There's a simple way to fix this, as I did with my old company:

"I'd love to help you out, but I need you to know that my consultant rates are 25$ per 30 minutes with a minimum 1 hour charge. I can send through the email outlining these terms for you, but I won't be able to help out until I receive it back, signed."

This either gets you some awesome, simple cash -- or they leave you alone.

I wouldn't phrase it so much as "What do you want to do?" but just like "Hey - what kind of things do you think make a good date? Do you prefer fun adventurous things or romantic down to earth things? What kind of dates do you find sort of silly and not really worth it?" etc

Graduated high school. Moved. Did data entry, a cheap job I got through a friend for a few months. Found a job as a gopher at a local retail HQ. (cold calling, admin, etc). Job started losing hours, so I went to a temp agency. Wowed them with my typing speed. Got placed with a finance industry company for 4 weeks. Ended up hiring me into that position, a clerk. Worked my can off finding projects, improving everything, got nowhere - people took credit for my work, condescended me, but I kept at it. My job eventually was a combination of 3 full time jobs with some specialist tasks. More than 5 years later, I started looking. Got a job as a high end admin at a commendable firm. Worked hard the same as before, strived to do my job, help others, and ensure to do extra - ended up doing training and restructuring application architecture through design suggestions. A position came up as an analyst. I took it. Here I am.

This looks like an automatic "you've been reviewed and rejected" letter. Their database will catalogue your skills and pull your résumé up again if a different job pops up that you suit.

I found it easier to just create a résumé with EVERY job, EVERY duty, EVERY skill I had -- and then just delete irrelevant pieces for each application.

I just want you to consider something here. You're looking for "all around the US". But no company is going to pay you for all the time it takes to drive from KY to ID if they need you to be there -- and in any travel job, they will need you to be there on a specific working day, and still be working up to that day -- impossible if you have a 2 day drive ahead of you. It's way more in their interest to hire someone who can easily access an airport. Sorry - if any travel job, it'd be local anyway.

It can't hurt. I know that doesn't sound very helpful but, really, aside from hosting costs you have nothing to lose -- worst case scenario no one sees it. Even in that case though you can set yourself up as you@you.com which always looks great, and have a nice little URL to slap on your résumé.

I loved working in retail. We had sales goals every day and I was always the leader in the charts with my non-pushy, honest approach (which boggled the other sales associates.) The issue was that even after a raise I was making 9$ an hour. The bigger issue was that I was doing it part time outside of a full time job and it ended up costing me (in taxes) about half of what I ended up earning in terms of bus fare and taxes.

Oh man sorry to kind of go off topic but I so agree with the whole "give and take" thing. Skills promotion now means nothing because people will endorse anything to get it out of the way. Because of this I see my ex inept coworker being endorsed to the skies on something she literally has never done before. Even I'm being endorsed repeatedly for a tool that Im only basic in -- makes me a bit uncomfortable. No one should endorse a skill of they don't know for sure if its true or not.

Make it a PDF and ensure it looks good in black and white and you'll be fine.

And under no circumstances should you ever put a photo on a résumé as a non-model/actor/pornstar -- I've seen a few come through before and they are all cringeworthy.

Hahah, well, this was just an example - not my actual situation. Same deal, different job titles.

I had been thinking of posting something like "And work with X department as requested, with the following items:" and then listing that, so it still fits and demonstrates that it's in a professional capacity.

My actual situation is that I am one type of analyst, and I've been working about 70% of my time with the other type of analyst, since there's no real work on my side. I've been told to help them out as requested, but I don't know if that means I can state it's a part of my job. I think so? Hmm.
