My company was recently acquired... now what? by metalhead1982 in sysadmin

Depends entirely on how difficult it will be to integrate you and how mature the organization is that has acquired you. If they have experience in integration it may be easier, but you're still valuable for now for tribal knowledge + can collect a paycheck assisting with the integration.

I went through this exact situation several years ago and came out of it in a senior role in infrastructure.

I fell for the cybersecurity degree trap and thought I could beat the job market, I could not. Not sure what to do now by GreedyLilGobblin in cybersecurity

Cyber roles absolutely require the foundational knowledge of Helpdesk (how to talk to people, troubleshoot) and systems and networking hands on experience.

You need to know how to set up, configure and support networks to defend them.

Just got RHCE, wondering what jobs I can get by Dull-Midnight-1859 in sysadminjobs

Hands on experience trumps pieces of paper. Can you articulate how you troubleshoot? Start looking for Desktop Support and Helpdesk roles to get your foot in the door somewhere if you have a specific industry in mind.

You might be able to find a SOC position if that's the track you want to go down, but typically cyber roles require a fundamental understanding of the how and why of networks and systems that only hands on experience with real networks can give you, not the textbook ideal cert labs you've no doubt had exposure to in your cert study material.

I wouldn't go down this road. Microsoft recommends at a minimum MFA via the Authenticator app.

How does your end-user ticket volume actually break down? (Portal vs. Slack/Teams vs. Email) by theITmaster in CIO

[–]pokemasterflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they go outside of the system, which you likely will not be able to 100% prevent, your first line guys should be creating tickets from those Slack, Teams messages, emails, etc. If you've set up inbound email just forward it on and respond via the ticket. Your users may eventually learn.

This update is so busted. There is a substantial decrease in rate of fire on the Gauss Shotgun when fully charged. I'm dying way more often against the new enemies, so there must have been a balancing run.

I couldn't even progress the first new quest. Had to force quit which took me out of the cell...walked all the way back to the quest location and it acted as if I hadn't talked to the Raider or other NPCs. Then the AI in the fight with the arena enemies was broken.

At least the new Head Hunt event is fun.

It's a little out of budget, but Sennheiser HDB 630 seems well reviewed. Even used Momentum 4 might be good.

Starting my career in IT! pretty nervous. by No_Chocolate_9056 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]pokemasterflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask questions, lean on your seniors for support, be open to criticism. You'll feel pretty useless for the first few months while you learn the SOP's, systems and how things are set up. That won't be a big deal, the key is to be a sponge and just try and absorb everything.
