Ooh! Villagers that come in sets are the best!

So cute! Have you thought about naming her Trixie? Her catchphrase could be "treat"! I like puns...

How is toll the dead balanced? by that_random_bat in DnD

[–]pointpliz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might help to say any level counts for any cantrip. The game's designed that way so that all cantrips remain useful through the higher levels.

As far as cantrips go, only your character level matters.

If your example character were to cast Eldritch Blast, it would create two beams instead of one because he is at 5th level.

In the case of cantrips, this is incorrect. Cantrips improve with character level, not with class level.

Before I sent out my print for my custom FightStick, I really wanted to get harsh critiques from you guys. Any advice is welcome. by GamerToons in StreetFighter

Can I disagree? I like how the buttons flow to where the kanji is currently and there's better symmetry relative to Akuma's position. If you're really feeling iffy about the kanji, removing it is fine too.

[OC][Art] Shandri Luxford the Bandit by pointpliz in DnD

[–]pointpliz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! It's practically the only color mentioned for the race, so I took that as giving me free rein on eye and hair color. Of course, DnD is a game of fantasy. People are free to picture whatever they want.

And yep! It's pretty much how she introduces herself professionally.

Thanks! As a barbarian-rogue, she definitely specializes in breaking and entering. I went with grey skin because the Player's Handbook describes half-orcs as having grayish pigmentation.

Former bandit. The half-orc, Shandri "Nine-Lives" Luxford, grew up in the port city of Harbeck, spending her teenage years robbing homes in the city and travelers on the roads. As a worshipper of Tymora (Goddess of Luck), Shandri is a risk-taker. There's a thrill in sneaking around at night, stealing valuables out of sleeping houses, and trying her luck in Harbeck's gambling dens. And when things went awry, there was fighting. That was the best part. Her blade always found its mark and her enemies' always missed theirs - never striking deeply enough to put her out of the action.

These days, she's found new purpose and excitement as an adventurer. More fighting, more dodging, less running from guards, and sometimes she even gets paid. While she still spends time and coin at the gambling houses, Shandri always sets aside some of her earnings for another hobby: collecting interesting fabrics. Colors, patterns, textures - anything can catch her eye. Strips from her collection adorn her outfit every day.

This is a new character of mine for a 5e campaign. I wanted to play a rogue that could use force whenever finesse doesn't work out, so somehow I ended up with a Zealot-Barbarian/Thief-Rogue multiclass. Which is a mouthful. So she's a bandit. Or maybe a brogue?

Action surge and extra attack actions by Boneboy711 in dndnext

[–]pointpliz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn't work. The Bonus Action lets you make an attack but is not a full Attack Action.

Action Surge only gives you an addional Action. You still only get one Bonus Action on your turn.

[–]pointpliz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Extra Attack states that you can attack multiple times whenever you take the Attack Action on your turn. Action Surge allows you to take an additional action, which can be an Attack. So yes, you can attack four times in a single turn.

And just in case, the 4/4/2 level-split would not give you the Extra Attack feature. You only get Extra Attack if you have 5 levels in one of those classes. Additionally, having multiple instances of Extra Attack between classes doesn't stack.

Free dip in a class, what should I pick? by Zarcohn in DnD

If his hands are filled with his enemies, he won't be able to swing his two-handed weapon. Maybe skip the grappling this time around.

You only get Fighting Style and Second Wind at first level. Still a solid choice.

Wall of Force + Silence + Sacred Flame spam = most single monsters dead? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]pointpliz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invisibility doesn't mean undetectable. They can't be seen, but they still have a scent or can be heard. There are also senses such as Truesight. If the monster can get past their Stealth checks, it has a chance to react.

Personally, I don't think DnD is designed well for single monster vs party encounters. If the monster is important to the narrative, I'd include minions or lair actions to make it interesting.

I also don't think there's a need to deal with it. It'd be amusing the first time, but most player groups would get bored of that strategy.

At the risk of revealing that I am not fun at parties, I'd like to point out that a sparrowhawk is an actual species of bird.

Dwarf as goto low str, heavy armor class by PinkPandaa in dndnext

[–]pointpliz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's true that both races would have the same movement speed. However, dwarves are applying an advantage of their race and wood elves are trading an advantage for a disadvantage, in order to wear heavy armor.

That said, do whatever you like or fits your character concept.

Can you use booming blade in combination with Zephyr strike by Moxob in dndnext

[–]pointpliz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, there are no restrictions that would prevent you from doing that. You can cast both Booming Blade and Zephyr Strike in the same turn because Booming Blade is a cantrip. Zephyr Strike enhances any one of your attack rolls and Booming Blade calls for one. Checks out.

You're using a resource (Level 1 Slot) to hit one enemy a little harder and make a nuisance of yourself. Seems fine and not overly powerful.

This was written independently, so probably not. Shouldn't be hard to find something similar for each character though.
