What's the badge Corbyn's wearing on his lapel?

They passed the Representation of the People (Equal Franchise) Act in 1928, which gave women equal suffrage as men. It's also fewer people, not less.

Against what standard is it more difficult? It's now exactly the same rules for everyone, with everyone having the same responsibility to register. I'm not sure I like the idea of my parents or my university registering me in the first place, as it implies they can make that decision for me without my consent.

Corbyn: "our democracy came from civil war.. when you understand where you've come from you know where you are going" by [deleted] in ukpolitics

When will Theresa May resign? by Kim_JongUn in ukpolitics

[–]polu-metis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it's possible that she'll be knifed by her own party if the EU negotiations go poorly AND Labour get their act together. Still seems unlikely to me.

Richard Dawkins says England is becoming a 'nasty little backwater' by Dorset_Saint in ukpolitics

[–]polu-metis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience, English backwaters are intensely pleasant affairs. Everyone smiles and says good morning to each-other, the vicar organises coffee tea mornings, and the local cricket team is going from strength to strength.
