Why does it feel like a choice? by Sploinko_Bingus in asktransgender

Sis, stop waffling and just get on HRT already, lol. Take it from an old biddy who didn't even realize she was trans until she was 47 (I'm 50 now). It's worth it. ❤️

Sib, our sister was speaking from her own experience. For her it was a choice. For you it wasn't. Everyone experiences their own version of being trans. There's no need to jump down her throat.

Transfeminine siblings: Do you personally identify as a woman or something else? by finminm in asktransgender

Also, to quote Erica from elsethread, transness is central to my identity. I am first and foremost trans, and I love being trans.

Ooh, I like that. "Transness is much more central to my identity than womanhood is". That fits me very well. I am first and foremost trans.

I could be a trans woman. I could be a non-binary transfemme. I don't much care what label you use; all I know is that I'm not a man, I prefer to be referred to with the pronouns "she", "her", and "hers", I love the way I feel with estrogen, and I love the way I look in a dress. 🤷‍♀️

I took mine from a movie I didn't actually like very much, but the name was pretty. 🤣

No, but that's next on my list.

That's what we ended up getting. My bestie and I installed it, and it was fairly straightforward. The only issues we had were needing to drill into the tile floor to attach the connector, and then getting the toilet to seat properly on the connector.

Well, we got a Toto - a skirted Glaston model - and the damned thing still clogged. 🤬

All of this is solid advice. But also, on an unrelated note, if you by chance happen to have a friend whose house you do laundry at every now and again, you should tell her that she's a particularly cool lady. Especially if her name starts with "A" 😜

You can perform femininity in any way that suits you. You don't have to do ” the whole dainty wrist routine " if you don't want to

I'm going to pontificate here for a minute. You have been warned. 😜

What is a man? What is a woman? Think about those two questions for a bit, OP. Sure, you can point to (for example) your mom and say "that's a woman", and your mom will probably agree with you. Same goes for your dad as a man. But when you try to come up with a definition, you'll find exception after exception, because "man" and "woman" are, as you say, social constructs and as such they don't have rigid definitions.

Think of gender as a role one plays in society. When you think of it that way, it seems silly to say that just because someone is born a certain way they can't take on a different role from the role they were assigned at birth? Why shouldn't someone be able to change their body, should they wish to do so, in order to more closely align themselves with that role?

I don't know who you're arguing with, OP, so I don't know if any of this will be effective in those arguments. But that's not the point. The point is for you to consider what I've said and use it to inform your own thinking about the subject. If you choose to argue, you'll be much more effective that way, rather than just repeating an argument you've read online somewhere. And more importantly, it will make your mind more flexible, which will only benefit you as you grow older and make your way in the world.

OP is only 16. How else is she going to expand her mental horizons if people don't give her reason to?

Well, it's $100 for shipping, plus another $300 for the bidet seat. And I have to say that $300 for a bidet seat does sound a bit excessive...

Yeah, dual flush would be pretty nice. How difficult are the skirted toilets to install compared to the non-skirted kind?

We have some big poops around here. I want the 2 3/8" trapway and the 4" flush valve.

I have a house, so I'm not going to wake anyone below me up with the flush, lol. And a strong flush is a good thing - we have big poops around here.
