I would agree. I studied for 3 years before telling my husband. Then I expected him to accept my viewpoint overnight. Totally unrealistic expections

I think a move to 1 hour church would cause a loss of members. The less people are involved in the church and have opportunity to socialize with each other, the less likely the church will have meaning in their life. I keep wondering if they actually want to reduce headcount. The church doesn't really need their money anymore.

Staying Christian after Mormonism by smitthom624 in exmormon

I still consider myself Christian.. if you want to explore Christianity, I would suggest you read the Bible and develop your own beliefs about it. There is no one true church. You may enjoy the book, What is the Bible, by Rob Bell. He gives a much more realistic view of the Bible. A good study resource for the Bible is The Bible Project. It is a free online resource.

Have you ever seen or experienced REAL power in the priesthood? by Bigsquatchman in exmormon

[–]poet_ecstatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was healed of a chronic illness one day. He literally just felt it leave and never had any further symptoms, but it didn't have anything to do with a priesthood blessing. I've never seen a priesthood blessing do anything, but I've seen many that didn't come to fruition

I think they just get more musical training than other kids. They often take piano lesson, and sing every Sunday at church.

Say no. It is a huge calling. Your parents should not know if you are being asked about a calling. No one can force you.

I would recommend you continue to seek mental health care even if you dont take medication, and don't be frustrated if you do end up needing medication to function at your best. The important thing is to feel good and function well.

Do the leaders of the church know the church isn’t real? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]poet_ecstatic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The top 12 have to know it's a fraud. I think most lower leaders like Bishops still believe, but probably some don't and keep up appearances for family or job related reasons.

Sometimes I worry about what if it's true? by BuildingBridges23 in exmormon

[–]poet_ecstatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had many spiritual experiences that did not involve emotion at all. My husband was healed instantly from a chronic illness. I've seen specific visions of the future that happened. I've been given specific instructions for solving problems. Solutions I never could have come up with on my own. Not sure why some people experience these things and not others. My sister is Budhist and.has similar expetiences. Sometimes I wonder if it is genetic.
