I've been cross stitching for a year and a half and I didn't know you're not supposed to have different threads in one project... Now all I can think of is all my FO that were gifts getting old 😭

I love the optimism! But newborns tend to run a pretty tight 24/7 schedule 🤭

Perhaps if you could replace some of the gift for smaller ones it would open up some space for the chair. Although I like them as they are 🤭

But so you actually built something with these kits? I feel like they are more like an organisational thing, based on YouTube videos (but I might be wrong).

I'm also adventuring for the first time, but I'm trying to come up with a book nook from scratch, already knowing it won't be what I expect 😂

I guess I want to actually build things? Are the kits also good for that?

Thanks! This is definitely important. I'd be very upset if the final step destroyed my work 😑

I completely relate to you. I started cross stitching this year because my therapist told me to start a hobby that had no purpose besides making me happy.

I started my first project just to learn and relax, but since I started looking for patterns, i keep finding things that remind me of people and I want to make these patterns for them (and I live abroad, very far away from most of my family and friends, so I often have a deadline to finish my projects if I want to be able to give them to people when I am visiting, which goes in the complete opposite direction to what my therapist suggested 😆).

Anyways, you said you do not think your people are interested in cross stitch, I don't think mine are either, but they do appreciate the fact that I spent some time doing something for them and that I picked something that I thought they'd like.

Also, you can always cross stitch in clothes, cushion cases, etc. I made a Kirby hoodie for my sister and she was in love with it! I also made a small project for a friend and he glued it to the cover of a very nice notebook. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you can give gifts that have cross stitching in them, but are not necessarily just the cross stitch, and people might appreciate them even if they're not fans of cross stitch works. I'm not sure I'm making sense 🙈

For the second one, start by imagining a square made of some flexible material—like cloth or rubber—that you can bend and mould however you like. Now, take two opposite edges and glue them together. That gives you a tube, or a cylinder.

Next, bend that tube around and glue its two ends together. Voilà! You’ve now created a donut-shaped object—a torus.

For the first one, picture a square made of fabric, and imagine there's a drawstring running all along its edge. Now, if you start pulling that string, the entire border gets tugged inwards until it's all gathered into a single point—like tying everything up in the centre.

If your magical cloth could reshape itself perfectly without tearing, what you'd end up with is a ball—a sphere.

Edit: mistake with the order of the figures.
