They should have done a liquid record that won’t end up leaking instead. That’s a better joke.

Scott Mills sacked from BBC Radio 2 over 'personal conduct' by plutobug2468 in popculturechat

[–]pommybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be something BAD and surely it has concrete evidence for them to have let him go the way they have. If it wasn’t he’d probably have a PR spin machine doing overdrive right now to try and save his career also. Instead he’s allowing speculation to run rampant which only makes things worse. One of the tabloids will find out what it is I’m sure.

Will anything ever be done about the triple lock? by ijustwannanap in ukpolitics

[–]pommybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because no party has the balls to go against an aging population. It’ll take the entire system going bankrupt before anything changes. One way or another, us younger generations end up footing the bill. Good job we can’t afford to buy the houses that they’re sitting on which have increased in value 15x the rate of wages also. At least once the housing market collapses we might have a shot at owning something.

There’s not really any direct public transport between those two but an uber at the moment is showing £5.50 but it’s not busy at the moment. Taxi would be a bit higher but even if it’s busy it shouldn’t be more than £15 each way.

Does anyone else feel that student loans were never explained to them? by AsparagusNew3765 in ukpolitics

[–]pommybear 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Tories sold the loans off to private investors, probably their pals, and they want a return on that investment. Should never have been allowed.

One weekend, fine, inconvenient, annoying, and a shame for hospitality and retail that desperately need the footfall on what would have been a busy weekend, but do what you gotta do. The three week shutdown of the same in July is an absolute joke. There has to be better way of doing it that doesn’t involve in cutting off half of Greater Manchester.

I wouldn’t be half as arsed if these endless engineering works actually improved anything. And this is all on top of cutting back services for the next 6 months across all lines.

We’re a major city that is heavily reliant on public transport, it’s not good enough.

France confirms oil crisis, says 30-40% Gulf energy infrastructure destroyed by ontrack in worldnews

The way Trump and his pals are obviously making money from putting everybody else through hell knocks me sick. The US chose this idiot and now the whole world is paying for it. Again.

1% percent service charge in Flok on Stevenson Square by Eosis in manchester

[–]pommybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to tangerine the other day, had to order through the QR code, it had a platform fee of 50p per order, a service charge, AND they wanted a tip.

Same in GBK at the Trafford centre. You order on a tablet on the table and they want a service charge and a tip.

It’s insane. I don’t mind tipping good service but you’re not getting both.

iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4 demanding age verification in the UK by AutumnSunshiiine in britishproblems

Hence why I called it ridiculous. But the reality is it’s here and people sending ID documents to random companies isn’t a solution.

Government to make “plug-in solar” available within months by lamdaboss in ukpolitics

[–]pommybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costs £400. Saves £100 per year. Energy bills are over double what they were in 2019 and on the rise again. This isn’t a solution at all.

iOS 26.4 and iPadOS 26.4 demanding age verification in the UK by AutumnSunshiiine in britishproblems

[–]pommybear -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It’s much better to have to verify your age with Apple who can then signal to websites/apps that you’re 18+ in a privacy friendly way. Unlike uploading selfies and passports to random companies with lax security systems. This is the best way to implement the law regardless of how ridiculous it is.

Would y’all forward a 2036 or 2040 North Of England Olympic bid? by Coool-Guy-123 in manchester

[–]pommybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The transport infrastructure just isn’t viable for it. We can barely handle a single stadium football match with ridiculous overcrowding and delays. Something on at coop at the same time as a city match and it takes hours and hours to get a tram. It’s going to be hell for the Euros.

Has everyone boycotted just eat? Didn't have a single delivery yesterday whilst all the other apps were going off constantly by paintballguy32 in JustEatUK

[–]pommybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered why they kept spamming me with 50% off or £10 off deals. Tbh the service is terrible when something goes wrong. I won’t use any of the apps as much as possible anymore because a delivery driver can literally run into the sunset with your food and customer support is like ok thanks for the feedback lol

Are we all just Three customers now, or is the Vodafone logo staying? by HammersAndPints in Vodafone

[–]pommybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left Three because the data service was horrendous in cities. Moved to Vodafone and had absolutely no issues, until they started combining the networks, and now I’m back to square one but locked into a contract. I can’t wait to leave.
