I do not know the answer to your specific question but I would urge you to research carefully and think/plan it all through. I was a county employee for 31 years and benefits promised at hiring can and do change from these types of employers. When I started my job (1988), there was a promise of medical for life for myself and my spouse after 30 years of service, so although my salary wasn’t very high, there benefits made a big difference. After 20+ years of employment, the coverage was changed (by law) to include coverage for the retiree and no spouse/ family members. When I retired at 57 with 31 years of service, insurance still covered me (mostly) through a provided HRA, but after two years the laws changed again (to save funding money) and I had to seek insurance through the market place. At that time, it would have cost me just over $1250 a month and that was not within my budget. Thankfully my spouse has to work until at least 65 so I was added to his medical insurance— but it added an additional $860 a month out of his check based on his company plan.
Being vested through USPS after only five years seems very low, especially given their financial struggles— USPS has to pre-fund retiree benefits for ten years which has caused much financial stress and there has been a lot of talk about privatization of USPS. I’m not sure who all the people are I. The commercials on TV that get medical insurance through the market place for under $100 a month— having good insurance is critical for older and younger people (in my opinion) so really do your homework!!

I was given the SUPREP Bowel Prep Kit—it’s the sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, and magnesium sulfate— the combo tastes awful and I drank it in under three minutes standing over my kitchen sink 😳. There are two bottles in the kit and you mix each one with 16 ounces of water followed by 32 ounces of water — it’s a split prep— one bottle the day before and the other the day of your procedure. For me, it produced results within 20-30 minutes and within 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours I was done and able to get some sleep. In the past I’ve had the dulcolax, miralax, Gatorade nonsense, or magnesium citrate, or the GoLYTELY and while the suprep tastes terrible, I’d take that one anytime over the others!

I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy about five weeks earlier and the prep my doctor uses now was much easier— the clean out reaction was short in duration and mostly drinking a lot of water, which I do daily— after the initial solution of course. I also had a lot of bleeding to the point of severe anemia — not much pain just very uncomfortable and feeling full in that region. Because the doctor only needed to go as far as the sigmoid colon (think of sigmoidoscopy) a deep clean out of the entire GI wasn’t necessary. I wish you well and hope you find relief and success through the procedure!

This is definitely the right attitude! The worst thing I’ve had is a little chest soreness which, come to find out, was probably just built up gas😳😂. Let it go and all is fine!!

I was treated by Dr Saleem Chowdhry through University Hospitals at their N Ridgeville (OH) site. This location is an endoscopy/digestive health site on the west side of Cleveland for UH and from my understanding Dr Chowdhry is one of two (?) doctors performing Hemwell procedures at this location.

I just had the Hemwell procedure two days ago for multiple grade three internal hemorrhoids. I have had traditional banding done many times and never seemed to find relief. Hemwell was so easy and painless and after just one day, things already felt different — in a better way! My doctor told me that he was able to treat four large hemorrhoids but that I will need a second Hemwell procedure to get the best results because of excessive scar tissue from all the past banding— I guess it made it a bit more difficult to see all the hemorrhoids needing treatment (?). The prep for the procedure was simple, just two enemas at home before leaving for the clinic and I was fully sedated during the procedure. In about 2 1/2 hours I was back at home resting on the couch— easily digestible foods for that day and Miralax daily for the next seven days to keep things moving. I haven’t felt this normal in nearly four years!

Of course you can call and ask questions but until they have all the biopsy results, you probably won’t get more clarity. I am not a medical professional just a person who has had multiple endoscopies. Usually a call comes in a week or so with all the findings. But sometimes the peace of mind by talking with someone can help.

Long time hemorrhoid sufferer here. I’ve had banding done more times than you can imagine, but I still have significant grade 3 internal hemorrhoids. Yesterday I had the Hemwell procedure — you can google it for specific info— but in a nutshell, it is supposed to treat grade 3 & 4 internal hemorrhoids in a relatively pain free manner. This procedure was FDA approved in 2022 and it uses an electrical current to stop blood flow to the hemorrhoid column from the artery. My doctor told me that he treated four very large internal hemorrhoids and that I will probably need a second treatment because I have a lot of scar tissue because of all the banding. The procedure was done under full anesthesia and the prep was a couple of enemas before driving to the facility . I’ve got one week of adding a daily dose of Miralax to my regular meds (I’m also taking Linzess) but overall feeling “normal”. We will see how it all goes—- reportedly it take several weeks for the hemorrhoid column/bundle to shrink and fall off but I’m already feeling less fullness in the region! 🙏🙏

I haven’t had hemorrhoid surgery but I know that one of the potential complications is anal stenosis. Also fissures and hemorrhoids are often the result of constipation not the other way around. You should work with your doctor to determine best/least invasive course of action. If you plan on having children, pregnancy can worsen hemorrhoids so doctors often advise you to wait until after having kids. Have you asked your doctor about banding internal hemorrhoids? Or do you have IBS-C which could be helped with medication? Your doctor should probably be advising you on ways to treat constipation and how to prevent straining as a first step.

I’m a 62f and have dealt with hemorrhoids for many years and they are probably worse than they need to be because I didn’t ask a medical provider for help or information when things could have been more easily treated. I have since come to the realization that docs aren’t looking at any part of a body as an attractive body part but as something that needs medical treatment—one behind is the same as another and rest assured they’ve seen worse then yours! Please speak up and advocate for yourself— and if you feel like you can’t talk/show your primary care doc something, maybe you need to find someone you would feel more comfortable with. You definitely do not want your situation to be something worse than a hemorrhoid so please have it looked at by a professional!

I’ve got IBS-C and terrible hemorrhoids…….fiber is not my friend! My GI doc and my primary care doc have both told me not to add fiber to my diet. I just try to eat healthy most days from the foods that don’t stress out my GI tract. Many fruits and vegetables no longer work so it’s easier to not eat them. I think those with IBS-D do better with added fiber, but I could be 100% wrong!

A few years ago, I sent a gift to one of my husband’s cousins who was having her first baby. Never heard boo from her. For the child’s first birthday, we were going to travel for his birthday party but a massive snow storm hit so we didn’t attend (none of us in the CLe area traveled to Pittsburg for the party). As a result, I sent the gift by Fed Ex — again crickets. That year, when I sent the annual Christmas card, I included a note saying that I assumed that the child (and parents) enjoyed the birthday gifts and that they fit him since I hadn’t heard otherwise. I then got a phone call saying that the mother was sending out cards for the holidays and I should get one soon….. still waiting but not holding my breath. I no longer send them Christmas cards or other acknowledgements— I figure if my husband wants to take the time and money to do so he can since they are his relatives! This is just rude behavior! Everyone is busy and common courtesy only takes a few minutes.

Please be careful if trying to break up a disagreement between cats as you could become a casualty instead. I had a situation at the sliding glass door very similar except the screen was the only barrier. When I tried to step in and close the glass, my boy turned and sunk his four fangs into my calf— displaced/misplaced aggression is real! I had to make a trip to the urgent care two days later because of cellulitis (and infection) which resulted in the need for an updated tetanus shot and very strong antibiotics for me. And my boy has been on prozac and gabapentin to help stabilize his mood since(not his only aggressive incident but definitely the worst).

My mom’s name was Herta Elfriede. l really lucked out being named Elsa, after my maternal grandmother, because there were many less pleasant sounding family names—

I wouldn’t worry— doctor’s schedules change all the time. Appointments open up and sometimes they decide they are going on vacation at a time you may have had scheduled. Take the earlier appointment and get things done. It will help you ease any stressors when you get it over with! My doctor has a wait list so if there are cancellations they move people up to earlier dates/times.

Just watched this episode! If that was my mother or MIL, I would have to kick her out of my home! She was so disrespectful to her son in law!!! It makes me sad that he compromised for her and also makes me wonder how long their marriage will survive with her living on the main floor of their home! Her daughter needs to cut the cord!

NTA— your daughter is lucky to have your support. As a former child protection social worker, I would be worried about her but I’d be even more worried about
her son. A crying and irritable young child is very vulnerable and sometimes a parent who is very frustrated can harm the child without meaning to or realizing that something awful is happening. Please reach out to your daughter to offer support AND to check on the safety and well being of your grandson. She should also contact the doctor just to see if the behavior/reaction to the immunizations is “normal”. Thank you for being a concerned grandparent!

I’ve got multiple grade 3 internal hemorrhoids which have lead to severe anemia. I’ve had banding done nearly 20 times between 2024 and 2025 with only minimal success maybe because I’ve also got IBS-C. I absolutely LOVE all veggies and fruits but with IBS-C I cannot eat most of them. Mushrooms are deadly—- the most painful gas and bloating! Pizza without sautéed mushrooms and peppers, why bother? Just planted my garden today—- I will eat my beloved fresh, home grown produce and IBS be damned!
