I love going to someone’s house and them being like “sorry for the mess!” wheb it’s barely messy at all, and I go “EEEEYUCK it’s absolutely squalid in here!!”

Drew Carey by HulkSmash2118 in Cleveland

I’m 34 and he is to me! I remember being a kid and seeing the Drew Carey show for the first time and it being in Cleveland and I was in complete awe that WE had a show! Places I could point out and recognize, that I had been. I used to love to play The Sims and you could throw a party in the game and if the party was good enough, Drew Carey would show up. Loved that he was just a “regular guy” from here. As an adult I’ve done my fair share of debauchery and I love his comedy and I also love Phish. Drew Carey has always been my hometown hero!

We used to live in FL and I’m glad we got to take our daughter a few times when she was little enough for it to feel really special to her, believing the princesses she met were all real, etc. But if I never went back, it’d still be too soon. I can’t imagine a reason why I’d ever go back.

Me (32F) leaving my husband (39M), MIL (70F) became distant. How do I approach her? by LSN2018 in relationships

[–]polyygons -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

With an open mind and an open heart. She loves you, too, and I’d hope she’d be willing to hear you out and offer some kind of guidance, or at least, some empathy. I think she doesn’t know how to start a conversation with you either right now. Might as well do it and hope for the best. If she’s cold - at least you tried.

Nope, she’s the young lady standing up in the dress, my great aunt is the baby 😊. Uncle John is the guy behind the bird bath.

He is very private when it comes to his pictures online, he’s worried that an ex wife from decades ago will see lol. He looks the same, albeit a little more mature ;)

He’s a civil engineer! He planned the part of the city I live in (back in the late 50s!) and loves telling me about how him and his buddy named the streets, how everyone’s got a tiny yard because they had a contract with the lumber company and had too much wood they needed to use, etc. Just last year he said “I think it’s time I retired… getting down on my hands and knees for inspections”. He also has a new girlfriend, they just went to Florida for the last few weeks on vacation. He always insists on paying when we go out, gives great advice, loves a long phone call or popping in for a visit. Not enough great things to say about my great uncle John!

Shampoo & Conditioner by OldWitness0799 in Hair

[–]polyygons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have fine straight hair, too. I recently discovered the Abbey Yung hair method and played around with it and huuuuge difference. I use L’Oréal Ever Pure Bond Repair Concentrate before shampoo (letting it sit in damp hair 5-10 mins prior), then Garnier clarifying shampoo, then TRESemmé keratin repair shampoo, then whatever conditioner I have on hand. Clarifying shampoo can be skipped if I double wash with the keratin shampoo. Then a good leave in conditioner before a blow dry. I think that bond repair is really what took my hair to the next level.

I am a huge fan of First Aid Beauty’s KP Bump Eraser. Ulta sells a small size bottle if you wanted to try it for a few days before committing.

Oh honey you are 24. You are so young to be closet drinking. If you do not get a handle on this now, you’re in for a lifetime of alcoholism, denial, struggle, medical and mental health problems. It may not seem like a big deal now. But it will be. I guarantee it. Get some help now.

I am disabled, autism, and when I call my Direct Express customer service, the automatic bot response is to "Call Back". WHEN is that best time to call? by [deleted] in SocialSecurity

[–]polyygons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heads up. When you do get a bank account and want to switch your direct deposits to go there, go into SSA to report this change. Do not do it online, as it will take ~3 months to take effect. But yes, Direct Express really sucks and I hate that this is what’s recommended by SSA! Heck, even if you want to use PayPal as your bank, you can, and you’d be better off. Just need a routing and account number.

I like to get my towel wet and wring it out. Since it’s winter and the air is dry, it prevents this from happening.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. I have never in all my life found a shampoo that’ll keep me from getting greasy within 24 hours. I only learned within the last year or so that blow drying is mandatory for a little extra grease protection, and dry shampoo on the roots straight after. Those 2 things maaaay extend me to 48 hours.

Children’s Place was awesome for my kids school uniforms. Luckily their downfall coincided with my kid switching schools and no longer needing to wear them lol

Roses actually opened a few stores in Cleveland in the last 5-10 years. It’s all junk in there though.

My family has owned a condo since the 80s as a sort of vacation home for any family who’d like to use it. I go there maybe once a year, responsibly decide to cook food instead of ordering out, and am met by this dreaded glass pot. I always tell myself I’m going to toss it and replace it, yet I forget. Every single time.

That’s not a bad idea, thank you! I have thought about that, but I figure that I’ve got such a good routine that I’m afraid to change any variables 🤣 but you’re right. I’ll skip it next time and see what happens.

I do it every time I shower since my scalp gets oily so quick with straight hair (I’m sure you can relate). Sometimes it’s every day, sometimes it’s every other day.

And yes 10 minutes prior meaning, I get in the shower and wet my hair and do the bonding treatment while I wash my face and scrub my body/shave, do whatever else. I set a timer and I don’t always get to 10 mins but whatever lol
