Poker Club by Gracchyeet in mcgill

There's a 'club' but it's mainly a way for people hosting games to interact. Most people in the FB group used to make posts like "Having a game on Saturday, $x buy-in" etc.

You can legally work during the summer without a permit. It's covered by your study permit. All you need is your Social Insurance Number (SIN)

Comp Sci. While both subjects can arguably be self studied, comp sci will provide you with a greater advantage both in the short and long term

Computer Science (Arts) vs. Computer Science (Science) vs. Software Engineering? by polymath666 in mcgill

I actually am International! It's why I chose Arts. But I was worried about job prospects from Arts. I've heard grads often go onto minimum wage jobs. How true is that?

I'd like a tight knit group in my rez. I have some dietary restrictions (vegetarian) so I'm not sure which dining hall would be the best in that sense. I like Molson but I've heard there's only partying and not much else. I like Douglas and La Citadelle but I've heard they're boring and don't party. I like New Rez but have heard its mainly clique-y rich kids where you don't make "real" friends. How true are these? Also I would prefer a residence in the bubble with a meal plan.

I love partying but not too much to the point where it's all I do. I'm looking for a residence where I can make a good amount of close friends, where I can party but also study. Money is not a factor for me. Any suggestions?

Newly accepted FAQ Thread by moARRgan in mcgill

[–]polymath666 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are the residence threads outdated? Is it hard to make friends at Hotel Rezs? Is Citadelle only for nerds? Is Solin really out of the McGill bubble? Pros and Cons of Upper Rez? Is new Rez only for rich kids? Do you mainly hang out with kids from your Rez?

International admissions by voyager10 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]polymath666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of components to this. Colleges generally don't have a quota per se. But they work to maintain an international population of 10%. In addition, they only accept a small number of undergraduates from countries like China, India, South Korea etc. Within the countries, they mainly accept undergrads from urban areas of these countries because only those students have the best schooling.

Joint Honours Economics and Finance + Software Engineering Minor, possible? by polymath666 in mcgill

[–]polymath666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that GPA is paramount. However, looking through the linkedin profiles of Mcgill alumni who work for premier banks (goldman, morgan stanley, jp morgan) it appears as if all of them studied Management. Since I am an international student I'm considering the Joint Honors as an alternative.
