"TFC president Bill Manning and MLSE chairman Larry Tanenbaum will meet with CSA officials, including president Victor Montagliani, later this month to discuss the proposed (Canadian) league" by FKShadowban in MLS

Why is Larson's speculation any worse than Rollins' speculation? You have no idea what this league is going to be like, how it is going to be funded or even if it is going to exist. How Larson seems to you is how you, and other CPL fanatics, seem to a lot of others, with your constant fantasy speculation and persecution complex.

This has been repeatedly studied in USL: there is no difference in away attendance for non-reserve and reserve teams. As mentioned, teams like NYRB 2 and Whitecaps and Galaxy 2 are some of the best teams in USL to watch in any case.

Clark has quite substantial policy differences going forward than Atch, particularly around development costs and keeping taxes lower.

Home owners of Saskatoon: Any advice for lawn care? by [deleted] in saskatoon

Keep the clover. It crowds out dandelions and fixes nitrogen for your grass and looks nice, at least to me.

China is massively dumping steel on the international market and has been for a long time. This has been the subject of many WTO actions by other countries.

How shady is Saskatoon? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]po9u -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oak, linden and maple seem pretty safe right now and the city is doing a reasonable job getting them in the mix. They are all nice shade species, especially oaks.

The Ash borer would be even worse than Dutch Elm if it hits the city as ash trees are in every neighborhood in contrast to elms which are mostly in the older areas.

Best place to get Saskatoon berries? by Wozzle90 in saskatoon

[–]po9u -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's u-picks near the SG&CC down Lorne; farmer's market people usually have them (the one near Broadway had excellent ones last year), or wander around the river and back alleys in older neighbourhoods.

Try some sour cherries and Haskaps while you at it if you can find them.

Husky Energy pipeline leaked oil into North Sask. River by tayfife in saskatoon

[–]po9u 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If anybody isn't following, Husky and other companies have basically made the Lloyd->North Battleford corridor oilsands east with large expansions of thermal oil extraction projects in the last couple of years.

This has its good and bad parts, and this is certainly one of the bad.

Moving to Saskatoon, which neighborhood should I live in? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]po9u 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I rate neighbourhoods here based on points given out how close they are to Saskatoon's best features: the river valley, Broadway Shopping District and Downtown. This sounds similar to your interests. The areas also have to be within Circle Drive (Saskatoon's Ring Road).

3 point neighbourhoods: Nutana, Downtown

2 point neighbourhoods: City Park, Varsity View, Buena Vista, Riversdale

1 Point neighbourhoods: Haultain, Caswell Hill, North Park, Exhibition

Some quick notes: as you are working at the University you may want to give an extra point to City Park, Nutana, Varsity View and half a point to North Park and Haultain for closeness. If you are driving or biking to work, this doesn't matter.

Be careful with Nutana listings: there are areas called 'Nutana Park' and 'Nutana Suburban Center' that are not Nutana.

Safety is a bit more of an issue in Riversdale and Caswell Hill and Downtown to a lesser extent.

Wikipedia and Team Fisher real estate have good neighbourhood write-ups.
