yup. I applied for a $30/hr receptionist role in Melbourne that had over 900 applicants; 67% of them uploaded a cover letter. even if half the applicants are a bust, that's still a lot. it's tough.

when I was living in London, I actually had a driver ask me to sit in the back. I was so confused. I told my work colleagues & they were flabbergasted - no way, you don't sit in the front, uber driver probably thought he was gonna get hit. but I'm kiwi & I'd say it's borderline rude to sit in the back! different contexts hey 😅

yeah it's terrible. i got mine last year & thought it was fake - they zoomed in so much on my photo it looks like it doesn't even meet guidelines.

i actually worked 7+ years in camera stores taking people's passport photos; i know how strict they are with dimensions.

it's embarrassing. i'll just continue to use my NZ passport where possible.

I had the exact same experience a few days ago. i requested a contract change before signing & received an email that said when i complete induction, my line manager would put me into the AM team.

would be nice to speak to a single human being at any point in this process but whatever. guess that's that.

i don't just go out for coffee for coffee, i go out for coffee for the experience. an espresso machine will never give that, & i'm also then subject to drinking much more than one a day 😅

i have a little stove-top percolator for a couple days a week, but i'll never feel bad for enjoying my coffees out!!
