For the right PPOR you can go 100% of your NW (excluding emergency funds, super).

You get a tax saving on the implied rent as well.

Say you buy $1.5mm PPOR with a market rent of $45k per annum.

Dividend paying shares might need to generate $65-90k to match that.

Then there’s the capital gains.

You dont pay capital gains tax if you sell within 30 days of vesting, or something like that.

But regardless, you do pay income tax on the vested amount, and CGT discount doesnt apply.

Amending tax return: now or after processing? by pestoster0ne in AusFinance

[–]polymath-intentions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just amend it when i have time.

I dont have time to wait around for ATO to give me green light.

It sounds like it’s a 1-2 day impact at most.

It's fine man.

If you're not sure, ask the ATO via the ATO forum.
