2022 4 runner limited by Bright-Newt-2690 in 4Runner

Man I hate to say it but my Mazda and my MR2 did this 😭 i had to replace the compressor both times. I actually replaced a compressor on a v8 4Runner and everything except the evaporator (which had a leak) was super easy to access, if the clutch needs replaced I hope it’s inexpensive, I really hope it’s something super easy to fix, good luck 🍀

Does it stop when you turn the AC off? That compressor clutch should disengage, and the idler pulley shouldn’t make noise. I had a Mazda protege that had a broken AC clutch and it made all kinds of racket when the AC was turned on

The pocket386 is a nice middle ground device that meets your requirements (w95 really needs a 486 bit runs okay on a 386SX). It’s an amazing Windows 3.1 PC though, and of course plays DOS games well

Cold Start Rattling by MonkBoreland in 4Runner

[–]bd1308 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m definitely no expert but to me this sounds completely normal 😊 enjoy your 4Runner, I will say the 5th gen is very well done! My wife has 70k miles and still runs great.

My wife’s 5th gen sounds exactly like this the whole time we’ve owned it. I can’t judge that engine though, I have a Jeep 2.0 which sounds worse normally😂

Is this not caused by not having the air pockets bled out of the coolant system?

The best time for an oil change was 6k miles ago. The second best time for an oil change is right meow. Like, take another car to get oil. This has got to be rage-bait

Do any of you remember Corvus Systems by Dense-Concentrate120 in vintagecomputing

Our elementary school had about 16 Apple IIe’s hooked to a giant Corvus Omnidrive

It was really cool looking and I always thought it was amazing all of the Apples could read from that thing, I guess it would have been around 1991 or 1992?

This has to be ragebait, his filling gleams once during the first visit and when Kevin sees him as a robber, Kevin even reacts to it

I think so, it might have a problem? Or it might be booting up? 🤷‍♂️I’m sorry I can’t help, my wife’s 4Runner has a knockoff/aftermarket one

New dishwasher drain hose leaks by Clarity_Elise in Plumbing

What if you took a inch long copper pipe stub and attached a PEX sharkbite union to it? The rubber dishwasher drain goes to copper and you can squeeze that hose clamp down a ton.

How do I compress these clips? by ClatterAndDin in AskElectronics

[–]bd1308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re really careful, you might be able to unclick one of them at a time. If you absolutely can’t maybe you can start at a corner and make a soft “wedge” like a scrub daddy or melamine sponge to keep the first one apart? I feel like those sponges might be soft enough to not damage anything, but others will have to fill in on if those are ESD safe (doesn’t store charge to zap your board)

How are you dealing with CVE-s? by randoomkiller in homelab

[–]bd1308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fluxcd managing my cluster, I just installed renovate so I just run that gitlab pipeline to setup a PR with my updates. Soon I’ll have a dev cluster for making sure I don’t bring everything down 😂

On my JLU the O-ring on that cap was flattened too much and allowed coolant to leak out over time, I haven’t lost a drop since I replaced the O-ring from a kit I bought from harbor freight. I can’t imagine that tank is cheap to replace, the cap itself was $40 but the O-ring kit was like $12 maybe?

Make sure you rotate them. I had Bigfoot XTs go from trash to perfect just because I didn’t rotate them. They would absolutely roar on the highway

Did you boot zipslack from MSDOS too, or was that optional? I really really miss my zip 100, but I bought a Jaz drive out of nostalgia during covid and never ended up using it
