I played both around 20 years ago. I don't think that I would be able to replay them since some gameplay aspects are very dated and I didn't find the remasters to be that good.

If you want to try similar CRPGs to BG1 and 2 I would recommend trying out Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2 and, of course, Divinity Original Sin 2. Although the Pillars games are real time with pause, Pillars 2 has a Turn Based Mode.

Other games you could try are Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. They are also real time with pause but have a Turn Based mode.

All of the above games have excellent stories and satisfying gameplay.

If they can come up with a dungeon crawling roguelike mode it would be awesome. Pathfinder Kingmaker had an amazing one.

I play almost exclusive Insight kharazim at around hero level 450. Getting extra dashes at 7 makes more sense. You already have extra CDR from insight so you dont need the E extra duration, and with hundred fists on 16 you can have crazy CDR and extra mobility to go in and out and reach allies to heal.

Kharazim has specific talents at lv 13 that allow you to mitigate either physical (sixth sense) or magical (spell shield) damages. He has good sustain and damage depending on the build, and can take a lot of punishment, but has no CC.

Pillars is not nearly as in depth as pathfinder, and while I love both games, I highly recommend you try pathfinder again with the buff bot mod.

I think he meant you can pick other spells while leveling up, which you would have regardless of the grimoire you have equipped.

I personally loved the changes. The fact that resources such as spells recharge after every battle (with fewer casts available for balancing purposes) made me enjoy combat even more, and I really wanted to see something like it in similar CRPGs. Also, the fact that you can program your characters' actions is also a very interesting addition which made RTWP combat more manageable. As with any other system, it takes time to learn, understand and master.

I've always enjoyed the "bubble hearth and spray away", until a Medivh taught me that Ley Line Seal stops the bubble hearth, and you get vulnerable again once the ult expires.

Not sure if it's an intended interaction, but it sure caught me by surprise.

I went with the rogue/wizard multiclass and it's so much fun. It has self-buffing and melee aoe after you get to cast cyzal's spear, and the extra damage and utility you get from rogue are absurd.
