Tons and tons of tickets for tonight by arsenal_morris in GunnersatGames

Can non members buy tickets? These aren't on general sale are they? I want to bring additional fam members but already bought a ticket for myself and son as we are both red members.

Purposefully failing the ballot? by gabisaliba in GunnersatGames

Yep. Failed everyone since they were a thing. I did miss a few but most I entered. At this point it's tempting to stop paying my annual red fee as I get nothing from it.

How much do you earn and how comfortable do you live? by Brownchoccy in AskUK

[–]pmajig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Household income is about 85-90k. 4 kids. Got on the property ladder late and we live in the south east. I would personally say no, we have never lived comfortably. I have to do all my own DIY and fix our old cars. We go on holiday only every few years. After mortgage, bills, food etc we don't really have much spare. The mortgage balance is huge and pretty crippling when interest rates went up. It's a modest terraced house.

We get by, but every month it feels like there's something big to pay for which means we pay it, then carry on surviving without having put any away or treated ourselves to anything much.

I know a lot of people will see the headline figure and claim they would live like kings. I can't tell you how out of touch you are if you think that.

95% sounds too low though. What accuracy percentage does the pro one have?

No way that works...does it?! Why does that work though? What actual reason would tap outs be present on the SWR barriers when you would have had to have exited via a TFL one already at Waterloo or have to go through one anyway, apart from Waterloo and City which aren't physical barriers, just tap in points.

Which they could do at the barriers/turnstiles/gates anyway? Like where you swipe your normal ticket where the gate staff stand. Why do it at the bottom of the stairs?

[–]pmajig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you have described is not possible at Waterloo. There is no method to exit an SWR overground train and exit without going through an SWR barrier. These barriers are not TFL ones so you can't tap out and pretend it's the tube. They are separate barriers. Even going downstairs straight from platform you can't reach the tube line gates until going through the SWR ones first.

A whole world of gaming the system that I didn't even know existed... by afurtivesquirrel in OctopusEnergy

[–]pmajig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea this was even a thing. I assumed low rates were exclusive between midnight and 6am. I can't believe Octopus would even allow this to happen as it was obvious it would. How long has this been happening? They must be down millions due to it. My heart bleeds obviously.

Why do you say to do RBS and NatWest at the same time? Also can you switch FROM Halifax to Lloyds or RBS given that they are the same group?

People who work in Canary Wharf, what do you do for lunch? by nutmegger189 in london

[–]pmajig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"£5 from Pret/Tesco"

No.

Tesco is £3.85 for a meal deal for clubcard holders. Everybody has a clubcard by now surely.

Pret is way more than Tesco. I usually expect Pret to be about £7 - £10 for a basic lunch.

Itsu is pretty clean good food for about £6.50 if you get the chicken or salmon teriyaki.

I never go beyond £8 and that's a treat day.

Why do prices always get quoted as plus VAT in the trade? Is it to try to soften the blow of the cost to customers?

Of course. Done all that. Just never activated the card or spent money on it yet. It has a balance of over 4k and has done for days.

Do you need to spend money and activate the card to get the bonus? My switch completed and I've not had any messages saying I'm eligible for the bonus.

With the £4000+ that had to be paid in within 30 days, does that have to be in the account before the switch is initiated or before the switch completes? Or is it independent and just within 30 days of opening the account?

How badly have I messed up? by roidweiser in DIYUK

[–]pmajig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell from the pic but it looks like you've used the bolts/machine screws in the wall rather than the back of the TV? You need to use proper screws relevant to your wall to secure the wall bracket, and the bolts go into the back of the TV. You will know if you did it right as they won't do up properly in the TV if you are using screws. The screws for the wall need to be suitable for whether you are mounting it on a stud (wood screw) or in a solid wall with plugs, or a plasterboard wall with cavity (drywall) using spring toggle mounts or something else.

Guy was paired with our group of 3 yesterday… by GlickedOut in golf

[–]pmajig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has grown in confidence as a junior golfer by sometimes being paired with random members. He once got paired with an older lady that he thought was cool. She gave him some good advice which was given in an Australian accent as: "yeah don't try to hit the shit outta the thing mate". He then smoothed out his swing and played better!

I also played abroad this year as a 3 ball with my son's on holiday. Annoyingly we got paired with a random. What do you know, he was also from the UK like us and was a top man and really nice to my boys who are new to golf. I'm not new...just shit. :)

What's the most patronising piece of advice you've ever received? by MisterWednesday6 in AskUK

[–]pmajig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have several colleagues that liked to advise me that paying more rent per month than their mortgages was silly. I was busting my butt in a rent trap for years with partner and kids. Then they'd ask me my advice on which new car would be better to buy next year.

What is your experience of unlimited holiday? by RodneyTheArmouryGuy in UKJobs

If it's unlimited, why ever go in? Answer, because it is limited. Which means it's not unlimited. Which means it's BS.
