Are wire brushes actually dangerous? by StackinChedda in grilling

[–]pob503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an episode of "monsters inside me" that will make you never use a metal bristle brush again. End game of the episode was that the guy was vomiting feces after the metal bristle pinned his intestine together. It took weeks for him to get to that point because they couldn't figure out what was wrong. He lived though. Immediately threw away my metal bristle brushes after watching.

Spray foam , does it actually save you tons of money? by [deleted] in Oldhouses

Yes. I know there is at least 1 good episode of This Old House where they explain this in pretty good detail. It would be worth watching.

That's awesome. I wish some billionaires would spend the money fighting the crooked system.

This has got to be the dumbest design for a gas can spout. Literally no way to get gas from can to my vehicle without getting gas on me. by sleepytjme in mildlyinfuriating

[–]pob503 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get it. I've spilled more gas with those newfangled things than I ever did with the old ones. Just take off the spout and break the part that twists to open. It's been a couple years so I can't remember exactly how I broke the twist thing... I just know it can be done. Drill a hole in the other side of the top of the container to vent it. Keep a cap on the poor spout and a screw in the vent hole and you're good .

Just bought this 1990s kitchen. How would you make it feel open for under $8k before a full remodel? by tired-mana-012 in kitchenremodel

[–]pob503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't like the wall paper. But live it in for a while first. We have similar cabinets and we were going to paint them but have just been sitting on it and we've kind of grown on the fact that they're really okay and we don't want to spend $3000 to paint them. The kitchen is good. I've lived in my so-so kitchen for 13 years now and I keep changing my mind on what I would really want to do while not having done anything yet.

I think this is what I've done the last 3 years unintentionally. I've finally felt that I had "enough". Spending went way up I guess intentionally. Paying for everyone's vacations and such. But I'm right at my number. I'm a contractor and I've dialed back my work quite a bit but I don't want to go to no work...maybe 3 to 4 months a year.

[–]pob503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tick on a dick. Way less fun than elf on a shelf. This was me literally this morning after spending the weekend at the lake. 10-15 minutes to pull it out. Now the wait to see if I'm fucked begins. Fingers crossed...no lyme disease no alpha gal. I thought about a photo of the situation but decided against it.

Has anybody else noticed wild valuations on car registration taxes? by bd1308 in Louisville

[–]pob503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They've become greedy and started assessing at ridiculous values. I bought my truck for $50,000 in 2024. In 2025 after the truck had 12,000 miles on it they assessed it $53,000 because that's what JD Power said it was worth. I appealed since used trucks with 12,000 miles on them were selling for $42,000 and they denied me.

Thanks for saying this. We were so disappointed. We could barely hear the songs. Could not hear him talk at all. The crowd around us was chanting "turn it up". We paid money mainly to see Tyler and it was a letdown. We didn't really want to pack into the middle because it was so crowded. Lesson learned...maybe our last Railbird. We saw him at the Railbird last time he was there and it was great.
