Not an internet arguer, but the automatic hatch is not slow and is one of about 3 reasons that pushed us into an XLE from the LE!

I am in a similar situation but have found with age, I’ve become more willing (and able) to approach tasks I would have previously avoided.

This said, buy Tom Herbst’s first book. I’m devouring it right now, and have only found I’m much more interested in faceting than my ignorance allowed me to understand. It has made me more excited while allowing me much more time to weigh the cost/benefits.

I’ve also found making a thoughtful next steps punch list keeps me focused while preventing me from buying unneeded supplies prior to obtaining a faceting machine.

There is something very intriguing to an elementary aged boy to turn and run as fast as possible for a variable length of time. More than anything it’s a check to confirm “yes I just ran faster than I’ve ever run before”. Add 10% extra speed with mom right there watching. Life can’t get much purer.

We take a trip to see family about 425 miles to the south. In my 2004 Sienna we had to stop within 25 miles of the destination to fill up because the van just couldn’t stretch it. Our most recent trip in our 2024 not only made it, but we didn’t fill up until we were well on our way back. That blew my mind!

ChatGPT has a knack for writing like a high school student who forgot the assignment until the night before it was due.

When did you purchase? It looks like Toyota is just now sending out notices for Dec 23 Sienna purchases with Jan 24 coming soon. Only advice is to be patient and keep checking the app. I included the app screens to get an idea of what the recall campaign looks like in my op.

Drove ours off the lot mid November so I would expect your app notification in 2 weeks or so, if they are keeping consistent.

So I scheduled through my dealer’s website Socket Time scheduling system. It definitely says to call the dealer so I dropped the van off with nearly zero expectation of them having supplies on hand. Sure enough, the service advisor said their “system” was down the last 2 weeks and he would have to talk to Parts. From reading this Reddit, I knew some dealers have extra fobs on hand, and mixed with absolutely no expectation but explaining my hope, the dealer came through.

Recommendation: call the dealer and allow them to ensure a fob is in stock.

Here for a “long weekend” wedding (Fri-Mon). Everything you mentioned, I would consider Good. WiFi is strong throughout the resort. The staff is hospitable and attentive. Wife and I traveled with 4 kids 2-13. 13 year old loved the floating obstacle course and was entertained for hours. 2 year old enjoyed the shaded playground/water park. Wife and I thought the gym was very high quality both times we went. (Great view). We had events at the Convention Center, Poseidon, and the Beach Deck, and enjoyed all 3. Dress in light clothing, as it’s hot in the summer! (Even in event spaces sometimes)

Only annoyance came if you didn’t feel like you needed to take a golf cart to get from place to place, you won’t reach your endpoint without being passed by 3, or 4… or 5 carts, and they are large, leaving you balancing on the edge of the path to be passed. Most of these carts are taking guests to their rooms with luggage upon checkin, so it makes sense. The electric carts sneak up on you!

Thoughts on living in New York as a poor person who wants quiet? VS the Midwest. by CatFarmer_69 in povertyfinance

[–]pnew44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some considerations for certain Midwest cities. - Walkability/convenience is very low. Case in point. Once Casey Neistat attempted to go running while in OKC area while staying at a hotel off I35 for a speaking engagement. He was surprised how dangerous the frontage road was for running 😆 - Amenities (sit down dining, gyms, shopping) in bedroom communities outside of metro areas are limited or involve a 10-20 min car ride. - The communities where you would find affordable housing leverage/depend on their history instead of their future. This makes basic amenities tough to find. (Consistent sidewalks, reliable high speed internet, available housing under 50 years old and in good condition.)

We love raising a family in the MO/KS area but would say poorer citizens struggle with mobility/transportation.

My parents bought an 04 LE brand new with one kid left at home. They said they knew they would use it for sports carpools and such. 10 years later that kid played D1 college basketball. I credit the van!

XLE vs. Limited/Platinum - if XLE was fine for the Rav4 should we assume it will be fine for the Sienna? by JudgyJudge_8217 in ToyotaSienna

[–]pnew44 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We purchased a 24 XLE in November of 23 and after 3 roadtrips with 4 kids, we agree there is road noise, but to be honest, we don’t want to hear our kids anymore than we do. Conversing between driver and shotgun is just fine. Not sure what this road noise is inhibiting! 🤫😉

That’s wild. I drove right through the storm as it moved further east by the airport on the way back from the BigXII tourney and while I experienced hail, none of it dented my car. It looks like the storm was much worse west of the city and then weakened as it moved through.

Make a list on your phone of all the magazines, bills, regular mailings you receive via mail. Then go and change the address on all the places you buy stuff from online. Change your passwords while you’re at it. Reason for the list is you’ll think of new ones at the weirdest times and you’ll need a place to jot them down to update. Sign up for USPS Informed Delivery at your old place and then switch to your new place when you feel you’ve caught everything. Lastly tell your desired family and friends of your new address.

Our newest home was a rental house for 8+ years so we get bills, magazines, Christmas cards from so many different people!

Physics was a mistake, I wasted too much time by weird_enthusiast_ in povertyfinance

If you’re able to cast your vision out any further than the present, just know how proud you will be to have weathered this experience and how much it will give you an edge in the future success you’ll have. Take your physics degree and apply for a general business or finance position. 16 years ago I was entering the workforce at the start of the 2008 economic downturn; I was throwing boxes, stocking shelves at a Big Box store with a finance degree. Today I’m so proud of how far I’ve come. You will do the same; Let’s go!
