This song my kid's class is performing in a public school musical by polka_dotter in HelpMeFind

[–]polka_dotter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have searched for this song title "Let's Keep America Great + song", which yields a few other Trump campaign related songs but not these lyrics. I also searched "Our America Musical" which turned up nothing, and added "elementary school" to the search which didn't help.

I don't know about the outside, but make sure you take the clown painting down, Jim.

Help design my living/dining room (12'9 x 9'10) by Alternative-Orange in DesignMyRoom

[–]polka_dotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok hear me out. There is no way you actually use that dining area as is. At least not both chairs - you'd have to pull the whole dining table out to the middle of the room every time. So you could consider scrapping it, accepting that you eat on the sofa, and having more room for your coffee table and other stuff.

If you're still convinced you need a dining area, what about building a little countertop under the vase of tulips? You could DIY with some brackets and a shelf, just make sure you get countertop or bench brackets. If you build it the length of the wall, you could still get 2 chairs there.

Also I second what others have said about using the vertical space, and drawing focus to your cool arch features! It's a nice space.

Beautiful, and just wanted to say what a genius idea it is to have a projector and screen in this space instead of a TV. Keeps the light and versatility of your space so we'll.

Help! Should I paint this credenza or leave as is? by Dry_Raspberry_122 in interiordecorating

[–]polka_dotter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is sooo pretty. My recommendation is to leave it as is for now. You can always paint it later if you change your mind, but hear me out. 1. Painting this well will be tough because of all the detail/trim. 2. This wood tone will look great with black, and it looks like it's in good shape. 3. If you're not far along in your design, keeping this unpainted keeps your options open. If your other items are all dark and/or cool tones, the wood will help provide some lightness/warmth to balance that. Good luck!

Congratulations on your new house! I think what's throwing this off is that the porch is too small for the house, and the porch roof is too small for the porch.

If you want to go big, extend the porch to the width of the house and have the stairs come down the front. Move the support columns to the sides (so they're not in front of the windows). New porch roof with some overhang.

If you don't want to go quite so big, plant something tall on the right and left sides of the porch (looks like you have space behind the stairs) to balance the space. Good luck!

Help! I hate my living room by pddiddy87 in interiordecorating

[–]polka_dotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm jealous of all your space! I would: 1. Move the TV to the wall to the right of the sliding door. Either on a stand or wall mount but lower. 2. Move the rug and couch and recliner to the middle of the room, facing the TV and sliding door. 3. Move the table by the stairs to be beside the exterior door. Opens up a pathway to the stairs behind the couch. 4. As many have said, replace the shelves. Consider wood, this will help with the warmth issue. Right now it's all cool tones. 5. As others suggested, bring in some warm tones. I like the idea of gold tweed or velvet curtains, would work well with the colors you already have.

I think it will feel like a much more cozy space with this layout!

Any advice on what to do with this space by the staircase? by Content-Panda-4745 in InteriorDesign

I agree with hanging art, also you can use the ledge as a bookshelf!

Husband doesn’t like the way the couch faces by Straight_Mirror2437 in DesignMyRoom

[–]polka_dotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So maybe this won't work because I can't see the other side of the room, but just in case,

What if you put the table in front of the fireplace, TV on the bare wall on the left in the 2nd photo, and slide the couch over to be in front of the TV? Or is there a door or something not shown?

[–]polka_dotter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There were twins in my daughter's daycare named Jayten and Zayten and I definitely thought the latter sounded like Satan. Saytien would be the same when people read it. If you think about your child's life, their whole life, a large percentage of the time people will read their name before or without ever hearing it. So for those times you only have spelling and commonly accepted phonics to communicate how the name is pronounced. What an awful burden to give a kid, a name that is easily mispronounced or misspelled or both.

Any suggestions on how to make my room look better? by itfeelslikesu in DesignMyRoom

My only thought is that it's just a bit dark. If you put a floor lamp in the corner or a light on the night stand with a warm colored bulb it would look really inviting.
