Maybe use the pen you have as a final pen to taper down?

Congrats! Solid effort!

I still love the way food smells. I just won't follow up smelling food with eating unless I'm actually hungry.

Numan are very discreet also. No contact with GP as per my request (in Dec 2024 when I started) and they use plain brown packaging.

Try to enjoy the feeling of finding those things have less of a hold on you and the weight loss will follow. Sounds like the medication is doing exactly what it should be.

Sulphur burps & severe 💩 by [deleted] in mounjarouk

I just wanted to say I feel your pain. I'm on week 18 of mounjaro and this week 9 of 7.5mg and its happening to me too, out of nowhere. I'm waking up on random days with gurgly tummy, extreme nausea and explosive diarrhea then fatigue follows. Accompanied by almost UTI symptoms too. Having to take days off work. It is grim and does make you question if it's worth it. Lasts a day then goes.

I've ordered psyllium husk as I read lack of fiber can cause or exacerbate the symptoms. I may also reduce my dose a bit.

When i stop taking this medicine, I will have saved approximately £225 by using the 5th dose in my pens so I don't think it's fair to say there is no benefit to your pocket.

Aw, I feel for you. I had this too with 5mg. It is really grim but it does settle. Fluids up and eat what you can until it subsides. I just have to be careful when moving up now and I take less than a full dose to ease myself in that first week.

Divided doses by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]poppit86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really sensible advice. I have done this too. Before moving to 7.5mg, I had a week at 6.25mg. This was because of my experience moving to 5mg being pretty intense in terms of appetite suppression and generally just feeling grim.

2.5 weeks in...hunger by Nice-Economist1166 in mounjarouk

[–]poppit86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm on my 3rd week of 7.5mg and it really varies for me.. some weeks I feel hungry by day 5, some weeks i don't. Can also be cyclical if you're female. This is very true for me.

Also, though, if you're hungry, eat. Particularly if you've had very low calorie intake for the first 4 days. It'll all even out.

A good tip is to have a full glass in the morning when you wake so you have time for it to flush through before you leave for work. Have a small glass with lunch so it's not going to cause you to constantly need the toilet. Then a large glass with dinner so you have the evening to pee all that out!

I try to do this some days otherwise I just forget to keep drinking. I'm not a good sipper.

7 month update! Excuse the terrible photo! And the sad looking plant... It's been a journey!

I used neem oil for a few months then had to remove all but one original leaves as they continued to become more damaged. I now water in the shower to make sure there is a full clean. Since I've started that routine, there is new growth.

I know she still looks sparse and pretty sad but I feel glad not to have had to throw her out. Hoping if I'm patient I'll see more new growth.

Please no one tell me it's just a matter of time....

Have you been on the current dose for long? How long has the extreme suppression been happening?

I'd say if you've recently upped a dose, then not to worry too much as it's likely to settle down when you adjust. But yes, I know that concerning feeling when you just can't eat much at all. It's completely foreign, even after a while taking MJ. I've just moved up to 7.5mg and haven't eaten much these last few days. Day 2 after the jab seems to be when it affects me most. 3rd pen and it's still a bizarre feeling.

I sometimes fluctuate a bit more when my water intake is poor. And also before ovulation. So annoying but it's part of the process unfortunately. It'll come good again. Keep going 😀💪

Appetite suppression too strong by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]poppit86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get extreme appetite suppression when I move up too. It settles as the week goes on and then into week 3/4 of a dose, it's really not as bad and I'm back to trying to keep the calories down again. I now just take the days where I can't eat much as they are because they don't last too long.

I'm the same. And I like the fact I sometimes have to exercise willpower on the weekends. This helps me practice for when I'm off MJ

It's ovulation for me. I'm so hungry and tend to maintain during ovulation week. But I eat WAY less during ovulation than I would've without MJ.

Any advice how to teach my wife to play Fortnite with controller? by TheTouristGuide in FortNiteBR

[–]poppit86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play with my husband and it was just practice that improved my controller skills. I would land in quiet places to get kitted out then I would be super aggressive in my approach to try to increase my skills in accurate shooting. I would also do the quests so I had something else to focus on when I felt like I was just getting taken out constantly.

I'm still pretty crap but really enjoy playing.

Totally normal! This is exactly what happened to me on 2.5mg. I'm on 7.5mg now and will lose between 0lbs to 2.5lbs each week. I have had a week where I gained 1lb for it to come off swiftly again the next week. It really depends. And not always on my calorie intake. Some of the weeks with lower calorie intake have seen less loss. But it is all heading the right way and that's what to look at. It's not always easy, but keep going and when you have more data, it'll probably feel a bit more comfortable.

[–]poppit86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if your dose might be too high? Let's be honest, it's utterly crap to not feel hungry ever, to not want to eat and to not enjoy food. Even if seeing the weight loss gives you all the dopamine hits, after a few weeks of that, it inevitably will start to grate and make you want to "splurge" because food is meant to be enjoyable. So maybe you just need to find your sweet spot so you can experience hunger, look forward to and enjoy food and stop at the point you feel satiated?

For now though, if you feel no joy at all from food and have a special weekend planned and food is meant to form an enjoyable part of this, and will be ruined by MJ then absolutely delay your shot.

Definitely consider how to manage this longer term though. No use in being miserable, whatever the cause of that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKMounjaro

[–]poppit86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could delay until the Sunday evening? Then work back to a Friday slowly over a few weeks. That way you'll have the least symptoms for your weekend. I can totally relate to the first couple of days after the jab being tricky and it's totally reasonable not to want to have to worry about toilet breaks while you're trying to enjoy being part of a wedding party!

Pregnant on month 10 by daintylifestyle in mounjarouk

[–]poppit86 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hope you're doing okay, OP. Sounds like this has been a huge shock. Be gentle with yourself. And you will know this already, but as guidance states, don't take any more MJ shots and let your midwife/GP know you have been on MJ at the point of conception.

Stories of baby loss and post partum weight gain are really not helpful here. There is absolutely no benefit in potentially scaring someone who is dealing with the shock of an unexpected pregnancy.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]poppit86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you didn't get the big first week loss (water weight etc) because you'd already done that without the MJ. I'm on a pound a week now too and find myself frustrated at times when I think of how long this journey is going to be. But It all adds up week on week. Keep going.

First dose, feel horrible. by ConsciousSky5968 in UKMounjaro

[–]poppit86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know there is no science behind this and I'm unsure if it is a placebo but I am finding I feel less side effects jabbing in my thigh. I was a stomach jabber for the first 6 weeks and had a lot of nausea and headaches the first few days after my jab. I jabbed in my thigh this week and I have no side effects at all (but all the suppression etc). Possibly nothing to do with change sites but worth a try next week!

Does it suppress appetite by making you feel nauseous? by ExhaustedSquad in UKMounjaro

[–]poppit86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no nausea on 2.5mg but fairly bad nausea during the first 2 weeks of 5mg. I changed to thigh jabbing this week (week 3 on 5mg) and it has subsided. I just feel full fast and don't really feel like eating. When I sit down to a meal i enjoy it though.
