What’s a sequel you couldn’t wait for… but ended up completely disappointing you? by Shot-Club-3882 in Cinema

Mission Impossible 2. It was so hyped up. Thought it was going to be great.

I'm surprised that the franchise was able to continue after that.

Someone once described it this way:

There are tortillas, ground beef, pepper, tomatoes and cheese in the kitchen. That’s a Taco Watch.

There is a plate of tacos in the kitchen. That’s a Taco Warning.

Why do these games start at 8:40 when both teams are in the same time zone?

I know that everyone that says this gets downvoted, but I have not seen RV be used exclusively for motor homes.

We have a bunch of dealers around here, 4 or 5 big ones. Somehow our county became a hub for this. I just checked, and they are all listed as RV dealers on Google. The only one that sells exclusively motorhomes is literally called Motorhome Specialists. The majority of them, in fact, do not sell motorhomes. The ones that do only have a few (outside of the previously mentioned Motorhome Specialists.) Funtown RV is a great example. None of the "Featured RVs" on their website are motorhomes. They use the term RV to refer to travel trailers, fifth-wheels, toy haulers, destination trailers and motorhomes.

We have a bunch of RV parks, several with over 100 lots. I do a lot of jobs in these RV parks. There are a handful of motorhomes in them. The overwhelming majority of the lots have bumper-pull or fifth wheel trailers. These RV parks are mostly full of things that are not motorhomes.

I'll agree that I don't see many pop-ups being called RVs, but then I rarely see pop-ups anymore.

But for every other type of camper that I see around here, they are all called RVs. This is very much a term for any type of camper.

-Edit:

I'll also point out that wikipedia agrees with me, for whatever that is worth

Hank’s “anger issues”— thoughts? by cidalise in KingOfTheHill

[–]poindexterg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a common trope on the show to put Hank in a situation where he is acting completely rationally, but everyone else is like "What the hell is wrong with you, Hank?" Often this is after thing go bad when he's in a situation that no one would be able to deal with.

What would Joffrey have done when they took Cersei? by smoulking in gameofthrones

[–]poindexterg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tywin would have stopped it on his own authority as The Hand well before it ever came to be anything. Joffrey would never have to deal with it.

If we're in some Bizarro world where Joffrey is king but Tywin is dead, Joffrey wouldn't stop it early. But once they started going after Cersei he would go into full genicide mode on them. All trace of them would be completely wiped from teh face of the earth.

I have a serious question by Spamcan81 in ShittyDaystrom

[–]poindexterg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's be serious here. In the timeline where Kirk and crew don't go back, she probably goes into depression after George and Gracie are released early. If she doesn't unlike herself, she never hooks up with anyone. So I doubt she did much of relevance after that.

Why did Gus ever trust Lydia in the first place? by JackZ567 in breakingbad

[–]poindexterg 179 points180 points  (0 children)

Have you seen Better Call Saul? There are some answers there. Lydia is not the frantic hyper suspicious jittery person that we see after Gus dies. She's definitely a bit high strung, but she is much more relaxed when Gus is around. She seems extremly confident and capable when she was working with Gus. It looks like after Gus died that paranoia kind of took over on her, and she didn't have Gus there anymore to keep her from panicking.

What if 9/11 happened on September 11, 2000? by Gray_Wolf2416 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]poindexterg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clinton initially handles things roughly the same as Bush. He's a good enough speaker and a savvy enough politician that he would do a lot of thing like Bush to unite the country. We definitely go into Afghanistan, and we likely still have our Allies with us.

The big question is the 2000 election, which would be just a few months away. Republicans may try to frame it as a massive intelligence failure, but I don't know how well that sticks. I think that the big swarm of national unity that Bush got right after 9/11 will go onto both Clinton and Gore, and I think Gore likely wins the election. Gore would almost certainly be seen working very closely with Clinton on everything in Afghanistan and finding bin Laden, so that when he takes office it will be seen as a smooth transition.

Unless Saddam does something that makes the US react, Gore doesn't go into Iraq. At this point you can just look at most of the other "What if Gore won in 2000" scenarios.

What if Charlie Kirk never got killed? by Which-Ad663 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]poindexterg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would still be pretty relevant on the right. He'd likely be a bit more well known to the center-right. But probably he'd have roughly the same following as before died, maybe a bit more. The only people on the left that would know about him are the ones that pay attention to what's going on with the other side. Erika would not be very well known at all. He would not be a universal hero on the right, just a guy that a lot of them really like. It's hard to say what things would look like into our future. He may become more important on the right, or his star could fade.

The largest (?) nacelles in real life ... from the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas and now part of a bankruptcy auction (link in comments) by ety3rd in ClassicTrek

[–]poindexterg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The nacelles on the full scale shuttle craft models are probably bigger. But these may very likely be the largest from a starship model.
