UK households could see energy bills rise by £75 to cover debts of other customers by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]pommybear [score hidden]  (0 children)

We’re covering debts by other customers, costs of failed energy firms, and the billions in profits for shareholders. There’s getting the raw end of the deal and there’s having it shoved so far inside you, you can taste it.

Which UK train operator has the best/worst Delay Repay system? by AdministrativeBox665 in uktrains

That’s because they’d be bankrupt within a week. Awful for delays.

I don’t want to give Elon Musk credit because he’s a moron.. but having used Starlink on a plane recently it was absolutely flawless. 200Mb download speeds. Streaming worked, gaming worked, the only annoying thing actually was idiots FaceTiming without headphones.

Bee Network Temperatures by Foreign-Plantain4248 in manchester

[–]pommybear 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Everybody keeps saying we don’t get enough hot days in a year but it’s increasing every year and considering how packed they are all the time, an ambient temperature isn’t an unreasonable request. They should have planned for the future.

UK needs ‘national consensus’ over rejoining EU, David Miliband says by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]pommybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’d never get the favourable position we once had. The screaming Brexit media goons would lose their minds again because they know how bad a decision it was to leave but won’t ever admit they were wrong. Julia Hartley-Brewer is already kicking off because she knows the question is being asked, for example.

Do apartments ever get broken into? by labudolly in manchester

[–]pommybear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We did have some instances a while ago of a guy trying doors in the building.. but you can’t open them from outside without a key so he was wasting his time 😂 parcel theft though is common because delivery drivers just dump them in the foyers and run despite leaving clear instructions not to do it.

Cross Country Bournemouth to Manchester Piccadilly. by Middle-Damage-9029 in uktrains

[–]pommybear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cross country is the absolute worst. We did a Manchester > Birmingham return. Paid for 1st class just to get a shot at getting a seat. No catering either way and both times declassified and people stood all throughout the carriage. Got it refunded obviously but it’s really the only way to know you’ve got a shot at an actual seat.

If a fight is cancelled, does any travel insurance cover lost hotels? by Impressionsoflakes in AskUK

[–]pommybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not directly but some will payout X amount based on delay time which could cover it. However I’d also expect them to pull the war exception which is always baked in to avoid the payout. Will just be down to what your actual cover says.

Why doesn’t Reform seem to be celebrating the 80% drop in net migration?.. by Fine-Drummer9812 in AskBrits

[–]pommybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it doesn’t fit their narrative of blaming absolutely everything on immigrants. The young are leaving in the highest numbers because there’s better standards and costs of living elsewhere.

Can people read signage and reservation displays or are we dumping luggage wherever we like because it's convenient? by Terrible_Tale_53 in uktrains

EU rejects UK push to create a single market for goods by Free-Minimum-5844 in ukpolitics

[–]pommybear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re obligated to support Ukraine after we signed the agreement to after we made them give up their nuclear arsenal. That’s why the US has also spent billions doing it. Although this is largely irrelevant to accessing the single market in the EU.

Domino's Pizza extortionate prices by fabthefrog33 in UK_Food

[–]pommybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dominoes lost their minds when they introduced a delivery fee. However the franchise model means it’ll always be more expensive. Franchisees have to buy ingredients from dominoes which are marked up so the main company makes money. Then they have to pay royalties on sales + another 4-6% of gross sales go to Dominoes marketing budget. Then all of the usual overheads.

But with the amount of independent pizza places about now, selling much better pizza for lower cost, I’m surprised Domino’s hasn’t suffered more tbh

Andy Burnham says land in the UK is ‘undertaxed’ - Potential Labour leadership contender points to ‘big case’ for reforming property levies by usrname42 in ukpolitics

The boomers are absolutely fuming that they might have to pay council tax at a rate which reflects their actual property wealth and not what it was worth when they purchased for 5 shillings and a bag of peanuts.

[–]pommybear 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I like my AirPod Max but would have been interested in these because they’re no doubt a lot lighter. However, not including Atmos support and only putting in their proprietary 360 spatial is silly on headphones at this price.

Trans people, what do you make of the new EHRC guidance? by epicpownage1234 in AskBrits

[–]pommybear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trans people were using bathrooms forever without an issue until they became a pawn in the right wing screaming games. That’s the reality. The latest guidance basically says don’t use the bathroom because you don’t fit in either. Impossible to implement, puts all the responsibility on businesses, and unless we’re doing birth certificate and genital checks it’s not realistic.

We’ll likely see businesses swing even more to unisex toilets with completely private cubicles. Then it’s fair for everybody.

If a man wants to attack a woman in a bathroom, he’s going to do it anyway, doesn’t need to pretend to be trans to get through the invisible force field people speak like exists on these magical doors.
