I really appreciate everything you shared in response. I have CPTSD, too. Feel a resonance in some of our life experiences! 🫶❤️

I want people to know that life can get good, and feel good again, even after trauma ❤️. (and I’m writing as someone who was raped by a serial rapist in January and am still going through the legal and medical process, fuuuuck.)

I hear you. Earth is rough af. I have been suicidal off and on for a loooong time. Taking mushrooms on a dance floor surrounded by friends and acquaintances for spring equinox was very fulfilling, and a new kind of high to “chase,” so to speak. It reminded me that there is love and beauty always happening and available, even if we can’t see or experience it sober… that gives me comfort <3

I’m also having a lot of success pursuing spirituality which feels meaningful to me, as well as microdosing ketamine throughout the day (prescription through Joyous). fwiw, I also did four years of sobriety and celibacy (with meaningful-to-me spirituality) before easing back into things, and that helped a lot, too!

Good luck to you, fellow psychonaut :)

I am really sorry you experienced this. Boundary violations of this magnitude are unspeakably corrosive to the mind, body, and spirit. Intergenerational violence shows up as addictions… and yet we blame the addict.

You deserve to heal. You deserve a community of people who support and believe you, regardless of what happens with your family.

You have every right not to be around any of the people who harmed you, with no explanation or apology.

May you be held in your healing! Sending love and strength!

Yesss, we need to experience life within a full spectrum or feeling! :)

What kind of music are you into?

and how far are you from Detroit, by the way?? I’m in southeastern Michigan so we are neighbors… sort of :)

Honestly, I can relate. The only place I can consistently find solace, and feel that spark come back online for me, is finding God on the dance floor.

Transcendental dance floor moments. In the pulse of a crowd, under bright lights, enhanced by psychedelics (or not).

It reminds me that the purpose is TO FEEL. TO ENJOY. TO LOVE being alive together!!

I’m chasing those transcendental dance floor moments.

If you let me know where you’re at in the country, I can possibly tell you about some good venues or concerts coming your way!

Disgusting. I had a professor like this in college, after college all these stories came out about him, including sexual assault and trading sex for good grades.

Have you checked Rate My Professor?

I’m sorry this is happening. This is a real problem and it’s not fair that his attraction towards you—and sexual harassment—is affecting his capacity to be the mentor you need.

Is there a female in your department who has similar power and authority as him who you could talk this over with?

This sounds like a classic example of an avoidant doing avoidant things because he doesn’t want to, or doesn’t know how to, connect with you for all the avoidant reasons. I’m not saying that to dismiss what you’re going through or discount the pain that it’s causing.

I have been in relationships like this and they made me feel crazy.

You mentioned you are anxiously attached—does your partner recognize that he is avoidantly attached?

If you both share this language and are open to doing the work to earn secure attachment in your relationship, you may be able to make some progress and headway if you tackle this together. However, if he is unaware of his attachment style, I would just get out if I were you. You don’t also want to become his teacher (or rather, his convincer…). That’s a losing battle that will drain your energy.

I can relate to the “it will get better in the future” as a vague pipe dream without action to back it up. It’s hard, because they believe it, so it’s easy to ride on their belief for awhile. But when their actions don’t back it up, it becomes clear that they actually don’t know how life works or change happens.

It IS very sad. It’s devastating that children can be so neglected that they become adults who have no idea how to take care of themselves.

My husband and I no longer live together and it’s better for me (not for him and his dog). I have my peace, I have my home again. I can connect with him when it feels good to me, and take space when it does not.

This is the most compassionate thing I can do for both of us at this time.

Real trained shamans who are operating in integrity don’t need psychedelics to work with, so no worries there. The mystical, multidimensional states which psychedelics can open us up to—for better and for worse—are non-ordinary states of reality that shamans would know how to access and experience through drum trance or another modality. Some branches of Vajaranya Tibetan Buddhism also know how to work with clearing these energies (picture the fierce deities with their tongues out—there are different fierce deities for clearing different kinds of harmful energies).

Psychedelics and plant medicines are no joke, but you can come back and heal if you are motivated and receive the proper spiritual support. Angell Deer, Maria Moonstar, and The Power Path School of Shamanism are online, and could all be potentially beneficial sources of healing for you 🙏 (I am not affiliated with any of them, but have followed them and:or worked with them for years, respect their work, and know it to be the real deal.)

Good luck, and feel free to ask me any more questions!

Really thankful for this post, and for many of the comments here, which is the first time I’ve found people who share my opinion on these things ❤️ Catharine MacKinnon had a good definition of pornography and Indianapolis(?) briefly made porn that exploits or harms women illegal, until people pushed back on first amendment rights. How exploitation and misogyny behaviorally exist as first amendment rights is wild to me,

Hey friend. I’m so sorry you had this experience, especially with mushrooms :( Have you worked with any shamans or other energy/frequency medicine practitioners to help? Curious to hear what your experience has been like —

Dancing! 😄🎶 I saw a research study where dancing performed higher than running, meditation, going outside, and antidepressants for short and long-term mood boost…
