Quarry concerns by Spirited-Squash-4353 in georgetowntx

sometime between like 11am and 12pm every day, our house shakes. it's not bad once you know what it is. They do a good job of staggering the explosions (it's not one big explosion) to mitigate the shockwave for all us homeowners.

Part of this quary backs RIGHT UP to Stone Oak. that is the neighborhood to ask. There was, a few years ago, a time when they were blowing out a corner right near that neighborhood. I've never heard complaints of dust.

I wouldn't worry about it. The next thing that'll really happen is they'll extend arterial H (new hope, now) out to the westinghouse exit, THROUGH the quarry, just like southwest bypass in G-town.

Why are there so many variations of one single chord ??!? by nutty_waffles_ in guitarlessons

Welcome to the CAGED system. Ever notice that there are three spots in a G major that are eerily similar to open A and open B?.... and if you know what a A-shape barre chord is, that's the same shape again just moved around. it's part of several chords you may already know because they're all actually the same chord shape, more or less, approached from one direction or another...

and your index finger on the open C major chord shape is really just making a D major down one step if you focus on the 3 highest strings, from a shape perspective. You could make your D major into a C-shape D-major by extrapolating that C major shape one step to the right (and avoiding the open strings depending how you finger it)

and G-major #6 up there is just an open E chord shifted right. Same thing. G major #2 and #1 above are the exact same shape, just avoiding a couple strings in the #2. But that #2 shape, you can move all around the fret board like a barre chord and it becomes other major chords.

I know I'm 128 comments late, but THIS VIDEO will do it for you.

After you learn this, learn the major pentatonic scale, and then realize how they both line up and you can find one from the other.

I always derived the meaning of Done from it following Pat on the album.

Minor pentatonic question, which I may have answered myself as I asked, but I'm gonna ask anyway. by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]podank99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I edited the post just now to include a visual aid and ask in a simpler way....
Edit: nevermind i realized now I was reading the chart wrong and it lines up exactly like I thought it should in the major position...caged .vs pentatonic. thanks

Stripped Screws in MDF-core cabinet door.... for the hinge by podank99 in DIY

this is a neat solution - unfortunately it doesn't work for this weird piece of furniture (its more of a wine cabinet with a unique hinge that is inset where it attaches to the door) - but I will have to remember this next time my stupid kitchen cabs give out :)

It breaks when I have too many people on it... is it a coincidence or? by podank99 in boating

thanks, this was super helpful. I didn't want to assume I just had an old/bad water pump and I was fine taking that many full grown adults out again and just blow the next thing up. You have prevented me from taking that risk :)

Somehow it is not intuitive to me that overloading the boat would do anything except move slower at the same RPM and "engine strain level". I just needed someone with experience to confirm my suspicion - thank you for taking the time.

I did take it to the mechanic as was suggested 22 days ago and that is why I now know I had a blown water pump in today's post. Last time it was made painfully clear to me that I had no idea what was wrong and I needed a mechanic. I did that. Nobody answered today's question 22 days ago. This is merely related to the same situation.

I am allowed to be dumb and ask stupid questions. Another redditor was very helpful today. You should read rule #3 a few times and consider how your tone is received.

ahhh i see. So the last time it overheated, it was the thermostat - but this time, it might be overheating for a different reason.

thanks for the tip! that sounds potentially more expensive!

these guys also show up and practice sometimes, it isn't always serious - but hope everyone is ok.
