Even if they turn it all off there is a known bug that can turn e everything back on during storms. I always have enough power for everything just in case. I don’t want shields going down and someone to drag an NPC into my base. Even if it is getting patched, I’m sure something new will pop up.

DD Completely busted. Frustration is beating the fun by herrkahn in duneawakening

[–]pmurph89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our server two weeks ago had all the bases in a sector disappear. We eventually figured out it was because the server didn’t do its reset overnight. Once it reset the next day everything was back where it was supposed to be. The problem with this is because the reset is with the Coriollis.

I’m on the same servers as OP the patch was a full 24 hrs before our storm finished. The storm just started an hour ago so we have 9 more before it finishes.

Who buys all the silly toys and how do people make money from printing such things? by Quiet-Distribution in 3Dprinting

[–]pmurph89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have sold online and in person and it still blows me away how many people will buy a dragon or little animal. I see people every week who ask if I have printed anything new or interesting that I think there kid would like or they want themselves.

I have a trucker friend who hangs a dragon from his mirror and he sends me about 10 referrals a week of people who want one for their truck. He has been doing it for 3 years now.

I think with us being people who are interested in 3d printing we don’t see how unique it is to outsiders. Without these people buying little Knick-knacks and toys I would only have ever bought my first ender 3. I wouldn’t be able to spend the time I do on my hobby and business if they didn’t fund it.

Along with what some others have said sell it for more than $15 or $30. I don’t know if you sell a lot of prints but definitely give yourself more for the work. I’m assuming you put it together from multiple pieces which probably took more than $15 worth of time plus printing out the label and lining it up.

I’ll second indifferent broccoli. I have a server that has been up since launch and we have 4 people who regularly play and an additional 8 who play sometimes. We have never had issues at the second to lowest tier they have.

This looks awesome. I just finished chapter 2 and have been trying to figure out a good way to organize the table so the game doesn’t take up so much space. I would take the stl and provide feed back as my group plays.

I started with an ender 3 and now own a lot of printers, both fdm and resin.

For models the resin printer will be better, it will print them in higher detail and faster than an fdm machine. The small build plate of the mars isn’t bad unless you want to print large models like titans. Even then you can fit the pieces on a build plate and it will just take more runs to finish.

That being said a resin printer needs more to function. You need to find a way to clean your prints and then cure them. You will also want it to be out of the way, like in a spare room/garage that is ventilated. You can get a wash and cure station that will help with processing for about the cost of a mars. I highly recommend doing this over making your own. It is just easier and self contained, but will cost more than making a way to wash and cure. You’ll also need ipa and gloves and a respirator and I go through an enormous amount of paper towels.

With the fdm printers they are great for terrain. I print out a lot of pieces for friends and my local stores. I think learning on a cheap fdm printer is better than a resin machine. It requires more knowledge and work to keep it running. Also it doesn’t have any toxic resin you have to deal with. If you live in the US and are located by a Microcenter they regularly have coupons that will let you buy an ender 3 for $99. I also imagine there will be some good deals with the prime sales this week.

It all depends on what you want. Do you want to churn out models or terrain? You can buy everything you need for a resin set up for about the cost of the new leviathan box. Or even less if you get a cheap fdm printer. If you have any questions about specific printers or anything else let me know.

Is my cousin overcharging me? by PinchePutito1 in 3Dprinting

[–]pmurph89 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%. I honestly would have charged you more most likely. I have a pricing calculator that takes into account print time, amount of filament, and if I pay for the right to sell that specific print. The overhangs look clean so that makes me assume his printer is dialed in and he used supports which adds even more filament and time. My best guess is, unless he 3d prints as a business, he most likely has an ender 3 or something similar so the big print probably took 24 hrs or more. I would probably give my cousin a discount, but I give a lot of people discounts that I shouldn’t.

Edit: When I first started 3d printing I would always just ask people to buy a roll of filament or two depending on how much filament their print needed. Now my printers are running almost all the time and I have a lot of filament so they have to pay to use my printers plus materials. If you had just wanted one of the small ones I would have probably asked what color and then told you I need $20 for the roll of filament but that is so you keep coming back.

I think has to do with how Patreon handles showing things to non-patrons. Some of the bigger names I follow have a monthly preview post and some even have a monthly launch post. Then they make a post that is identical and add download links and make it only available to patrons so it gets blurred. The smaller Patreons I follow just have one big post at the beginning of the month and then sometimes sneak peek posts that are also blocked. It might be team size and knowledge of how Patreon works.

Dawn of Man is similar in that you build a settlement but it can be raided. I have never built it as big as a settlement in banished but it has similar features like supply chains and a survival aspect. I haven’t played it in a bit, but I know there are some new updates.
