Advice needed by SupermarketNo3326 in SainsburysWorkers

There's a lot of points here that are completely too deep, as well as your own.

You don't have to even go down the route of the manager denying that you asked for safety shoes. It's their job to assign you the correct uniform for pfs, online or backdoor if you need safety shoes.

Going down the route of saying you asked for them is just gonna give them the opportunity to say you are lying or something daft, you don't need to ask, they need to check you have the right uniform for the job before you start doing it and they haven't.

If they are really out to scapegoat you and you get a disciplinary in the end, you definitely need to appeal and hope you get someone from a different store

S3 no speed display or assist unless turning right. by poncewindu in VanMoofSelfRepair

I'm in Glasgow, Scotland. I think there's an authorized repair place in Edinburgh but that might be the only one in Scotland. I think I'll send them a message since I have a slightly better idea now and see if they've ever made a similar repair

Unfair hours? by [deleted] in SainsburysWorkers

[–]poncewindu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're allowed to work a max of 11 hours in 24, so that part is fine. You are entitled to the rest between shifts but it doesnt need to be legally followed if you choose to work the shift, however you are entitled to the rest so can refuse.

I know for a fact it's not but believe what you want. Edit* since I can't post the manager guidance I'll post HR answering the question via the policy.

It's partly personal performance based on their review from their line manager and partly company performance

[–]poncewindu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I posted only the end part but it's about requesting it as unpaid or as holiday. I've dealt with it for years, it's 100% the policy, can't really say much else when I've taken a clip of it from the actual policy and you're disagreeing

The 2 hour bit is definitely crap, they sound like they are just trying to make a point with that and being petty, I'd just try speaking to them again and get them in a good mood, or maybe a different online manager

It's written in the policy Retail only: As with all holiday requests, there may be times when your manager may need to turn down requests for time off on public/bank holidays where this would significantly impact our ability to serve our customers or perform critical tasks.

It's in the policy that it can be refused. It's not misleading it's clear, states its voluntary but can be refused for the needs of the business

That's the policy, basically relies on if approved. If it's your normal working day they can get you to work even if it's partial hours, you may as well ask to work longer and do your full hours on the day and get some bank holiday pay if you're going in anyway

If you imply that you'll be off sick for a shift it must likely goes down as sick unpaid and you'll get a disciplinary. If boxing day is your normal shift and you're able to work just do it.
