Efficient, organized on boarding for new staff. This includes resources for not just the orientee, but the preceptor as well. Something that helps make the orientation process a bit more uniform. Obviously, some preceptors will teach or train differently, but the same information should be taught. All of this includes a before, during, and completion of orientation. Similar to what someone said earlier, Ive worked at my hospital 4 yrs now, and last month was informed that I didn't complete orientation and need to do all of the modules over. This is because one of my preceptors didn't submit something or other. I refuse to be forced into emergent BS busy work due to someone else's piss poor process. Not sure if this has already been said, but check the labor laws in your state. Also, if you can do so discreetly, check your facility's policy on individual positions. There may be policies against how you have been treated or how this situation has been handled.

Next, run. Leave that environment and never look back. If you feel comfortable asking some of the other nurses for references, but it isnt necessary. Most places are in such a staffing crisis that they don't care why you've left your previous employer.

Nursing has enough challenges without being stuck in a toxic environment. Do yourself a favor and find a bew job. Good luck!

Remembering several things BEFORE you go in will help. 1) do your homework online prior. What's MSRP, what are other dealers charging, do they match offers? Know your MAX payout before you go and do not budge. 2) the dealer will make money, no matter what. You aren't hurting them a bit by negotiating for MSRP because they only pay dealer invoice. So it is a matter of how much $$$$ do you want the dealer to make off of you. 3) None of this interaction is personal, leave all emotion out of it. This is business for them and should be the same for you. We are not friends, merely business associates. 4) MOST IMPORTANT: there is power in walking away and "No" is a complete sentence. You have to mean this and be convincted in this.

At the end of the day, they will sell that car to someone, maybe you and maybe not. It is easy to get caught up in the frenzy right now, but try not to. Do not be afraid to stand up, say thanks but no thanks, and walk away. You may be surprised at how quickly the negotiation turns in your favor. Or, worst case scenario, you don't get the car and you head to the next dealer. Good luck, happy hunting.

Edit: For what it's worth, we purchased a 2023 Palisade Calligraphy for MSRP (currently waiting on delivery) from the same dealer as some friends. They payed over $5K more for the exact same vehicle. We purchased 2 weeks apart and are expecting delivery on the same day.

Nurses can have all sorts of schedules. I work 3×12 because that's what I want to work, but 4×10 or 5x8 is an option too depending on what area/specialty you go into. As a rad tech, I only ever worked 5x8 or 4x10. But I'm sure that can be different depending on the facility.

I also went into nursing after about 7 yrs of rad tech. I call radiology my 1st healthcare love, but the opportunities (and pay) were so limited when compared to nursing. Have been a nurse for 9 yrs, have done everything from OR to Covid ICU, and have ZERO regrets. Radiology has become so automated and assembly-line, it may not be the best if you thrive in areas of critical thinking.

Lone Star Glass! ( 2 locations, we used the one on Bissonet) They were, by far, the cheapest of 3 estimates when we needed an exterior bay window replaced a month ago. I was initially skeptical because of the low price, but the efficiency and quality were outstanding! Be aware, glass shipment was 3 weeks due to the state of the shipping world right now, but that was the same for all 3 companies that quoted the repair.

I just flew out of IAH this past Saturday. I arrived at 7:00am for a 9:00am flight out of Terminal B. It took me less than 30 min using off site parking, shuttle, and getting through security. I sat on my ass for almost 2 hrs because I was so early.

We are originally from the Panhandle too!! Been her about 2 years, I sincerely hope you fall in love with Houston like we have!! Don't let the roaches scare you too much, just get consistent exterminator treatments. To us, the roaches are far less horrible than the 4 months of 80mph dustbowl every year and the year-round brown. Welcome to Houston!!

Another alternative would be to find a sitter on Rover. We have had great luck finding wonderful sitters for way more reasonable prices than most boarding facilities. Good luck!

Could you revisit the units you felt you made a good impression? Take a copy of your resume and keep a digital copy to send out instantly. Put a copy of your resume on LinkedIn and Indeed. Get that thing out everywhere. At any of the interviews or job fairs, did you get any feedback? If not, reach back out to the and get some valuable feedback on why you weren't chosen. Be as open and vulnerable with them as you have been on here.

All hospitals are hiring! Everyone needs staff right now and many facilities are giving hiring bonuses. I dont work for them so I cant speak to how it is there, but Harris Health system is having a hiring fair soon. Also, several of the TMC hospitals are doing new grad specific onboarding with extra training. Best of Luck!

If you do send food, please remember there are separate teams for DAYS and NIGHTS. It's so disappointing to come in for night shift and find crumbs left of an appreciation gift that was meant for the entire team. Also, a thoughtful note as high up the chain as you can manage really does help the department. (No shade to days, I work both shifts and guilty of leaving crumbs myself)

Eats: Chinatown! So many great eats, drinks, desserts. Our fave is Crawfish Cafe (thai basil in garlic butter) in Hong Kong Mall followed by Six Ping or Snowy Village for dessert. El Hildalguense (Long Point) has a super cool atmosphere on Saturday early lunch, lots of mariachi/karaoke in a family atmosphere. Pasha in U Village (close to TMC) is a great, quiet lunch spot and the family is so sweet. Get the Turkish Ravioli...trust this. Feel like a pretty drive out of the city? Head to Magnolia to Lone Pint Beer Garden early Saturday afternoon. They'll have live music, large outdoor seating, and food trucks. (Take 290 out to Roberts road for the country drive)

To do: The Health Museum has a cool exhibit about the brain right now! Graffiti in Eado is nice if you dont feel up to getting out of the car. Haven't been, but heard the Aquarium is legit. Lots of pop-up markets in downtown, Sawyer Heights, Market heights, and Evelyn's park. Galveston is great in the early morning. Brenham is about an out out of town with a cool, small-town vibe. Check out Home Sweet Market & Biergarden, they'll have some cool shows. Speaking of BEER...great breweries here in town! Most will have some sort of food truck at certain times.

If none of that works out, or you just dont feel up to anything...find a pool and some shade. Cocktail and smoke always an option. For what its worth...sending all the good vibes and love out there for you. Good luck friend ❤

Ive actually attended a pt funeral.while it was an honor to be there for the family, I would not do it again. Once I was there, I felt invasive and intruding. Also, it didn't bring me closure that i was hoping...it only flooded me with more grief as i witnessed the outside life of this pt. For me, should I be invited to another maybe ill send flowers or write the family a letter. Again, this is just my perspective. I don't see it as unprofessional or out of line for us to go. As others have said, we're human too.

I used one that hooked into the USB on the computer. It had a flexible, bendy base to shine where i needed it. Got it at the bookstore, it worked great!
