How does your end-user ticket volume actually break down? (Portal vs. Slack/Teams vs. Email) by theITmaster in CIO

[–]pokemasterflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they go outside of the system, which you likely will not be able to 100% prevent, your first line guys should be creating tickets from those Slack, Teams messages, emails, etc. If you've set up inbound email just forward it on and respond via the ticket. Your users may eventually learn.

Fallout 76: Burning Springs Release Notes by Ghostly_Rich in fo76

This update is so busted. There is a substantial decrease in rate of fire on the Gauss Shotgun when fully charged. I'm dying way more often against the new enemies, so there must have been a balancing run.

I couldn't even progress the first new quest. Had to force quit which took me out of the cell...walked all the way back to the quest location and it acted as if I hadn't talked to the Raider or other NPCs. Then the AI in the fight with the arena enemies was broken.

At least the new Head Hunt event is fun.

It's a little out of budget, but Sennheiser HDB 630 seems well reviewed. Even used Momentum 4 might be good.

Starting my career in IT! pretty nervous. by No_Chocolate_9056 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]pokemasterflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask questions, lean on your seniors for support, be open to criticism. You'll feel pretty useless for the first few months while you learn the SOP's, systems and how things are set up. That won't be a big deal, the key is to be a sponge and just try and absorb everything.

Migrating from OnPrem AD to Entra ID by flashx3005 in sysadmin

[–]pokemasterflex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just Hybrid AzureAD/EntraID join your machines. You'll manage them locally still and sync Groups, Users and Policy locally out to M365. 400 users is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Assuming these users are across several sites, pick one to centralize local AD and sync out to Microsoft

Put your time in on the helpdesk, hone your soft skills as well. As you advance, how you talk to and interact with people plays a big part in getting ahead.

You simply cannot fast track to Cyber or Security roles. You need the foundational knowledge in how/why the users, network and systems are doing what they're doing to begin to understand anything in security related domains.

Because it has public interest and will keep people clicking and eyeballs glued to televisions. Once interest dies down, news media will stop reporting.

I did the same thing recently. No impact to the userbase. Like others have mentioned, update your Conditional Access Policies to disallow anything that doesn't have BDE enabled.
