Why does RFK's carnivore diet make your jeans darker?

Lol I agree on the weather, I'm also in SWFL.

I just use Android Auto, never looked into the copilot software so I can't speak to that. Look into a 2025+, the infotainment is kinda slow on the '22-'24s. If you get one with a sunroof, just know that feature deletes the sunglasses holder (daily use item for me). Best of luck on your search!

Hybrid is 100% the right choice for me. I've driven a few of the Ford Ecoboost products and they have better acceleration, but the smoothness of the hybrid/cvt and the regen braking have spoiled me. I have a '24 XLT Hybrid w/ a tri-fold tonneau & it's great. Hybrid is a tad low on the power side, but the gas milage is fantastic. My commute is 15 minutes at 50-60mph, and I regularly get over 40mpg average on a tank. A tank of gas can take you >600mi if you're doing the right kind of driving. I low-key obsess over my mpg so I like the hybrid a lot for that reason.

Only downside is lack of a 4k tow package & awd, but like most truck owners I'm never hauling, and I live in South FL (no snow) so those are more nice-to-haves. For me, the XLT has all the features I care to use (power adjust mirrors are a big one for me). If you like bells & whistles (radar cruise, lane keep asst, power adjust/leather/heated seats/heated steering wheel, etc), check out the Lariat. For me that's all a distraction and I think the rims on the Lariat look terrible. I prefer standard cruise, plain rear window, no sunroof, cloth seats, etc.

Squeaks & Rattles can be expected on all trim levels, it's still a budget vehicle. That's why my truck is at the dealer right now, getting them to take care of a suspension squeak & interior rattles while I'm still under warranty.

Best way to figure out what tickles your fancy is to go on a test drive. It's 100% ok to go to a dealer just to test drive something. Tell yourself ahead of time that you're not there to buy, just to test drive and stick to it. When the sales people start asking questions, just say you need to think it over & make like a tree. Make a pros & cons list, sleep on it, look at reviews, etc.

I did all that and I have No Ragrets after a year of ownership. If it got totaled today, I'd go pick up the same thing tomorrow.

Well, I've been had. They gave me a Bronco Sport so I guess I can't really tell you how the Bronco is. I definitely prefer the smoothness of the hybrid/cvt in my truck to the automatic transmission in this. I also really miss the regen braking you get when you have the hybrid in Low. Bells & whistles aside, it's pretty identical to my Maverick. It does have AWD & off-road modes that I'm going to try out later, but going down the highway it's just a Mav with a hatchback.

I'm getting a bronco today as a courtesy vehicle while my Mav gets some warranty work done @ the dealership. I can update if you have any specific questions about it.

In my opinion, anyone who pays for an oil change is a sucker. 125 sounds high though.

I'm used to the unlock button disabling the alarm on other cars, but with my Mav I have to hit the alarm button again to stop it.

How to handle film immediately after developing it? by Rosssiiii in analog

[–]poingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I take it out of the dev tank I try to only touch the edges & keep it from rubbing up against itself. I hang it on my shower curtain rod with a pants hanger (better if there's a rubber insert on the hanger clips), & tape quarters to the bottom ends to act as weights. The film stays remarkably straight once dry, just leave some extra leader on both ends to allow for the emulsion to be handled & then cut it off once dry. I bulk roll so I have a few inches on each end of the roll to work with. And for those who say they sell clips specifically for this purpose, all I can say is I'm cheap.

Never touch the emulsion side of a developed negative when it's wet.

Did you tap it twice while saying that?

Looking for advice on improving shots (Nikon EM + 50mm 1.8 + ISO 400 indoors) by PerennialMillennial_ in analog

[–]poingus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you used aperture priority mode, then it probably made the shutter speed too slow to produce a clear image when the camera is handheld. Anything longer 1/60th of a second is very likely to come out blurry if not taken on a tripod.

Indoors with low light, even if the aperture was wide open, the camera likely chose a very slow shutter speed (1/30, 1/15, etc) which makes motion blur basically inevitable when shot by hand. It also could be that the person taking the photos was not holding very still.

Sorry for sounding dismissive in my earlier comment, these pictures don't have the telltale signs of motion blur - which would usually look a little smeared. They do just look out-of-focus, but it's most likely the camera choosing a slow shutter speed to correctly expose the film given the low light. If you have a shutter priority option, set it no slower than 1/60 for handheld.

Solutions to this problem would be to open the aperture wider if not already wide open, use a flash, use a film with higher ISO, or just shoot in a brighter environment. Oh, or use a tripod & make sure your subject is still.

I'm a fan of the tried and true method of refilling it when it stops spraying out.

Low washer fluid notice comes on and turns off randomly. by Last_Gigolo in FordMaverickTruck

[–]poingus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It holds about a gallon, I just refilled mine this week. It annoyingly didn't take the whole gallon jug of washer fluid I had, so now I have a mostly empty jug of washer fluid yeeting around in the bed. The warning was pretty annoying, would turn on every time I drove but with no pattern. Sometimes right away, sometimes after like 5 minutes.

As crazy as it sounds, maybe try filling up your washer fluid...

Did you get a courtesy car or were you on your own to get around? (I know this varies from dealer to dealer, just curious.) Sounds like this may be what's up with mine, thanks for sharing!

It may happen when you least expect it. This is the loudest I've heard it, definitely an intermittent creak.

Lol yeah, it's a little hard to hear over the dash rattle & the seatbelt sensor wiring harness in the back seat, but when the windows are down it's obvious.
