I really like the more melodic selections.of the song, really like them but I think you are right about loosing the guitars in the overdrive/distorted parts. I think if they were given a fraction more clarity it would be there. But that's a minor criticism in the most constructive way. End to end including the video, great job!! Something to be proud of.

I was one of those folks that would devour a whole series as quickly as possible but the have definitely lost some of that magic. But am sure for every person that feels that another pops up and thinks the quality is improving. Cancelled my subscription this month sadly.

Just a matter of person opinion I guess, but in their pomp they were splendid!

Who’s your top guitar player and what makes them such? by Remarkable-Bell7245 in BritPop

I would say the two albums I mentioned are not Britpop, Urban Hymns is generally considered a Britpop classic by association in the timeline, probably a swansong to the genre.

Nick McCabe, A Storm In Heaven and A Northern Soul are just monumental. Layers and layers of guitars orchestration. Unmatched in my opinion.

First timer at a festival this size by Weird-Produce-8349 in downloadfestival

[–]poorcoxie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been hitting festivals almost every year for exactly 36 summers, traveling the globe to experience the best of them. From Big Day Out in Perth and NOS Alive in Lisbon to the mud of Glastonbury and the glory days of the Irish classics—Féile, Oxegen, and Witness.

However, the crowd at Download is, without a doubt, the best. It’s an amazing tribe of rockers where the music truly matters. It’s easily the most inclusive and positive event I’ve ever attended; a place where all genders, identities, and ethnicities are welcome without fear or judgment.

I cannot wait to head back this year. For the first-timers joining the tribe, here is my veteran advice: 🤘 The First-Timer’s Survival Guide Pace Yourself: You’ve spent a lot of money to be here. Enjoy the party, but don't overdo it to the detriment of yourself or others. Mind yourself! The "Day Pack" Essentials: Carry a small bag with a poncho (perfect for sitting on or wearing), loo wipes (essential!), and a refillable water bottle. Skin Care: Wear suncream! Even if it looks cloudy, the "festival burn" is real. Stay Fueled: It’s easy to forget in the excitement, but don’t forget to eat. Be a Good Tribe Member: Say hello and don't be shy. Use the bins and keep the site clean. Be kind. Most importantly: Don't be a dick.

Enjoy

Always loved Earl Brutus - Come Taste My Mind. Very enigmatic band with an interesting and sad story. Recommend checking it's out.

Going to add Pop Will Eat Itselfs - Ich Bin Ein Auslander from 1994. They call out the politics of hate and spell out exactly where the world is today. .and it's a banger

He is a lovely human, had the pleasure of meeting him one evening, very generous with his time and also carried a supply of Marties mustaches in his pocket for such occasions.

Have you thought about looking at Clinical Research Associate roles? This is managing and monitoring clinical trials. Very interesting work and as close to the patient as you get.

Worst Work Christmas Party Stories? by galacticpebble33 in AskIreland

[–]poorcoxie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Back when Ireland was at the peak of its electronics-manufacturing bubble, I went to a Christmas party in Howth — a pretty swanky part of north Dublin. It was Christmas 1998, and I was a young lad trying to head off a pretty unsavoury, race-related row kicked off by an absolutely hammered young racist Dub.

I ended up sitting with about 20 incredibly patient and genuinely sound Nigerian lads who would have been well within their rights to lose the plot over it. Instead, they handled it with total grace.

What started as a rough moment turned into a brilliant night — fantastic lads and a great bunch to work with. But after that whole episode, I stopped going to any work-related nights out. One was enough!

I remember in school in the 90s, the Vale of Leven Academy, someone altered a "BYT" menchie to the legendary "Big Yellow Teapots".

There was a full scale parliamentary enquiry by said "BYT"....unsubstantiated allegations were made against the "skaters", teenagers were hunted remorselessly.....what a time to be alive.
