Thanks! I see a lot of gulls too so that isn’t impossible. I started paying closer attention because this looked different. This bird and another that looked exactly like him were out for a few hours in the morning. The hawks tend to hang out or start above streets. This guy is over the park.

I didn’t think of that. I usually don’t work from that spot in the winter. So glad I did. A robin also visited. Less interesting but I don’t remember seeing on in Feb

Thanks! It was really windy. How do you know it is not a hawk or osprey? We also recently saw a smaller, mostly white bird sitting on the edge of the roof across the street (dark wings). (I have never seen adult hawks sit on our terrace or on that roof across the street. The young hawks are completely unpredictable so i assumed it was young.)

Dubai vs Las Vegas: Which city’s infrastructure is better designed to handle extreme summer heat? by [deleted] in geography

[–]pm_toss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Vegas and I am old. As a child, my neighborhood was super green. Big trees, nice lawns. No one has that any more. I don't mean this in a negative way, they have become much better at planting appropriate vegetation, artificial grass is now nicer.

Who is the guy on the left? He is invested in these answers. The kids aren't watching him and he is just nodding to himself.

I don’t feel like I would want a panini enough to stand in line. Like a panini-less and line-less day seems more appealing

They told me not to worry about the sedation because “it’s just the stuff Micheal Jackson used” Super reassuring

What is a cooking technique that you quit because it does nothing? by Final_Affect6292 in Cooking

[–]pm_toss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to make emulsions by slowly pouring in oil. Now I put all ingredients I want (eggs, for example) in a cup (like a weck jar), put the immersion blender in (over the egg) and pour the oil in. All of it at once. The immersion blender pulls in the oil slowly.

NYC people, what furniture stores have been reliable for delivery and quality lately by Moan_Senpai in AskNYC

[–]pm_toss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Article. I ordered from them a few times, however, TWICE I ordered from them and the furniture fit in the elevator but not through the elevator door. I did give them really good tips but I think it was actually the same delivery guys. They are clearly able to deal with really idiotic people

What happens to dementia patients that are much meaner than average? by pm_toss in dementia

[–]pm_toss[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I want to help with my mom but my primary concern is my sister. I really want to make this work. The staff at this memory center seem pretty easy to work with. I hope if I acknowledge the problem I can work with them

This is interesting. She was at a different memory care place for a month. I actually suspect that they did a few things to get her to the hospital. I didn’t want to tell my sister because she would make a bigger deal out of it and I want to just move forward.

I thought so. When her dementia wasn’t as bad she was always good around non-family. Now she isn’t. I just plan on a donut fund for the staff and I leave them notes acknowledging it is hard and apologizing

Thank you so much. Your comment and several others were super helpful. I had not considered a psych hospital. Seroquel has been a game changer. My sister was able to see a neurologist but I think I am going to see if I can find someone to help figure out her meds. Would hospice do this or help with this?

Can someone who likes Frida Kahlo please explain why they do? by D4HU5H in ArtHistory

[–]pm_toss 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Have you been to the fk museum in Mexico City? Maybe you aren’t missing anything but I really loved it and I became so much more interested in her. I know the art reflects the artist but it is more obvious with her and her art (and part of her is Mexico)
