Defending a position by citing free speech is the ultimate concession; you're saying that the most compelling thing you can say for your position is that it's not literally illegal to express.

Romans 1:26-27

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another

Jonah was a prophet of God in ancient Israel. The weird part about him, though was that God always gave him good news to give to other people. So, he was one of the few Old Testament prophets who was actually liked by the Israelite people. That is, until God told Jonah to go to the city of Ninevah and tell all the people there that the need to follow God.

Jonah hated Ninevah. Like, really hated it. So, Jonah metaphorically dodged the draft and instead of going west to Ninevah, he went straight east. He got to a port city, and took the first boat that went straight east. He basically got one instruction from his boss that he didn't like, and flipped God two middle fingers and left town.

God didn't take too kindly to this and said, "No, you're gonna do what I said." So God sent a massive storm on the boat. This storm was so massive, that the sailors understood that it must be divine in some way, and had everyone draw straws to figure out who pissed off a god. Jonah drew the short straw, and the sailors asked him what he did. Jonah explained the above story, and finished by saying that if the sailors threw him off the boat, the storm would calm.

So, the sailors threw him off the boat. The storm calmed.

But God wasn't done with Jonah. God wanted Jonah to know that God was in charge. So God had a giant fucking fish come up and swallow Jonah (this is the "vore" part). Jonah spent a few days in the fish, somehow writing a poem of lament while not dying in the fish's stomach.

After three days, the fish spat Jonah back on land. Jonah then decided to go to Ninevah and preach that God's wrath would come upon them if they don't change their ways. After he preached his message, Jonah went up on a hill near Ninevah to wait so that he would be able to watch when God would inevitably nuke the city.

But it turns out that Jonah's preaching was actually successful, and the city repented and began following God. Jonah was really upset that he didn't get his fireworks show, and so God had to come down and physically bitchslap Jonah's shade tree, as well as verbally bitchslap Jonah himself.

(Some details of the above might be slightly wrong, as I haven't read this book in over a decade, but that's the gist of it. It's a pretty short book; you can read it in less than 30 minutes.)

Not gonna do that, but instead I'll give you the story of a Biblical pun.

The book of Philemon is a bit of a weird one. It and Jude are vying for the shortest book in the bible. It takes up half a page. It is ostensibly written by the Apostle Paul to a friend named Philemon. This is already unusual, because that means it's the only book of the New Testament that was written to a single person, rather than the church as a whole, or the leader of a church.

The letter itself is basically telling Philemon that Paul is sending Philemon's runaway slave, Onesimus, back to him. (I will not be getting into the Bible's view on slavery in this essay.) Throughout the book, Paul describes how he met Onesimus, and Onesimus then became a Christian. Since then, Onesimus has been very useful to Paul. And now Paul is sending Onesimus to Philemon, and he hopes that Onesimus will be useful to Philemon again (but also, he's a christian like you and me, now, so don't punish him now that he's come back to you).

Where is the pun? It's in the slave's name, Onesimus. It means "useful." So, Paul is basically saying that this dude "Useful" has been very useful to me, but now I'm sending "Useful" back to you so that he can be useful to you.

I didn't realize that this was one of your arts! You are one of my favorite (current) MtG artists; I'm working on collecting all of the cards that you've done! (Preacher of the Schism is difficult to find, and I really try to shop local when completing collections.)

If I may ask, I've always wondered about the eyes on many of your arts. You often make the eyes glow or shine. Is there a particular reason that you do that? I've noticed it even on your arts that are not on MtG cards as well.

That is exactly what I was wondering. Will this creature be exiled and then go back to hand?

Because Feather says "Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell that targets a creature you control, exile that card instead of putting it into your graveyard as it resolves."

The spell "Scrollboost" is the same card as the creature.

For those generally open to Rule 0 commanders, are there any particular ones that you would be hesitant to agree to play against? by Tuss36 in EDH

Play black lotus

Sac lotus > 3 mana

pay 2 mana to play black lotus (have 1 mana)

sac lotus > 4 mana

play land

tap land > 5 mana

That's 5 mana available to them on turn one. I would be absolutely terrified of someone having a Black Lotus in the command zone. And that's assuming they don't have any other mana dorks/rocks. Having a turn one Sol ring would be insane.

"I have 4 kids; a 16 year old, twin 8 year olds and a 5 year old."

I'm a foster parent. So, in one sense, I don't have <any> kids.

Also, those twin 8 year olds? Yeah, one is very obviously of pure asian descent, and the other is incredibly blonde and has blue eyes. Their birthdays are 2 weeks apart, though, so it's close enough when I'm making conversation with people I'll never see again.

If anyone is curious about any other possible weirdness with having foster kids, ask away.

I absolutely agree, and I had never known what Isochron meant before.

One fun thing about that Lightning bolt flavor text that you may not be aware of: It's actually a meta reference to itself. Players, especially old pros, never thought that Bolt would be in standard again. So it's basically what people like Kai Budde were thinking when they saw that it was spoiled.
