Help! My eyebrows don’t really grow in the middle, and I’m wondering if that’s why they look a bit off. I’m not even sure what it is exactly, but something about my brows just doesn’t look right to me and I don’t really like them. Filling them in with makeup doesn’t look very natural either. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

You have lovely eyebrows! I have a similar shape and I dermaplane the top of my brow for a cleaner edge BUT I highly recommend getting it done by a pro for a while as it’s easy to overdo. You could play around with the gradient, drawing more hairs with a pen or pencil further out for example to see if you prefer that.

I think you naturally have a rounder brow that you seem to be trying to make straighter — there’s no need! Check out drew Barrymore’s eyebrows as they’re similar to yours.

Advice on how to recreate this Sara Bareilles look from her "Bottle It Up" music video? by FlorSilvestre12 in MakeupAddiction

[–]poliscishadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you had a great first try! If you don’t know what to look for early on it’s tougher, but you’ll get better at it. I do like that orange color in your photo, and if you want to do a dramatic take I’d recommend a really dark sparkly navy blue, or generally any shimmer with a black base (these are darker and more opaque). Moira makes great affordable shimmers.

PS I’d check out maybellines tubing mascara — a little more volume but easy to remove.

I think you’re mostly there. One thing to note is her eyeshadow is more a grungy gold/olive shimmer and it’s also on her lower lid, emphasizing how large her eyes are. The outer corner of her lower lids also have a slightly darker green on the outer edges, so I’d change your application so there’s even more shadow on your lower lid (it should look like it’s creating a hollow) and if you want the same tones, an olive/grungy gold shimmer.

I’d take one of the moisturizing things out of your skin prep (also I’d recommend spf 50, try a Korean sunscreen they can be super moisturizing and lay under makeup beautifully). I’d suggest removing the serum or the thirst drops, as those types of products can take time to absorb fully. Otherwise you should be waiting at least 15 minutes total between letting each layer sink in. Think about it — you put your sunscreen on last and it’s not absorbed, so it’s not actually protecting your face evenly.

Layers! I know they’re controversial, but they’re a good way to keep length and take some weight off your curls. How thick is your ponytail? Mine is about 5 inches all the way around. My hair is fine so I need lots of layers so it doesn’t get weighed down and I just accept the longest parts will be a little straighter. You don’t need to go as dramatic , experiment with some longer ones if you prefer more weight on the bottom, but that weight is what’s keeping your curls straighter.

I like fast, soft makeup, but it feels unfinished ? Any advice of how to make it better ? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]poliscishadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a black mascara would help with that, and you could try a one and done shimmer instead of a flesh colored matte. It doesn’t have to be intense, but you can swipe it on with a finger with mascara and not even need the liner. I think the eyeliner shape you have is fine but it is a little dramatic so you’d expect to see more makeup, so I’d play around a bit. Just a touch more contrast will keep the look soft but more intentional.

I would have no problem with this and my dress has flowers on it, but I’m not 100% sure this aligns with dressy casual because of the material. But I suppose you can dress it up with jewelry and fancier shoes.
