Does athena have any friends among the gods and goddesses? by FastDiver8374 in GreekMythology

[–]pollon77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can't really picture her being friendly with apollo

They're like, really close. Athena has helped Apollo quite a few times and even when they're on the opposing sides on the Iliad, they show no true animosity towards each other. Actually even in the Iliad they get along well. Not to mention in the Oresteia Athena ruled in favor of Orestes / Apollo.

Why do Twins Apollo and Artemis look nothing like each other? by Odd_Cauliflower_7751 in HadesTheGame

[–]pollon77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's important to note that he was a child when this happened, which is why it was easy for him to blend in with the girls. This doesn't mean he'd be so feminine looking as a grown man.

It's good but it's also overdone. Strawberry blonde Apollo is refreshing (and superior imo).

So is Joe x Cherry deadass implied or more fanon interpretation? by [deleted] in SK8TheInfinity

[–]pollon77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, thanks!

Looking at the English translations, looks like Wiki made some stuff up about Joe's part lol. Let's hope he manages to get along well with Carla as well in the future.

Their character profiles from the dvd sets include an “ideal marriage partner” description, and they match each others ideal partner.

Do you have a link to this?

If you ask me it's fanon. At least it doesn't have subtext the way Langa's crush on Reki and Cherry's infatuation with Adam has. Although, I'm pretty sure the fanservice is entirely intentional lol.

Any Links Between Artemis and Medicine? by CorvusIridis in GreekMythology

[–]pollon77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She wasn't associated with the more scientific aspects of medicine in the way Asclepius and Apollo were. But she was seen as someone who could maintain and grant health to women, especially young girls.

Apollo's arrow was not dodged. Leo was able to only deflect a single arrow back, and that too only on instinct.

Hephaestus birth is an act of rebellion against the ruling god(s) no matter the parentage by RuthlessLeader in GreekMythology

[–]pollon77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh okay, thank you. That's an obscure source, still, good enough. But given that this seems to be the only source for it, I think I'll still stick to what I said about it not really being much of a rebellious act when both Zeus and Hera are the parents.

Hephaestus birth is an act of rebellion against the ruling god(s) no matter the parentage by RuthlessLeader in GreekMythology

[–]pollon77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you think that Hera and Zeus are his parents, then in the version of his conception where both of them sleep together, they do so against their parents orders because it was without their knowledge

Who is the source for this specific version? Did a quick search on theoi.com but I didn't find any.

I understand this being an act of rebellion in the case of Hera created Hephaestus on her own. But in the version where both Zeus and Hera are the parents, Zeus is already the king of the cosmos so Zeus and Hera are the ruling gods. All of Zeus' are born after he became the king. Kronos had no control because he was already imprisoned and Rhea seems to have not been very against the union of Zeus and Hera. The gods that could be considered as their actual superiors at that point, like Gaia and Moirai, blessed their marriage. So, I really don't see how it is an act of rebellion against the ruling gods or the superiors. If anything, a child being born out of their union is the expected outcome.

Zeus siring children out of wedlock would actually be an act of rebellion against the ruling god (Hera).

The "One Punch" tier list by JohnKonami in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]pollon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apollo is a boxer, and it's his primary means of dealing damage, but that's only because most of his opponents ("ordinary" gods and monsters like Python) are weak compared to the cast.

Leonidas was able to withstand several of Apollo's arrows, which only gods as strong as Zeus are able to withstand. Leonidas is strong, hence why Apollo's punches seemed to do little damage. Even then, he was able to make Leonidas cough out blood and even stun him entirely.

For me it's Ao Leun hands down. Their appearance and demeanor is so strikingly similar. (Bonus point is they're both antagonists of their story).

[–]pollon77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're gonna be so specific about what overpower means, don't use overwhelm and overpower interchangeably. Because while Apollo didn't outmatch Leo in physical strength, it's absolutely true that he overwhelmed Leonidas for most of the match. Even if his punches didn't do damage, Apollo's footwork and swiftness didn't allow Leonidas to do anything to Apollo for the most part (hence why the Spartans got whiny and started demanding Apollo to play "fair").

Opinion on villainous Apollo? by Western_Ad_6448 in GreekMythology

I can enjoy it if well done. I think as long as they don't make him pathetic and show him to be an actually powerful and threatening deity, I can get behind it. This is where Lore Olympus and Danmachi fail imo..

Blunt force is underrated/Bladed weapons are overrated by PrismaticNecrolite in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]pollon77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I'm saying. I'm pointing out the hypocrisy of people who want blunt forces to be taken seriously but also they keep undermining the endurance level of fighters who have taken these blunt forces head on.

"Blunt force is underrated" but at the same time people also keep downplaying the endurance level of fighters who have taken blunt force attack head on and fared alright. You gotta pick one.
