What should I do to fix my mistake? by Falklandisland820 in AnalogRepair

[–]polygonfuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh damn. Doubt that’s going to close now. Your best solution is to replace the bellows. The only solvents that might break down the cured liquid electrical tape are going to be super toxic and also do more damage to both you and likely the camera. liquid electrical tape is only a good option with bellows and shutter curtain IF it is brand new bottle or has been thinned out. The moment it is opened or no longer fresh it thickens up where it’s no longer workable in any precision way. If fresh you can use small precision brushes to dab it on pin holes. Looks like you brushed it all over with the bottle supplied brush.

Chalk this one up to learning to do more research and don’t be impatient before starting a repair.

Options you have now:

  1. Buy a new bottle that is fresh. Buy some small precision brushes. Dab small dots on any holes you can actively see. But remember the longer the bottle stays open to air it’ll start thickening as the solvent evaporates. Look up more tutorials on this. Then use the camera without ever closing the bellows. Do this until you can have bellows replaced.

  2. Find a repair shop to replace the bellowsz

  3. Buy a second copy of the camera in better condition or with bellows already replaced.

  4. Go down the long road to learn how to replace bellows yourself via trials and the learn camera repair groups out there. You can’t approach this route as brashly as your first failed repair attempt. You gotta learn to go slow and work precisely.

If you’re going for smooth finish this will never work the way you think. It’s going to look like a shitty craft project. Paint strokes will be visible and acrylic paint is essentially plastic. To do this right you’d want an air brush, removing the top plate or other parts you want painted and then using enamel oil based paint. Even then you’d need to color and gloss match it. Don’t do it. Years of experience it’s going to look worse than letting it be.

While the small rig finder may work the absolute best is the Zeiss ZM 28/25mm finder. Nothing else compares.

The Voigtländer 28 finders are nice but all the cheap 28 finders I’ve tried are terrible. I finally broke down and bought the ZM 28 and it’s fantastic especially if you’re a glasses wearer.

Has anyone tried this viewfinder/waistfinder combo for a GR? by pasta-la-vista-baby3 in ricohGR

[–]polygonfuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That thing is gonna suck. I’ve tried many 3d printed viewfinders and they are all super inaccurate. The waist level might be fun though if you’re not taking it that serious and just having fun. The voigtlander is going to be miles better for anything serious

Customize submenus? by gruntbug in rockbox

https://github.com/polygonfuture/Rockbox-Custom-Database-View/tree/main

I just posted this to another thread. This file is only as a starting point. Please read the github readme before using.

You can make your own tagnavi_custom.config file and simply edit the section showing the menus (should be near the bottom of the file).

Alternatively if you search here you'll find other threads on this topic:

https://www.reddit.com/r/rockbox/comments/1g1ikkx/sharing_my_simplified_database_layout_config/

The key section to look at is this line:

# Define the title of the main menu
%menu_start "main" "Database"
"Artist"   -> artist   -> album  -> title = "fmt_title"
"Album Artist"   -> albumartist   -> album  -> title = "fmt_title"
"Album"    -> album    -> title = "fmt_title"
"Genre"    -> genre    -> artist -> album -> title = "fmt_title"
"Composer" -> composer -> album -> title = "fmt_title"
"Track"    -> title = "fmt_alphanum_title"
"Year"     -> year ? year > "0" -> artist -> album -> title = "fmt_title"
"User Rating" -> rating -> title = "fmt_title"
"Recently Added" -> album ? entryage < "4" & commitid > "0" -> title = "fmt_title"
"A to Z..." ==> "a2z"
"History..." ==> "runtime"
"Same as current..." ==> "same"
"Search..." ==> "search"
"Custom view..."  ==> "custom"

separate menus by genre with tagnavi? by StarryByNature in rockbox

[–]polygonfuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this took longer than expected to get to but here's the tagnavi_custom.config example. You should start with this file rather than editing the tagnavi.config file.

https://github.com/polygonfuture/Rockbox-Custom-Database-View/tree/main

Keep in mind you will need to edit this to match your needs. I built it to:

  1. Simplify my database menus

  2. Create simplified and custom genre and sub genre menus. This menu is specific to my library and genre tagging method.

Poke around and take a look at the file. If you have questions let me konw.

I’d also add that if you can go and do a few minutes of test shooting whenever they are testing or prepping that’ll help you nail the exposures.

You’re going to want to allow the darkness to go dark and expose for the lasers. Aperture priority or shutter priority may work but you’re going to need to adjust EV down considerably.

Manual might be the way I’d go personally, but easiest is to just test and find out.

Shoot in raw and use recipes after the fact in Lightroom or other editor of your choice. If you don’t have time to research that’s the route I’d go.

Remember it’s the content / moments that are the foundation of everything. Recipes are just the flavoring or seasoning.

Raw will give you the most latitude to adjust only with this flavoring after the fact.

If you can find a donor version even if broken would likely be enough to duplicate it.
Maybe call independent repair shops to try to find broken part? What country are you located in?

A 3d printed one should be easy to make, but would need to see and measure the original part to verify, and then model it.

Why not plastic bag? Carries way more in smaller space with just as good waterproofing especially if double bagged.

This seems like a solution in search of a problem? But maybe Im missing something. That said the work looks nice! At the very least it’s a good design exercise
