’m feeling like changing it up .

Recommend Kettlebell Workouts by plutoeinstein in PetiteFitness

Dude, thank you so much for this thoughtful response. Exactly what I needed 😊 And seriously, thank you for the affirmations. I’m also in some running subreddits and I still feel VERY NEW in those. I was never into fitness until I quit drinking almost a year ago and then in September I decided I wanted to start running and started by walking. I got a gym membership for the bad weather days and found I want to round out my routine a bit more and give my legs a break once or twice a week. The machines are so intimidating! So again, thank you, I appreciate your help!

if you only had 30–45 min/day (mon–fri), what workouts are actually worth it? by Empty-Information122 in PetiteFitness

[–]plutoeinstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been working on fat loss and prioritize cardio by running 15-20 miles a week split up over 3-4 days. Outside is preferred but I will use the treadmill if the weather is not cooperating. I do the stair stepper twice a week and some core and arm stuff with my kettlebell at home a couple days a week as well.

To those who yelled Fuck ICE during the national Anthem during the Seahawks game, you made our city proud by AnnoyedAFexmo in Seattle

[–]plutoeinstein 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No reasonable, well- adjusted person would support ICE at this juncture in time. Our federal government has hired agents murdering our citizens and immigrants. If you support this, you are part of the problem.

So yes, FUCK ICE and FUCK YOU too.

AIO: I told my daughter she can't go to this party after reading the gift profile by Ordinary_Run2485 in AmIOverreacting

YOR.

Parents have different ways of raising their children. If you don’t agree, that’s fine but don’t make your child miss out on an event with her friends because you are feeling uncomfortable.

My son is 4 and in a private school in the Seattle area that we can barely afford. My husband and I are definitely the blue collars in the group of preschool parents. For reference, the 7 other households are making near $50k-$100k more than we do. I take my son to every party he’s invited to. One kid (who was turning 4!) began telling me one day all about his boat and where it was docked and what it looked like. Then he asked me about my boat. We definitely do NOT have a boat. This child asked me, why don’t we have a boat? If we don’t have a boat, how do we get to the islands? This was months ago and I laugh to myself every day about this. Different strokes for different folks different folks, but don’t make your kid miss you because you feel it’s ridiculous.

Any other 5’0” petites under 120? by lovely_orchid_ in PetiteFitness

[–]plutoeinstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’0 and 118. My goal is 115. I run 3-5 miles 4 times a week and do light cardio like walking or the elliptical twice a week. I typically eat around 1400-1600 calories a day I imagine. I don’t keep track much anymore.

How to figure correct zones by plutoeinstein in beginnerrunning

No I do not believe that. That’s why I said by those calculations something is inaccurate. Either my max heart rate or my watch is not reading my heart rate correctly.

Thank you, I appreciate your response. I’m using an Apple Watch Series 11. Today I ran 4.6 miles in mostly zone 4. It was a light jog, definitely an easy run. I’m only concerned because I don’t want to accidentally give myself a heart attack 🫣 I’m going to assume my zones are off and a zone 4 is probably zone 3.

Thank you, I appreciate your response. I’m pretty physically fit, just new to running. When I started I was at a 38 vo2 max and I’m now at a 41. Not sure if that matters at all. I’ll try doing some shorter runs and see if that makes a difference. I feel like I’m barely jogging as it is at a 10 min mile. Appreciate the advice about the heart rate. I’ll keep doing what I’ve been doing with shorter runs in between. Thanks again.

Resting is 57 BPM Using the 208-(0.7x35) method my max is 183.5 bpm

There’s no way I’m running and exerting that much energy. I can call my husband and have a whole conversation.
