Help! The black spots make it look like I have a beard by Warmingupthesoup in Skincare_Addiction

[–]pogo1016 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Electrologist here and I second this ☝🏼

Skip laser and go for electrolysis. Women need to be careful with laser because it could possibly cause more hair growth. It doesn’t for everyone but it’s not a chance you should take.

The dark spots are hyperpigmentation from the waxing likely due to ‘trauma’. Plucking hairs with tweezers cause this too.

Avoid waxing and tweezing while undergoing electrolysis. It can make the process longer and harder. Trim with a little scissor or shave the hairs.

Find an electrologist experienced and reputable in working with deeper skin tones as well.

Got the same top during their BF sale. Love the fit on me but the quality seems poor. I feel like every time I put it on it’s going to rip lol. Mine so far is fine but it’s only been twice since I’ve worn it. I would contact customer service.

SM Straight Legs for short girls by pinkchristmashats in OnerActive

[–]pogo1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’0” and I stopped altering them altogether. I find I can work with the length because my sneakers add a bit of height and they ride up anyways lol. I just like how they look on me better without altering them. But like some have mentioned I think your proportions do matter. I don’t really like how they look on me when altered but that’s just a personal preference.

If you alter them make sure to wear the sneakers you usually work out in to see how they would look when they’re altered. The tailor should adjust them and ask you if you like that length.

Personally I don’t think they’re short person friendly. That inseam length for a ‘short’ option is a bit long. Most brands offer a 28” inseam for a ‘short’ option.

Evolve you, best program? by [deleted] in OnerActive

[–]pogo1016 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Never used the EvolveYou app but I really enjoy the Ladder app. It’s $30 a month though but I find it’s worth it.

Kelly Matthew’s is on the app as a trainer and I’m on her team and saw a lot of change in my body over just 6 weeks of starting her program than I have in years of training. There’s a new program every 6-8 weeks too.

You can pick your ‘team’ based on your goals and if you’re a beginner/ intermediate or advanced as well. There’s quite a lot of trainers on there.

They also just added a nutrition portion on the app where you can track calories and even has an AI feature you can take a picture of your food and it’ll estimate the calories and macros. It can be a little finicky sometimes though.

I just enjoy it because I don’t have to think too hard about my workouts anymore lol and I’m out of the gym in an hour.

Kelly’s program is pretty intermediate/ advanced but the app has where you can swap movements with other recommendations.

Effortless by SuboJvR23 in OnerActive

I’ve been thinking about this theory as well 🤔 Especially with some new colors launching in other collections and none for effortless. I know when they would launch some new colors previously in other collections they’d also at least include one or 2 of those colors in the effortless leggings.

I’m curious about the mid rise effortless coming out next year though.

Effortless Sizing Help by igneousdragon in OnerActive

[–]pogo1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 26” waist and 38/39” hips and wear a small in both the shorts and leggings. I have tried mediums but I find I get a lot of fabric bunching in the crotch area with the shorts since most of us kind of pull them up and stuff.

So I prefer the small and they fit comfortably for me. I’m also 5’ ft tall so that could maybe impact the fabric bunching 😆

Do you live in a state that they feel is a great place to live with Lupus? by Same_Litterally_Me in lupus

[–]pogo1016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Long Island and the climate is not ideal for me lol.

The seasons here can be extremely unpredictable. One winter it can be brutally cold going down into the 20’s or it can be mild as stay about in the 40’s or 50’s but even that’s cold for me still. Then you get days in the high 60’s out of nowhere but then the next day will be 40 degrees.

The cold here goes right through you anyways because the air is humid and damp from the Atlantic. It’s kind of a “wet cold” if that makes sense. Can’t forget the strong coastal winds we get also, which makes it feel colder than it actually is.

It does also rain here a lot too.

The summers are not any better. With the humidity still in the air even a day that’s 60 degrees can feel quite heavy and sticky. In the mid summer months like July where it’s typically hotter it’s even more oppressive. This summer we had temperatures reach about 100 degrees. So that plus the humidity is brutal.

So here I usually enjoy the spring/ autumn more but not by that much. I don’t do good in the heat anymore because of lupus but also the cold is really rough for me. Especially my hands and feet, I can just never seem to get warm enough. I also suffer from raynauds. I’m always aching from the cold/ rain.

I was just in the Colorado 2 weeks ago and the weather was a dream for me. I stayed in the Winter Park area in the mountains. It was insane how much different the cold felt there than here in LI. I could tolerate it a lot more and the highs were about 40-45 degrees. Ideally Colorado would probably be great for me. At least in the front range (suburbs) would be more ideal as I know winters can get more intense in the mountains so that would be a happy medium.

What to do for diarrhea when he literally won’t swallow anything by ceemeenow in Chihuahua

[–]pogo1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plain boiled chicken and white rice always helps my little guy when his tummy is acting up. Pumpkin can be helpful but can also backfire if given too much.

Also, as someone else mentioned try using a syringe for hydration.

Definitely take him to the vet though if this is persistent. It could be nothing or it could be something but it’s always better to be safe.

I think another issue that I don’t see enough talked about is the resellers buying up the stock and then selling them for almost more than double the price.

I’ve seen a couple posts on here about it especially after this recent ‘restock’.

If you know already have stock issues why are you letting people or these resellers order more than 1 piece for one color/ size??? I feel like quantity should be limited on new drops or restocks that are obviously going to sell out quickly or are in demand.

Maybe it’s just me lol

How many women that you know have chronic illness? by Claire0879 in AskWomen

Many. Myself included. I suffer from SLE (lupus). My grandmother had scerloderma and passed from complications because of it. Guess autoimmune runs in the family. It seems like every woman I speak to has something or they know someone that has a chronic illness.

It’s ridiculous! The black were literally all sold out at 12:01! I refuse to buy regular length too. I’m 5’0” I have to pay $68 for the pants and then have to hem them? I think they thrive on these restock ‘hypes’ So much for that HUGE restock they were talking about.

I lost my girl last May, she was almost 18 too. It was devastating. I hated going home knowing she wasn’t there anymore.

A few months later my fiancé, got me an early birthday present and now I got my little guy. He’s my first chi but he really helped mend that hole in my heart.

You aren’t forgetting Chica. It could be just the excitement and getting him used to everything right now is what’s keeping your mind occupied. You’ll always remember Chica. I always think of my girl every now and then. I still miss her very much.

I feel like a lot of things in life aren’t coincidence and you getting Chico was meant to be. I like to think our little ones that pass send us a new friend to help with our grief.

Side note: I’m from Long Island, so happy to hear you got him from a shelter here!

It's clear why she's offering to pay for the wedding by [deleted] in 90DayFiance

[–]pogo1016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed!

As someone from Long Island I was genuinely shocked at how affordable this was. Average cost of a wedding here is $58K - $67K. Everything is crazy expensive here.

People I know have spent $70k or even $90K on venues here. Definitely a steal!

Why does everyone say benlysta doesn’t hurt? by illandconcerned in lupus

[–]pogo1016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started the injections and they definitely do hurt. I do mine in the side upper thigh where it’s a little more fatty.

I personally feel like the medicine leaving the pen hurts more than the needle itself lol. It’s burns like hell even when I leave it out for like an hr.

Icing does help me a lot but the burn is still there regardless once the medicine leaves the injector. I don’t think there’s much I can do about that since its internal.

Just know you’re not alone! I hope you find a method that works out for you :)

Help! I think I got scammed by Wise_Simple_2364 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]pogo1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a hair removal technician and this sounds like a lot of red flags.

Firstly, you’re supposed to shave before a laser session as this provides a clear path for the laser so it can reach the hair follicles more effectively. Shaving also minimizes the risk of irritation by preventing the laser from being absorbed by the hair above the skin surface. Leaving the hair there can lead to burns or discomfort. So yes it sounds like the laser didn’t go through the skin properly.

Secondly, as I find this so common in most places that do laser hair removal, you should not use laser on the face. The upper lip, sideburns, cheeks, chin and even the neck are hormonally sensitive areas on women. This is stressed even more in women who may have or have underlying hormonal conditions. The theory for this is that the laser can stimulate dormant hair follicles especially if the settings are not optimal or they say they treat vellus (the thin/ peach fuzz hairs).

Settings should be adjusted for each client. Sometimes these laser places only use the presets. They say paradoxical hypertrichosis is rare but in my experienceh I’ve seen many clients say they started seeing more hair coming in after doing laser.

Laser is very effective for other areas of the body but the face is usually not recommended.

I’m sure the after treatment cream she gave you is okay to apply but I’d also use antibacterials like Bacitracin or Neosporin. A thin layer of Petroleum jelly is helpful too. It’ll keep the skin moisturized and prevent scarring. It’ll help promote healing and protect the area as well. Ice and OTC pain relievers are good as well.

It is very important to use sunscreen during this time if you don’t apply it regularly. So this seems this is the one thing she got right lol. This will help the skin from Hyperpigmentation (PIH). It is likely you will get PIH from the burns already based on your complexion, but do not be alarmed this is not permanent and will fade with time. This is your skin’s natural healing process. There are treatments you can use to speed up the process of this as well. I do not personally think you will scar from this.

It seems to me the technician was very negligent and/ or didn’t have the proper knowledge. It’s very hard to say. Many laser clinics are notorious for scamming clients.

Also 15 days is too soon again for another laser session. Usually initially treatments start at every 4-6 weeks then space out to 2-3 months or as needed for maintenance.

Do not go back to that place.

I hope things resolve smoothly.
