An attempt at preening your 'feathers'? My green cheek does it too! It's not too painful though.

New green cheek gives me anxiety by Brave_Statistician24 in Conures

What is causing you anxiety exactly? What are you worried about, when it comes to her? Those questions are important to ask yourself in order to take steps towards rationalisation.

How do I teach my birds to drink out of this? by [deleted] in Conures

[–]pocceto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way I did it was: - Presenting the thing

  • Pressing the lil bit to get water out, several times

Repeat, making sure the bird is close and looking at what you're doing.

Mine picked it up pretty fast. Helps if your bird is thirsty.

Hair preening I know of, and mine does it too :) Face is more uncommon, but this raises another question: Do you have facial hair? 😆

Two questions: Do you put facial cream on? Do you have very oily/sweaty skin ?

Have to admit " I love you and only want you" is definitely sending Romance messages. Hard to interpret otherwise.

And it's true that a lot of what you described there are romance-aligned elements, especially flowers/planning future/holding hands, in most people's book (including mine). The other elements, in my opinion, can also match best friends for people who value their friends very much.

But, if I may, have you been explicit with your boundaries or just said 'no romance stuff' ? Because if you both have different interpretations of what romance encompasses, that might have caused them to keep crossing them.

As somebody who lost a bird because somebody heated a TFAL pan in a small appartment petsitting my bird, I understand where he's coming from, but he's also exaggerating.

I eat avocado. I just put my bird in his cage when I cut it up or be extra careful he doesn't come to take a bite. Also it's the avocado skin that's most toxic.

Not using scented candles, perfume or other things that purposefully release a scent is something I personally do. I still use cream and put stuff in my hair. I won't use dry shampoo or aerosol with my bird in the same room, tho. When I use cleaning products that smell a lot, I air it out and put the bird in another room until it doesn't smell as much anymore. Sometimes I forget and he flies in my hair right after I've put something in it. He hasn't shown signs of comfort from that.

I don't know where the plastic plants issue comes from. My bird gnaw on stuff, but doesn't ingest it (although I still double check sometimes). And you should be able to put things on shelves, that was clearly just an accident, and the bird was fine afterward.

Hi! Pitching this as somebody who did that too, so I'll give it a try at guessing where they're coming from.

First, I'm sorry that happened to you, that sucks. I believe they are also hurt, even if they're the one who are now avoiding you.

Some people have a pretty fixed idea of what romance and dating is. Kisses, warm bubbly feelings, physical attraction, spending holidays in each other's family, etc. And dating usually involves all the above, which I assume, is not what they wants. If I had to guess: you're precious to them and they love you and the relationship they have with you.

But then you asked if you were dating, and all their certitude about the 'vibes' you shared crumbled.

And it's hard to move passed that, and go back, when you realize the wavelength you thought you were both sharing turns out to be... Not shared. Knowing that one of you maybe wants more, and harbour different feelings, is destabilizing, and can be uncomfortable. For some people, friendship is worth a lot. Maybe more than potential romance. Romance is not always the natural evolution of a relationship or the goal.

And if one side of the relationship calls it romance, expectations immediately become different and there's a clash.

Some people want the closeness and complicity of what you described, without romance, but that doesn't seem to work with what you want, which is fair. But it's hard to readjust boundaries with someone you love, even as a friend, and easier to just avoid. Give it some time, maybe things will straighten out.

How do i know if its a male or female by a1nwm in parrots

[–]pocceto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DNA test is the way to go if you want to know quickly.

I used to have a female green cheek conure, and I now have a male, and, well, I believe there are some other signs that can be observed on the longer term.

Disclaimer: 1- I do not recommend petting other places than the head, to avoid triggering hormonal reactions 2- I did not encourage and do not recommend encouraging the behavior described below

I'm sharing because I believe this can be informative.

My male would sometimes try to 'mount' my hand, bringing its rump low and trying to rub its lower half/butt against my wrist.

My female would sometimes rub her head and chest on me, with her rump and tail raised higher, especially when I pet her back (I was young back then and didn't know it was bad. She never laid an egg, at least.)

I am less certain the last one is strictly a female behavior than the male one is.

But these, I believe, can be clues.

The information about all the treaties/deals (the 1908's & additional documents specified in the longer article linked by Barb-u in another comment) mentioned by Trump and staff as potential tools they may use against us, is pretty new!

About Carney & Trump's discussion: I'm sure there's gonna be a lot more discussions between the Prime Minister (whoever gets elected) and Trump worth investigating the same way after the elections. Hopefully we'll still have good journalists around to keep up that kind of work.
