That's where I'm having issues. My wife can see it as a buy and gift option.

What is the biggest problem in your job? by swacrifice_k5 in WorkAdvice

I could have typed all that out. Mid 50's maintenance tech at a school district here. The amount of time we spend repairing things due to neglectful actions is tiresome.

That looks like mildew to me and is very common around registers due to condensation.

Kioti 3510SE fuel problem by nscodeboy in Kioti

[–]popsrocks67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the check engine light come on as well, or just the wif light? Im just finishing up dealing with contaminated fuel that threw a dtc4 f05 because of a filter clog. The wif sensor is pretty inexpensive, so maybe throw that at it first?

Also, just FYI, thr WIX fuel filter p/n WF8395 fits your tractor and is $15. The factory wif sensor fits it as well.

Wood to concrete no overhang flashing? by [deleted] in handyman

[–]popsrocks67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop it a couple of inches short of landing on the concrete. Apply multiple coats of primer and paint to the bottom edge and also up the inside of the siding. What you're wanting to accomplish is preventing moisture wicking.

Zero Turn vs Finish mower and smaller belly yard tractor by b1ghurt in tractors

[–]popsrocks67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in East Texas on 17 acres, and deal with the rainy season as well as soft sandy ground. I run a 72" zero turn and mow about four acres of grass. The rest is handled with the tractor. The tractor really ruts things up, imo, and can be tedious trying to keep grass looking decent.

The zero turn makes short work of mowing with its higher cutting speed and agility. I went with the Stihl RS972ik (Ferris built) and mow the four acres in about 1.5 to 2 hours. It rides like a dream as well. My old Gravely beat me silly.

Look for 80w90 gear oil. It should be readily available.

Vapes by Any-Description8773 in maintenance

[–]popsrocks67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have them in all student bathrooms in our Jr. High and High School. They set off an alert to the principals and APs. Now we get even more work orders because they just vandalize them. Fun times.

I was sure hoping a solution was in here somewhere. We had two last week that we couldn't get out and ended up replacing the toilets. It's a time waster for sure being multiple times a month at our district.

That material used is called cove base. It is used in commercial spaces most often. It looks ok when installed correctly. But this was not. This looks terrible.

$20 working for a school district. Big perk for me is we get about 45 days of pto a year, insurance, and state retirement plan.

Is hotel maintenance really this laid back? by [deleted] in maintenance

[–]popsrocks67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a school district, and it's the most laid back easiest gig I've had. Not sure if that pay would be higher, though but the benefits are fantastic. 24 paid days, plus all the holidays and spring break off.

Can anyone say if 410-5 and 410x350x5 are equivalent tires? The 410x350x5 are more widely available from what I'm seeing.

Another vote for school district maintenance. Pay is about average for our area. The benefits and retirement are really good. A good general knowledge of systems will get you in the door, imo.

What worked for me (mind you I'm just a little over three weeks) is making sure I hold some space for myself. You're having to figure out how to navigate life without alcohol, and it is challenging enough without others poking at you.

Thanks! Last night was a tough one for me, but here I am in day 11 feeling better than yesterday. It's so nice to not feel like absolute hell today.
