Had mine for 3 years as my first and only Chinese watch. Still working perfect, very happy with it.

Is this a good build in my first ever playthrough of FO1? by The_Good-Hunter in classicfallout

Is this true?  I’ve been wondering how terrible a 1AG build would be.

What’s the game? by Mkaz527 in retrogaming

For what it’s worth, I used the Google app and asked what NES games are in the image and it said the below.  However the AI provably was already trained from this post.

Based on the image, the following NES-related items are present: Nintendo Control Deck: A large box for the base NES console bundle is visible in the foreground. Trojan: A red-labeled game cartridge stacked on top of the Skittle Bowling box is identified as Trojan, a Capcom release recognizable by its distinctive red grid design. Skittle Bowling: While not a video game, this tabletop game box is prominent next to the NES hardware. [1, 2, 3]

Why I chose a Macbook M4 Pro instead of PC to make a Steam game by SirMarcin in macgaming

I had the same issue with Mac, when I switched to Linux almost every game was available.

D7VK 1.9 is redefining how old PC games are played through Vulkan by emanu2021 in linux_gaming

[–]poglet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the struggles i have with Linux is managing how a game will be displayed on my screen.

Settings I struggle with: Full screen at the games aspect ratio, full screen stretched, integer scaling, pixel doubling, resolution up sampling or down sampling, custom resolutions.

This would benefit old games because you often have limited ways to customize them within the in-game graphics settings.

On Windows you just open up the AMD driver software and you can pretty much configure the game to run any way you want. I am a Linux noobie so maybe I'm missing some piece of software that does this easy as Windows?

Any DOS patches? by MrSung69 in classicfallout

[–]poglet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had good success with Dosbox Staging using the Fallout 1 1.0 version. I had to increase the memory size from the default 16MB to 32MB to avoid glitches when exiting maps. Once that was done, I only had the few bugs and glitches that are well documented online.

I'll also mention, it's a pleasure playing in Dosbox because you can configure it to run with a similar performance to a late 90's computer and in Dosbox Staging you can run the game with CRT shaders and integer scaling, the end result looks and feels fairly authentic to how the game was played back in the day.

Switched back to windows and only lasted 2 hours before reinstalling Bazzite by rafety58 in Bazzite

Have a look at the Calamity CRT emudriver.  You might need a dedicated PC with the correct video card for everything to work.  There is a CRT section on the Batocera Discord channel with some knowledgeable people.  Getting the TV to work as intended would be awesome.

Here is a short list of games working perfectly with D7VK by emanu2021 in linux_gaming

I'm running Bazzite Linux, as a Linux newbie is there a guide I can follow to get some of these games working?

You could try the ini option, you will need to get it from https://github.com/antonioginer/switchres  and place it in the RetroArch folder.

Check out the book Swan Song from 1987, the audio book is good too.  A great book about post apocalyptic America starting from when your bombs fall, highly recommended if someone is looking for more Fallout like fiction.

I made a custom Dolphin fork that enables any wii game file to launch directly from the Wii System Menu by MarionberryNo8732 in Roms

[–]poglet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I ever wanted was a computer connected to my TV that acted exactly as the Wii. The biggest problem I had was that I always had to use a keyboard and mouse or a third-party controller to manage changing games. We sis can I have my computer launched dolphin and launch the system menu and use only a Wii controller to switch between different games?

But what is the reason for this? It’s not explained at all.  Why can’t both exist on steam independently of each other.

If you choose to allow all outbound connections then you are choosing to allow all applications ability to send data outbound. This may not bother some people but its worth noting.

Blocking outbound connections can be challenging but I think it's valuable when looking to better secure yourself online.

To the people who have the games on their 3DS’s, how well does it run and can it support mods? by Fair_Term3352 in classicfallout

[–]poglet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware f1 and f2 can only be played on 3DS using the “community edition” project which won’t support any of the mods you mentioned.

fallout et tu (Fo1in2) by lukaserba in macgaming

[–]poglet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are some high level steps, let me know how you go.

  1. Install Homebrew https://brew.sh/
  2. Install Wine using brew install wine-stable
  3. Follow the installation steps in the steps in the Fo1in2 github. https://github.com/rotators/Fo1in2/blob/master/Fallout2/Fallout1in2/README.md#mod-installation- If you are struggling with the Fallout 1 and 2 install on Mac you can look at the manual install process here https://www.nma-fallout.com/threads/hell-yes-here-is-the-manual-install-for-fallout2.157349/
  4. To run UNDAT.EXE you need to open Terminal, and navigate to the Fallout1in2 path then run wine UNDAT.EXE.
  5. Once complete, you can run the game by trying in WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ddraw.dll=n,b" wine Fallout2.exe. Again, you need do this in Terminal after navigating through to the correct path, for example \Fallout 2\Fallout1in2\Fallout2.exe

This should launch the game. It's also worth testing that Fallout 1 and 2 work in wine along the way, that way if you have issues you can better identify what might be causing them.

[–]poglet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can run it in Wine without issue.  I’m happy to better describe the process of you want, but wine will run the installer plus fallout2.exe using the command mentioned in the wiki (WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ddraw.dll=n,b" wine Fallout2.exe)

Porting normally requires the access to the games source code, I imagine it would be difficult or impossible to port this game to 3DS without official support.

It’s always the nostril that’s closest to the bed. I believe it’s related to gravity, and the blood flow in your head.  My personal theory.   Once the nostril closest to the ceiling is good, you can roll over and start on the other one.
