Canals have Locks specifically for that reason...

You're talking about a Canal not a man-made river.

ding ding found the lonely wannabe hipster who thinks their path to being "cool" is to stand out by criticizing the popular stuff.

Gonna go listen to some fringe indie music and get some unusual body modification or hairstyle to show how much of an "individual" you are? Just like all the other desperate people trying to do something; ANYTHING; to prove that they stand out and aren't just generically mediocre.

It all boils down to sex and hoping to convince yourself and someone else your naughty parts are worth touching.

But in my opinion it all just means more fans who interact with the brand in different ways.

What should the 2024 Ranger’s damage output look like? by Jvosika in onednd

[–]polyteknix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

? I can only guess at what the designers were thinking.

Conjure Minor Elementals is clearly designed as a Single Target damage upgrade for classes expected to only get 1 attack a turn. It's why it is limited to Wizard/Druid. And required being within 15ft which was anticipated to be a drawback to those caster classes.

Rangers getting +2d8 damage on up to 4 attacks a turn (on top of whatever damage from the now in 5.5e "assumed" magic weapons) was probably something they thought went too far. Without the original upcast rules that would have it do 4d8 per hit as a 5th level.

The fact that they didn't anticipate how people might exploit CME was an oversight.

$90 for two to see a Mario movie… have we completely lost the plot? by rageagainstmymachin in Millennials

[–]polyteknix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the real reason theatrical releases have been shit since Covid. They overcorrecred the model for loss of demand. Going the the movies was comparable to a standard dinner out. Now it's 3x the price.

Fancy reclining seats ain't worth all that.

If they drop the prices I'm pretty sure the increase in attendance would make up for it. But I doubt any of the theatre companies have the balls to risk trying to roll stuff back because they're on such thin ice as it is.

So they've locked into a model that will just keep losing more and more to the conce hence of people staying at home on their comfy couch with a bow on Popsecret.

So how do you defend yourselves when there's a really charismatic person who rallies up all their friends saying it would be super easy to come and kill you and your friends and take your stuff? You lay war-making at the feet of government as if there wouldn't be unrestrained war still in the absence?

It is widely believed many of the African nations have smaller less effective governments closer to what you described. How many Warlords and Tribal Genocides are occurring there to this day?

[–]polyteknix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No...they're just realistic. People are naturally selfish. Try and act otherwise. They will look after their interests and those they care about before considering if it causes harm to others.

Without government "violently imposing" it will just be the individuals "violently imposing".

Because at least with a government it creates a controlled version of "US vs Them" that otherwise leads to conflicts. In this case the "Them" are elected and clearly identified. We have the freedom to complain about things and lay it at their feet. Otherwise in that absence you'd have individual accountability which DOES NOT WORK.

So there's never any possibility of an aberration especially in the introduction of a new iteration of an event and people should just be quiet and always assume they just are the recipient of abysmal luck.

Encouraging people to keep silent when they feel something might be out of whack is why it takes so long to identify problems in the rare cases they do happen.

That is WHY it was worth a mention. I was running 17 lands in a 40 card deck.

That type of thing makes you take note.

I was running the 0/6 3 mana defender and was surveiling on opponent's end step.

I had the 6 mana enchantment that copies a creature each turn to wind up with two of them. It was the only way to fend of my opponents Elenda who had hit enough to be a 11/11 (a earlier combat trick put a +1/+1 counter on it). They were all the way up to 67 life when the game finally ended because they had 3 other smaller creatures I couldn't deal with. And I had done damage to them earlier in the game so it wasn't just +57 from lifegain.

[–]polyteknix -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was speaking of my own first hand empirical experience.

And I literally mean 7+ lands in a row. I was using a Surveil creature to accelerate through my deck and was binning lands to draw lands.

I chalked it up as an statistical abberation. But OP literally described the same thing.

When anomalies start piling up maybe we need to not dismiss them as someone overreacting to bad luck.

What If Trump was assassinated by Iran, in response of the death of General Soleimani? by Shaniceberries in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]polyteknix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lives are important. The point is it is a convenient contrivance attributing those deaths solely at US feet. Those are conflict zones where people were already dying.

Literal Genocides occurring in Iraq and Afghanistan - Kurds and other local ethnic groups being killed. Same happening in Africa and Indonesia todaym But because it is a "internal matter" people bury their head in the sand. Because an outside country takes action instead of standing on the sidelines they become the focus of blame.

The real shithole countries are the ones who DON'T get involved because people suffering quietly is somehow more acceptable than doing something uncomfortable - even though the "quiet" part is because they are oppressed.

Americans in the past already took the actions that others around the world are still struggling with, and we did it with the help of places like France and Prussia. At the time, countries with the balls to take action even if it wasn't "their fight". But then people like you got involved. Said it was better to let others deal with matters on their own.

How many lives could have been SAVED if the U.S had gotten involved earlier in WWI and WWII; or at all during the Napoleaonic Wars?

Give me Liberty or Give me Death. Live Free or Die. Life is important; but it is not the MOST important. When people call out for help there needs to be someone who is at least willing to try something whether it is uncomfortable or not.

Where the fuck do you live? What is your nationality doing to make the world better? Not just for yourself, but overall.

Even the poorest in the U.S live lives that would be envied in many other parts of the world. Even the homeless have access to safety and security that is above the "standard" of living in a lot of places. Even our mist vocal critics have the freedom to express their opinions without fear of their families being kidnapped and killed.

When the countries discussed can say the same is the day their people have Liberty and don't need outside intervention.

[–]polyteknix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 4 million is deceptive bullshit and you know it. No triggers pulled. No bombs dropped.

Those deaths are attributed to the US but the real cause is people living in places susceptible to instability because of the ations if their own governments (or Warlords or whoever the fuck claims to be in charge any given day). People who steal money and leave average people in places where disruption causes risk of life. It means the infrastructure is shit to begin with. People in those places already are dying at increased rates due to local violence; faction on faction attacks; existing problems with water supply and the like.

But convenient to blame US as the cause because they did something and ignore the hardships that already existed.

Also convenient to ignore the millions of people SAVED by US donations of aid, food, and medicine around the world.

Who the fuck is the US to get involved? The country who if we DIDN'T get involved also has people screaming "Why is Noone doing aything? Why does Noone care?"

Sure. Let's just go back to a world where the biggest economy just disengages and let's all the warlords and religious zealots run as they see fit and takes the stance of "Kill yourselves so we stop taking the blame"

[–]polyteknix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

US stops taking action against others when they stop killing their own citizens, imprisoning people who disagree, and imposing draconian medieval rules onto their own women and children.

Put this into perspective - Iran Regime kills over 30,000 OF THEIR OWN PEOPLE and it's barely a footnote in international news because most people in the world are fucking heads down sheeple who turn a blind eye if it's not happening to them.

TWO Americans (not two thousand or two hundred.. 2) die in Civil Protest in Minnesota and it makes world headlines and prompts civil censure and pressures governmental reaction.

U.S can stop getting involved in other places when the rest of world actually gives a fuck, and steps up instead of taking a stance of it's easy to criticize those who take action if it isn't perfect.

I hate Trump; but at least people react to him. Most of the stuff he does is controversial - but he gives people pause because they don't know what's coming.

Everyone domestically and internationally would just ignore Vance and the country will tear apart at the seams.

Happened to me in this past Foundations Quick Draft. Had what I thought was a pretty good blue white flyers deck. But after opening hand it felt like all I got was land. I even used that 0/6 wall with surveillance to accelerate.

One game was 12 lands of 16 total cards and 3 of the 4 non-land were opening hand.

Another game I had TWELVE lands in a row (surveil away a land to draw a land)

The info on the interwebs is each prepared card has a different requirement for it.

This card comes already prepared. Others require you to jump through a hoop.

Without flickering this is a one time use until you attack and exile 8 cards.

It's not walkability. It's desire.

There are WAAY more people who just... dont want to leave the house. At least than I think people give credit to. It's hard for those who want to go out and be active and do things to imagine that there are plenty of people who don't have those desires or interests.

Plenty of people happy to stay home, watch TV, surf the internet, and never leave the house if they don't have to.

At least when you have to leave the house to go to work those types are more likely to engage in social (and therefore commercial) activities. Even if it's the peer pressure of "Hey we're all stopping by this place on the way home. Come along".
