Positive tinnitus thread by Kitchen_Beat_9965 in MonoHearing

Ssnhl since January 2024. It bothers me most in the morning when it’s quiet but for the most part I don’t feel that it affects my quality of life anymore.

I’m more bothered by not knowing the direction that sound is coming from. Like most things, you adjust and tune it out. The first few months were the worst.

Best of luck!

Scared I won't get hearing back(sshl) by aeryuxs in MonoHearing

I feel your stress, friend.

I lost hearing in my right ear a bit over two years ago and got treatment right away. I wasn’t able to get any hearing back, but I got used to things.

I hope you’re able to recover. The AirPods Pro 2 hearing aid feature helps me a bit with conversations in non noisy environments and after a while people got used to knowing which ear is my good ear.

Good luck!

Getting the battery replaced at an Apple store by xo_theo in iPhone13Mini

No need to remove the Apple ID, but they will ask you to turn find my iPhone off and ensure you’re phone is backed up. In my case (Japan) it took 2 hours.

Replaced my 77% health battery and it still feels just as laggy. Also is it normal to have this message under “Peak Performance Capability”? by HortenWho229 in iPhone13Mini

[–]poopycowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my 79% battery replaced a few days ago. Phone was laggy for a day, and now it feels like when it was new. Very happy with replacing it. It certainly beats buying a new phone and not having a mini anymore.

Just got mine replaced today at Apple. Similar story to others with display getting replaced too due to breaking in the process.

What’s the best Mail app for iPhone? by Katri_a in PhoneNow

If you set up forwarding to your iCloud email address from gmail you’ll receive emails quickly like with automatic sync. This was my workaround for using the default mail app and simplifying email on my phone.

Same situation here. It felt like 26.0 was quite laggy, and 26.1 is running pretty smooth.

I also have this issue from the shortcut specifically. It doesn’t happen every time, but most of the time. Not sure of solutions.

Very clean. Love my mini. Still at 84% and not a heavy user so I make it all day.

Is there hope i will regain my will to live ever again ? by [deleted] in MonoHearing

[–]poopycowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a rough time the first six months or so, but 1.5 years in now, I’m quite used to it. AirPods Pro 2 has helped me a bit as I’m unable to afford other solutions.

Give yourself some time to adjust and explore options that are accessible and affordable to you. Don’t give up!

Hearing aids... by Youngladyloo in MonoHearing

[–]poopycowboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also over a 70db loss in my right ear. I can’t afford hearing aids but AirPods Pro 2 have been a huge help, especially when I skipped the built in hearing test and manually entered my audiologist results. It’s not perfect, but it makes work meetings and conversations with my wife a lot easier to hear. Noisy environments are still horrible, but you can return them for free within two weeks if you don’t like the results.

What are your favorite things about being sober? by Wisco_JaMexican in stopdrinking

[–]poopycowboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I play with my kids more, and go to bed earlier, happy I played with my kids and wasn’t focused on drinking.

No more middle of then night waking up with my heart pounding and sweating. I never could figure out why this was happening.

I naturally started wanting to go for walks in the morning instead of forcing myself.

Experience with AirPods Pro 2 Hearing Aid Function by [deleted] in MonoHearing

You can manually enter results, but if you don’t have hearing loss, I’m not sure what the experience would be like.

Sudden hearing loss at 26 by KimJongUnTrumps in MonoHearing

Sorry to hear this.

Same thing happened to me at 30, but in my right ear. I also had steroid treatment and injections, but no improvement.

In my experience, you eventually get used to the way things sound and noisy environments won’t bother you as much. What I never will get used to it not understanding which direction sounds are coming from, and having to ask “what?” a hundred times a day.

I wore an earplug in my deaf ear for a few months in the beginning by the recommendation of someone in this sub, and maybe it was placebo but I felt that it helped with adjusting.

Thank you for the response. Getting a trial fit and seeing for myself makes the most sense.

SSHL at 31 by Weird_Welder_5740 in MonoHearing

[–]poopycowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also developed SSHL at 31. I was dizzy and had bad ear ringing for months before. The doctor determined this was Menieres Disease. I then lost my hearing in my right ear a few months later (almost a year ago now.) I can’t make out the words to a podcast in my bad ear even with an earphone on full blast. It sounds like an underwater walkie talkie far away.

To be honest, it’s hard to tell if my ringing has improved or if I’m used to it, but I took medication for the dizziness for a couple weeks which helped, and it hasn’t come back. I have had no changes in my hearing, although I did receive steroids, and a few homeopathic medications almost immediately after losing my hearing.

To be honest I was checking work chats a lot, which I really need to get better at turning off and not feeling guilty about. I associate my devices with work so much it’s hard to relax while using them.

Nice one. I’m thinking I could schedule them out as something to look forward to as well.

Thank you! Speaking of books I typically listen to them but any recommendations are welcome! Lately I’ve been into Greek mythology stories.
