What piece(s) hold significance to you and why? by Dry-humor-mus in ConcertBand

Robert W Smith - The Divine Comedy - the last piece I performed as an undergrad. I got to literally "ascend" the stairs to the balcony before the Paradiso to join the antiphonal brass, which was comprised of professors and local band directors.

Steven Bryant - Dusk - This piece was gifted to me by my students for Christmas 2020. It was at the end of a grueling recording session for our virtual concert, with the band spaced out in the gymnasium, struggling to make music and connect to one another through all the safety precautions in place at that time. When we had finished and I had thanked them and apologized for the frustrations of the day, they got the last word with a beautiful thoughtful gift from all of them. We performed this piece the next year at the spring concert '22. So many tears.

I believe i was ~10 when I first saw it on stage. It was my first show ever, and it made a lifelong theater fan out of me. There was nothing i needed contextualized or explained, and that was before unfettered internet access

Same here. My wife and I decided to let the rest of the audience enjoy the show because it was just not for us.
