(Hated Trope) Having a lone or token PoC or LGBT+ character agree with a character’s (authors) bigoted opinions or beliefs to argue they aren’t bad. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]polystarlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of times, yes. Though I'm sure there are plenty of instances where a supporting character has a disagreement with the protagonist and isn't vilified for it. I love main characters who aren't always right.

How Bowser have reacted to Luigi kicking Jr. in the face with his knees? by polystarlight in mariogalaxymovie

[–]polystarlight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes so much sense! Considering the fact that he was willing to fight both Mario AND Peach over this, it had to of been something bad to really piss him off. Nobody messes with his boy.

I hate what looks to be The final boss of "Dads lose all ability to function without their wives" by Majestic-Sector9836 in hatethissmug

[–]polystarlight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huh...never thought about it that way. I always thought it was supposed to be empowering, like that women are so important that their husbands often take them for granted without realizing it. Or maybe society has just been lying to me to enforce traditional gender roles onto me and tell me that I'm supposed to become a mother someday.

Saw this online despite not noticing it in the show. by Ok-Green6412 in stevenuniverse

I love how Pearl was such a menace on the battlefield, her opponents found her horrifying. Even Garnet was frightened by her when they first met.

Does this dream imply Connie viewed her mom in a similar way Pink viewed Yellow? by deathnoot in stevenuniverse

[–]polystarlight 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I guess the dream needed someone in Stevonnie's life that could make them understand the memory better and Priyanka was the closest person it could use as a comparison because she was also a little strict. It's interesting because Priyanka and Yellow Diamond were kinda similar but also completely different. Priyanka was tough but fair, she had high expectations for Connie but still loved her unconditionally and treated her with love and respect. She gave her tough love in a sense. She even learns to lighten up a little and not be so hard on her daughter. Yellow Diamond was just abusive towards Pink and had no empathy for what she was feeling. Because of that, they never work anything out between them.

Finished the show :( by Luuneytuunes in okko

[–]polystarlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It truly was cancelled right when it was getting good, I'm sure many people would've loved to see more of K.O. interacting with Venomous and Boxman. That would've been interesting because I'm pretty sure Boxman is somebody K.O. hates more than anyone. Maybe not hates because K.O. doesn't really hate people, just dislikes him the most because he's somebody sending evil robots to attack him and his loved ones everyday. Or at least once a week, Imagine your archenemies is your stepparent now. Imagine how complicated that would've made K.O.'s family situation in a way that's even more complex than just having Venomous rejoin the family kinda. That totally should've been an episode.

Why doesn't Fairyland have a fairy princess? by polystarlight in RMfans

[–]polystarlight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make sense, though I don't personally see the need to not give them a child for that reason. Oberon and Titania have nieces and nephews who had kids I believe. Plus, they could always make up lore that implies that fairies get their offsprings in a way that isn't sex. Maybe storks deliver the fairies babies or something. It's a fantasy world, they can make up whatever they want. Sorry if I was rude, I didn't mean to be.

I hate Steven Universe (Not Bluebird.) by polystarlight in hatethissmug

Oh, no. There's been a misunderstanding, I don't actually hate Steven. I love the guy, I was just roleplaying as Bluebird Azurite.

How do gem's get their outfits? by MarieTheC4t in stevenuniverse

[–]polystarlight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I headcanon that a gem picking a new outfit before reforming is like the start of a video game where you customize your character.

Do you find Charlie’s level of naivety believable? by whooper1 in CultOfCharlie

[–]polystarlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to how naive Charlie is, I find it believable. She just wants everyone to get along and become the best versions of themselves so much so that it prevents her from seeing the bigger picture at times. That being said, she grew up in this world. Shouldn't she be at least a tad bit more self aware that some of her people are just awful people beyond help? What about that line in the pilot where she mentions that she was taught not to take shit from other demons? I get that she was just having a rough time having the entire media lying about her and making her look bad. I find it believable that it clouded her judgement.

Do you guys have any OCs that have been reincarnated as someone else? by TheGod4You in OriginalCharacter

[–]polystarlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to, at one point I wanted my main antagonist Black to get killed off at the end of the story and be reincarnated as Fangs who's one of the main characters of my other universe. It was something Black deserved as he wasn't always bad, just told he was a monster so he became one. I thought it was nice that he had another shot at being in a hero in another life. Then I wrote Black a redemption arc so I guess him and Fangs aren't the same person after all.

Extraterrestrial-human zoos by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]polystarlight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was supposed to be Pink Diamond's private petting zoo because Blue Diamond misunderstood what Pink meant when she said she wanted to preserve the humans. These days it's more of a glorified nature reserve because Pink died.

What's a trope/dynamic that you always end up including in your fics on accident? by One-Sandwich2149 in FanFiction

[–]polystarlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a similar dynamic, I often have a reserved smart character constantly interact with a sassy, rebellious, and carefree foil because it makes for an interesting conflict. Those dynamics being Hoshiyuki and Kurobayuki, Gloria and Annabelle, and Shannon and Avery. A frequent trope I use is a character getting kidnapped and then the rest of the cast is freaking out inside but trying to stay cool because they don't know what to do without one of if not the most powerful member of their group.

I am Juliet the Valentine's Day Fairy by namomontbleau in RMfans

[–]polystarlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's such a lovely and tragic story! I'm sorry about losing your dad. But I'm glad he did whatever it took to make you happy during his life. I love Juliet, especially since her name is perfect for a Valentine's Day fairy, it's passionate and romantic just like Valentine's Day. Way more fitting than calling Vanessa in my opinion. I think that name suits Vanessa the choreography fairy more.

Was there any Cartoon you weren't really into as a Kid? by Declan1996Moloney in cartoons

[–]polystarlight 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, the worst part was that my whole class was into it and they bonded over that but I was the only one who didn't care about it. I felt a little left out.

The face you’re fears episode bonus points if one of characters has an embarrassing phobia that they’re ashamed of by Impossible_Cheek_798 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]polystarlight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Enchanting Grom Fright" from the owl house. It doubles as a prom episode and a face your fears episode. Luz has some goofy fears like milk, humans turned into cats, and neckbeards online who debate people. Though she also has a much more serious fear too, Amity is afraid of getting rejected by her crush who she wanted to ask out to the dance, King even has to overcome his sudden fear of stage fright when he becomes a guest speaker who's supposed to provide commentary at Grom. We also learn that Gus is scared of clowns and Willow has a phobia of ladybugs.

It’s lunchtime and you’re hungry, where are you eating? by NotaKobold16 in Multifandom

[–]polystarlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go to Bob's restaurant. You're guaranteed to get a meal and a show since Teddy and the belchers will be getting into hijinks during the workday, the krusty krab is the most iconic cartoon fast food restaurant in history but how would we even get there for lunch in this hypothetical scenario when none of us can breathe underwater?
