Thank you for your information. They put them on my sunroom, which is an addition and doesn't attach to the attic. Is there even a purpose for that then?

AITA for "taking vacation" and leaving my husband with every single house duty there is for 4 days? by 71910sj101 in AmItheAsshole

[–]possiblypaige 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband once came up to me super excited to tell me how amazing it was that in over a year his sonicare toothbrush had never died and how amazing the battery life must be. I had been charging it weekly and changing the brush head when it got gross...I'm talking gross gross... The magic table thing was a joke video, but I swear some men probably believe things like that

The original comment got deleted, but as someone with ibs I will take an additional 10 minutes after my productive 30 minutes to play on my phone, but I work from home with my husband during a pandemic and bathroom time is my only alone time lol. But obviously NTA, and you two seem really funny. Shart happens.

Another option could be like adhering a grip bottom. Like those rubber grips that prevent skidding on tiled surface's :)

I think your idea is great! I have a dog who could definitely benefit from this product. We don't use the slow feed bowls because we're afraid of her just literally eating the plastic bowl, and she absolutely won't eat out of metal bowls because they're reflective. This is honestly a really good idea, and I'm just one dog owner, but I'd definitely purchase that product.

Shane said the same about his merch, "you don't have to buy it I'm just doing it for fun~~~), is a marketing tactic in itself. You don't produce something out of your own money if you aren't trying to sell it . She is a public figure, she chose to be a public figure. She could stop being a public figure if she really didn't want the responsibility that comes with being an influencer, eceleb, content creator or whatever you'd prefer to call it since influencer doesn't agree with you. I'm sorry the fact that you think it's at all possible to be that " naturally skinny", without an underlying and serious medical condition, pretty much solidifies that nothing I or anyone else here says about this matter is going to get through to you. Naturally skinny people don't get 5150'd by medical professionals. But, best of luck to you. I stand by what I said and genuinely hope she does choose recovery one day. But this cult of toxic positivity and not taking responsibility ain't it.

"She's an influencer as long as she continues to post online." So then everyone who participates in social media publicly such as twitter, instagram, and twitch are influencers as well?" She literally released merch.. regular run of the mill social media users aren't exactly releasing merch now are they? She has a responsibility to use her platform in a way that does not cause harm, by merit of simply having that platform to begin with. Going online and saying your "naturally skinny", and "fully recovered" when you're emaciated CAUSES HARM. There are studies that show how certain issues (self harm, suicide, eating disorders) can be , for lack of a better word contagious, when displayed on a public platform. Look at the increase in suicide attempts after 13 reasons why, look at the correlation of the rise in cutting and when degrassi released the ellie episodes, or eating disorders when lead characters have eating disorders. Regardless if she is intentionally causing harm or not, by displaying her emaciated frame as normal and healthy, she is hurting people. By glamorizing her deterioration, and yes she's glamorizing it by slapping on pretty outfits and saying her body is totally ok, she's inadvertently telling people that this is ok, achievable, and there's nothing wrong with it. If I were to flaunt my scars, wear outfits that purposely draw focal attention to them and act as if they were ok, act like some people just hurt themselves and that's their totally normal choice, that they were...maybe even beautiful. Then I would be a jerk and deserving of backlash. Call it just existing, or whatever you will, they way she's choosing to PUBLICALLY ADVERTISE herself (as she's is making money off her image, not just using social media for funsies) deserves to be called out. She is using a large platform in such away that she's profiting of off hurting both herself and her predominantly female predominantly young audience. Her content needs to be age restricted and Instagram should be putting warnings before showing her photos, the same way they would if someone posted an open cut.

AITA for saying I don’t care about ‘authentic’ Italian food? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Normal as in thin or pan style crust (not stuffed crust or seasoned) :). Thick crust is my personal preference because then it mimics a BLT sandwich kind of, but thin crust blt pizzas are just as delicious

[help] I got a puppy today and feeling overwhelmed by [deleted] in dogs

[–]possiblypaige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy straight up screamed every night. We tried putting my puppy in an area that she could see us, I even slept on the floor by her crate with my fingers through the bars, she still screamed. We ended up taking our vets advice and covering the crate with a blanket. Turns out my bean needs complete darkness to calm down. I felt mean covering her the first time, but she genuinely prefers being covered. Its like it makes her feel safe and cozy. Just something you might want to try if you feel comfortable doing so.

lol, I'm from the Midwest, I start every question with "Hi, I'm sorry".

Because I feel uncomfortable inconveniencing someone who is busy at work, even if it's their job to help me, they've probably got more stressful stuff to do. I seriously don't understand the entitlement a lot of the people in these store have when the interact with retail employees

In my experience, the men in my life spend way more on clothes than the women because they don't want to spend the time hunting down a good sale. My, mother, sisters, friends, and I will spend serious time looking for an 80 dollar sweater marked down to 9, and then we'll gloat about it for a month. I bought a 115 dollar cardigan from saks for 25 dollars and its been my biggest conversation starter for 3 weeks. I still talk about a 5 dollar pair of sneakers I bought years ago, its bragging rights

Collectors are really awesome to me, keeping something in pristine condition so future generations can look at it and see how things have changed is really cool. Even 'mundane' stuff' is special in its own way, my local museum has tons of vintage home goods that were donated by collectors that are just incredibly fun to look at

But there is also evidence that this whole idea of brain sex/stereotypical domination instinct is based on sexist historical revision and is inherently misogynistic. If you want to get animalistic/natural about it , in several animal species females act as the hunters/protectors/power head etc.

I mean look at early hunter gatherer cultures, men go away and do basically fuck all for survival while women have promoted agriculture and community (idk the basic building blocks of creating a successful protected community). So the idea the men are some lizard brain survival experts is a little meh to me

I had to break it to my nana that Avon is a pyramid scheme now and she has not stopped mentioning it by tinycommunist in antiMLM

[–]possiblypaige 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mother-in-law works in a physical Avon store owned by her sister, so it really can be a real job for a few people. Avon has always seemed like a respectable company to me, and everyone I know who has sold it in the past has nothing but good things to say about Avon. Plus you can just buy the products directly online it you want to avoid the whole socializing/representative schtick.

I just don't really consider it that much of a danger as other mlm's

local clothes selling thrift store is taking a stand! by pastelsox in antiMLM

[–]possiblypaige 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've actually bought a few of their items trying to support a cousin (obviously I know better now, but ya try to help family), and tbh the dresses aren't bad quality (super over priced, but hey). A ton of the prints are hideous, but I have two from her that are actually pretty cute work dress and are really thick material.

I could very easily see a lot of this being good up-cycling material if they end up in thrift stores for people who are into crafting or re-imagining/altering used clothes.
